Friday Fill-ins

1. Ahhhh , the delicious scent of Christmas cookies, baking in the oven.
2. I'm preparing four kinds!
3. Creating a set of baskets for family members is on the list for this weekend.
4. After this marathon, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy some relaxation.
5. {There will be a} Kick start of tree trimming for a long Solstice Celebration lasting into February.
6.  I don't believe the end of the world is at hand anymore than it's ever been; I'm not afraid of it anyway, even if it does come as suggested by the Mayan Calendar; I mean, what can be done about it?  We will just help each other endure to the end, right?
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to putting my feet up and watching the fireplace video on Netflix, tomorrow my plans include more cookie baking, and Sunday, I want to start sewing together a sweater for Gee!

7. WWYAMCWWYAMC: We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas...
8. IHTBOCD:  I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
9. FTSIAJHS: nope!

One of my favorite Christmas songs is, "Feliz Navidad".  Recently DH and I attended a concert of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar.  There came a point when the Trio giving the concert asked us, the whole audience, to sing along.  We joined in to sing not only "Feliz Navidad" but also were asked to stand up and join hands and sing a beautiful old Hawaiian song.

The church is old fashioned, with a high clerestory of beams and stained glass windows, and  this architecture makes great acoustics, and made our soft unsure voices sound hushed and reverent in the parts where we responded.  It was wonderful and absolutely MAGICAL!.   When humans sing, en mass, something just happens to all their hearts.   I like to hear it, if it's Peaceful singing.  I love to join in.  How about you?

I want to wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart.
Tomorrow, Saturday, I will have made it to 70, barring a meltdown of our whole existence.  If that does happen, then I pray that God will be merciful to all the sentient beings, and this is because He knows of what we are made.

Peace and Love!

  1. Lovely answers! I was able to get all the Christmas songs, but I had to have my kids and husband help me with a few. ;-)

I love the sound of that concert you attended! My daughters and I went to one in an old cathedral this past week; although ours was presented by an entire band, including accompaniment by the cathedral's organist! It was wonderful! We also had a sing-a-long. It was my 6-yo's favorite part, because she didn't have to be quiet!

    Merry Christmas!

  2. The concert you describe sounds like just the right volume for such a large space. One of these days I would also love to hear something like those flash mobs singing the Hallelujah chorus in big malls.

Merry Christmas, Kelly! I love your blog, which is so Sassy and fun!

  9. Sweet Meffie, my very dear and oldest friend, thank you so much! I wish you the same! We need our kids closer to us don't we?

I have a story about the universal connection of sisterhood among women. One day, an American woman - who traveled a lot as a photographer for international magazines- was doing a piece on women from Afghanistan. She was taking photos and chatted with a woman making yarn. As they parted company, the woman said to her, "May your children bring you joy." Mine and yours have. We are truly blessed.
