Happy Easter! And, some true humility from a wonderful VIP, a good person.... Pope Francis

Sunday Stealing will publish in 5 minutes. If all goes well that is....

Friday Brief from the New York Times.  And this is no April Fool.....

A Highlight

"One highlight came on Holy Thursday, when Pope Francis washed the feet of prisoners in Rome — including two Muslims, an Orthodox Christian and a Buddhist."

'Everyone always has the opportunity to change life,' Francis said, 'and one cannot judge.'

imho.... This Pope is "tres cool."

Happy Easter, Y'all

Saturday9: The Fourth and all, Happy Fourth of July... if you celebrate.. I hybernate

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Hungry (1966)
... because it's 4th of July
Unfamiliar with this week's tune?
Hear it here.

1) Are you eating anything as you respond to these questions?
I'm headed for bed.  Too late to eat anything.  Doesn't that cause Nightmares?

YUM!
2) Paul Revere and the Raiders performed in Revolutionary garb. Have you ever worked at a job that required you to wear a uniform?
Nope, I never had to wear a uniform.  Oh wait,  UpDate... I had to wear a uniform at Dairy Queen, working for my Guitar.  It was worth it.

3) The "Paul Revere" of Raiders fame was born Paul Revere Dick in Boise, Idaho. What else is Idaho known for?
Russet potatoes of course.  Or are these spuds called Idahoes?

Of course this potato was made popular by the original Mr. Potato Head toys, and by all the death of Mr. Potato Head YouTubes, and of course, the classic motorcycle gathering in Sturgis

4) The original Paul Revere was a silversmith by trade,  known for making church bells. Can you hear church bells from your home?
I can hear no church bells in this house but where we lived before this, we could always hear them.  I miss them.  Now I ring my own three bells and drive the neighbors bananas with wind chimes.  But they all have more than I do.  I'm afraid to try to keep up because it will scare all the birds away.

5) In April, 1775, Paul Revere literally rode into history when he galloped into the night, spreading the word that "the British are coming." Name another Revolutionary War-era hero.

My Heart will always belong to George Washington, who survived an assassination plot and starved with his men.  He was a great Warrior Leader, as some have said before me, he is, was and will always be, the embodiment of Courage.

6) Historians tell us that Revere's famous "midnight ride" actually took place between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. When is your usual bedtime?  10:00 but I never make it to bed at that time or go to sleep before around 1 am.

7) Earlier this year, officials from Boston's Museum of Fine Arts uncovered a time capsule buried in 1795 by Paul Revere and Gov. Sam Adams. It included coins and newspapers. If you were to bury a time capsule that reflects American life in 2015, what would it include?
I saw Harriet's time capsule inclusion and couldn't agree more.  We could include pictures of all the Vietnam vets who show up at "Muster" in the Park every summer.

8) Will you attend a fireworks display during the 4th of July weekend?
We stay home with the Puppy.  We can't leave him alone on a dreadful evening when all that horrible noise is going.  I am afraid for the birds who are here along the Pacific Flyway.  There, I rained on the parade.

9) What's your preferred way to celebrate Independence Day -- a parade, a picnic, or both?
picnic, when we can be bothered to wade through bodies on the beach.  Look we love ya, but couldn't you come in the other seasons?  The Oceans just as warm, since it never gets over 67 most of the time anyway.  And the sun shine is the same, you can get a horrid sunburn just as easily in January as in August.  Take it from me, the parking situation is better.  Give yourselves a break, and us along with it?
San Diego Digital's Picture
We'll celebrate the END of summer in this Beach town.  It's not so much the Bodies in the water, it's the all cars parked all over people's lawns, and driveways, sidewalks... not being able to find a place to park at your favorite bead shop.  You know... Scroogie sorts of thoughts..... Bah humbug.  And you thought only Christmas engendered such ill will.... buhahahaha!

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Monday Music and UPDATE.. I took Google+ comments off.

Couldn't stand them being tagged on...  Yecht!

Otherwise this is Music Monday, Yay!

Make it full screen....

Netlfix has a few regular snapping fireplace things but they only last about an hour.  This lasts for 2!

Another Wonderful Day!

Another Birthday today!

Happy Birthday Bee!  Many more are wished for you from us.
I wish I could have baked a cake, transportered on over, and handed these to the celebrants.  I hope the non-caloric versions work to feast the eyes.

Let's talk Booze, Birthdays, and Horse Racing

First, there is the Booze in Question:

Smellyann, this is near to the Cherry Liqueur that I make but I don't put brandy in it.  It's  time to make it because cherries come to market in June!  My recipe is Vodka, lovely sweet cherries and sugar.  Mix the right amounts in a big jar, like a thoroughly cleaned glass one that had Mayo or pickles in it.  You get these jars from Smart and Final or Costco maybe- if they aren't all now plastic.  After the jar has everything in it, screw the lid on TIGHT!  It now goes into a dark cupboard to steep like for ever.  Actually it's only about a month or so.

Then it gets strained into a couple of wine bottles that have been carefully washed and carefully (hot oven) dried, cork it up and you have yourself a couple bottles of very tasty Cherry Liqueur.  There are approximately 10,000 sites that tell you how to do this, with nearly as many different ingredients.  My recipe came from a friend, and I'm too lazy to go try to find it.  Many of my recipes went AWOL after the kitchen got remodeled.

Today is Elle's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Elle!  May you have many more!

And now for something completely different:  Horse racing.  I was happy to see that none of the horses or the jockeys were hurt.  I was not happy about the opportunistic rules that allow a horse to run which has not been risked in the other so called races of the Triple Crown.  Triple Crown my arse.

Here is an ARTICLE, from Yahoo Sports which I think addresses the problem, unlike today's unhelpful article in the Sports section of the local rag.  Tell us something we do not know next time, ok?

Thankful Thursday.. The Generosity of Strangers.

The generosity of Strangers has rescued many a soul.  God Bless the Generous, for whom I am eternally grateful.   From the CalTrans workers who rescued my DD and friends in the desert I-10 years ago, to the neighbor who shared lovely figs with us this summer, I'm grateful.  It's the person to person things that count in so many lives, and are such a blessing.  Forget the selfish gimme - gimme going on in government and elsewhere.  It's the kindness of peers that truly can heal the cracks in a broken heart.

I laud the generous people who share How-to's and patterns at various sites, who teach others how to read, including adults who now can proudly read their children books at bed time, and those at Drops Design, who have put up their Easter Pattern Selection . It's all very cute stuff!  The patterns almost make me want to join Pinterest in order to share them!  Almost..... hehe  These are my favorites:

Socks, of course.  But there are many  cute things
Bunny pot holders

Tippy Chicks

Weather Report:  we have a little Squallish weather today so that's good.  Really, we need another nice soaking rain - more like a dozen more - but I'll be happy with what comes.   So, another gratefulness.

HERE is a collection of Squalls from painter Lynne Foy, who is wonderful.  Follow the gallery links to other painters in the New England area.  Regretting nothing, I still dream and say, ".....In another life ......"   ;o)

I'm slowly figuring out how to live with this new thing going on.  I just want to make it through to the end of May without any more DRAMA!!   Fingers crossed!   I'm intent on keeping my brain to myself and not have it out there in space somewhere doing uncharacteristic things and getting me into trouble.  I feel like a two year old - tiny, powerful, and totally MAD!  Hmmm....  Maybe I'll settle for "four year old" but absolutely not a two year old.  Four year old's know how to have fun without pissing off a bunch of people.

 Beam me up Scottie!

Lest we forget.

My hopes for For Ireland, which has suffered much.

To our Grandparents' Ireland, whose people came to America, fleeing a famine, while Millions died at home from an indifference which showed no mercies for their miseries nor did it make a move to alleviate the problems.   It simply watched as they were gathered in to their Mother, the Earth.

May Ireland's children be able to stay home with their families, and Prosper there.

May we learn to forgive it if not forget it. Maybe not as St. Patrick would surely have urged, but a healing none the less.

And Happy Valentine's Day

RANT about Header Problems with Chrome, which I WAS liking Up to NOW!  I'm playing with the header photos, and it's truly different in Chrome which seems to have problems that Firefox doesn't have. I know what it is:  Chrome can't READ!  I will just use Firefox from the netbook.  The problem will be solved!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I was sitting in the Jeep at the pharmacy, and a nice Pharma Rep came up to the jeep window, wished me a Happy Valentine's Day, and was holding out a specially wrapped Hershey's tootsie pop.  I thanked her and wished her a Happy Valentine's Day, too.   Very cool!  DH already ate it so there is no picture.  But I do have some special snaps.  On the theory that sharing Beauty acts as a CheerMeUp, I hope that it's true.  I've been darned blue lately, and as this is the SUNBELT you would think that seasonal Blues would not take affect!  So... here is a little stuff.  Tussie mussie seasonal blooms- silk - and a tiny heart my sister made for me.

Dining room table.  A Voila!

Tussie Mussie Gigantor

Tiny hanging heart....

Could be the books and the Documentaries, right?  Polly Anna got her fingers burnt!

Tuesday Tails - a cattail - Laplander film, Resolutions, yes/no?

Just in time for the holiday, Yule that is, from Pina: The Legend of the Yule Cat   Iceland!  And, there are other links to follow more Yule stories.  Thank you, Pina. I love legends, especially when reading them for the first time.

For the last two years we have been watching a Lapland (Finnish) Santa legend called,  "A Christmas Story", on netflix.  It's really for kids but we love it ,too.  The fact that it was filmed in Lapland, and they used real reindeer, adds to it's charm.   We watched the extra bits, too, and those were fascinating.  This film starts out a little differently, but ends up making you feel good about how everything turns out.

Read about it HERE
I've also found another movie that I like to see at Christmas time.  It's a feel good chick flick.  I watch it with DH. Watch is what I do; what he gets to do is sleep through most of it which is OK with me because it's a cozy time, DH me and Wolfie dozing with DH.  I'm happy; he's Happy.

It's called, "The 12 Dates of Christmas", and though it seems to be a ripoff of the classic live-forever-stuck-in-one-day movie, "Groundhog Day", it's really not.  "12 Dates of Christmas" is a sweet, warm and upbeat rendition of that theme- meaning no Caustic Bill Murray character who has to learn to  grow UP already and be HUMAN for Jiminy Crimeny's sake!

Resolution making:

A quote from Musings of a Bookmammal's blog .... “When was the last thing time you did something for the first time?”

I thought this year I wouldn't make any New Year's Resolutions.  This decision was based on the knowledge that  I've had a hard time keeping any resolutions I've made in past 8 years or so.   But maybe I'll do a few, especially if they challenge me to grow a little, like that quoted question does.

So, I will be posting a few closer to Year's end, but putting more thought into them.  Anything I plan to do, I must respect my arms and hands.  They cannot be ignored anymore.   They are the most important tools with which I make things, and making things is my perfect path to happiness and joy.  I mean I can't do anything like get my children  the respect they deserved from certain elders of the tribe.  There are so many of these "I can nots" that it gets thick around me, sort of  like fast setting cement while I'm sinking into a quagmire of grief and regret, or wishes that I'd been some sort of killer who really could kill with a look, like the woman in the song.  Pant Pant!

So, I'm making resolutions.  But after Christmas.  Tra La!

Merry Christmas, Godfrey, and to all a good night!

Saturday Komeeks,a Little Monster, and Happy Birthdays, too

Aaaannnnnddd, speaking of fish and other little creatures of the deep...

Here's a story, Via DH,  about a little monster so dangerous it had to be kept alone in the tank.  It ate EVERYTHING else in the tank.

Read about this little Monster HERE
I guess this is one shrimp that nobody wants dares to eat.

Today is Ele's Birthday.   Tomorrow is Bee's.  Happy Birthdays to you both, and next year, a promise, we'll go have pizza together, or something very nice to eat somewhere, maybe Seabright Brewery?

Wishing you each a Very Happy  Birthday!
The envelopes with mysterious markings have a lot of surprises in them, or rather one very big one.  Enjoy!

Viral Baby Owl and Very Patient Annie Dog Video....

This is so cute!

And then there is this one:

This is why people like Sulcata's.
They are hyper tiny but OH to they get BIG!  150lbs.  You'll be sorry if one bites your toe!

Yesterday we went to my sister's to have an early celebration of her Birthday.   We celebrated with some cupcakes from Starry Lane:

I think my sister was happy, though she really needs something for her nerves.  I wish we could all tie one on but it's just not a good idea! lol
