Sunday Stealing: The Generic Meme

the generic meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme.

Let's go!!!

The Generic Meme
From Remember the Stars

1. What did you want to be when you were little?
An Artist and an Architect.
2. Would you prefer to have a large group of friends, or a small group of friends? Why?
I would like a large group of friends.  The reason is that is what I imagine Heaven to be like, friends just EVERY where.
3. What is your fashion “style”? Or what type of clothes do you wear on a daily basis?
I have no style, I'm a big slouch.  Most times I'll wear something nice out to dinner or an evening out, but mostly I am dressing for comfort.
4. If you could live anywhere where would you live?
Central Coast or Northern California around Arcada.
5. What is your biggest hope for the next year?
That we all make it through the year as calmly as possible.  Actually i secretly wish to see war criminals punished but like that's going to happen.  *rolls eyes*
6. When you pass by reflective surfaces do you check yourself out?
Not unless it feels like blood is pouring out of my face.  I hate reflective surfaces, as they are not reliable anyway.
7. Favorite genre of movie as well as TV show?
I like comedies, and also thrillers that aren't TOO bloody or violent.  TV?  What's that?
8. Top favorite books? (limit of 5)
Two Years Before The Mast
Moo
A Suitable Boy
And The Ladies of the Club
Joy Luck Club
9. Have you ever taken a cooking class?
No. Well, in Junior High I had a semester of cooking and one of sewing.  Home Ec.  Cooking and preserving, pickling, I learned by helping my mother,  French cooking from Julia Childs, and Chinese recipes from Joyce Chen on PBS.  Syrian and Italian cookery I learned from cook books, and Mexican cooking from my paternal Grandmother and Aunts who were wonderfully kind and generous women.
10. What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Thoughtful, Activist, Spiritual
11. Favorite animal?
All of them.  Yes, even the little slugs and nematodes, who serve their purposes in life.
12. What is your dream job?
Artist with my own Studio and Gallery space.  No more hokey shows in parking lots.
13. If you could go back in history to any moment that you did not live, what would it be and why?
I would like to meet the Essene.
14. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Why?
Healing.  Why?  Because aggression and greed are forms of insanity, and they need to be healed or we will never have any real peace inour world.
15. What is your favorite movie?
It's very hard to pick just one!  I'd  say that I truly love "Milagro Beanfield War"
16. What is your best childhood memory?
Arriving in the late night,in a snow storm, to my grandparents' farm after a cross country train trip.  The lights were all on inside the house, shining out the glass through the falling snow, and everything looked magical.
17. What is your favorite part about blogging?
All the people I've met.  It's terrific to read blogs, and one of the best things about the internet.  That is not to forget the Twittering around The People's Democracy movements, i.e. the speed with which Twitter can mobilize groups, and those Musical flash mobs.  Flash mobs  are fabulous!  I konw these last things aren't blogging but are closely related.
18. What is your favorite quote?
The one I can't find anymore by a famous Sufi Mystic.  Darn!
19. What song do you feel like describes your life the best? Why?
Age of Aquarius.  New Beginnings.
20. Would you describe yourself as shy or outgoing?
I am shy until I know what is going down, and whether or not I should flee!

  1. I never thought of healing--that would be a good power to have. I like your reasoning there, too. And what a beautiful memory of your grandparents' farm. So magical!

    1. It is such a great film. I didn't like the book as much as I liked the film. Hope you find it on Netflix! I've got an old VCR tape that is getting wonkie.

  3. Thank you, lia. My grandparents made me feel safe. I think they made Mother feel safe, too. We spent several months there at a time, surrounded by loving aunts and cousins. Very lucky children we were then before the grands died.

  4. I'm with you -- dress for comfort! I can't imagine how impossible it is to keep up with the fashionistas ... and everyone I see wearing skinny jeans spends every 5 minuts pulling them back up. How is that even remotely comfortable? Your answer to #16 sounded completely magical!

    1. I know what you mean about those hyper skinny jeans, and they are not comfortable! They fit like a pair of panty hose but are not in anyway as flexible to get on!

My grandparent's farm was a haven to my mother, brother and I. That memory has never lost it's ability to recreate the feeling of delight in arriving there.
