Meme: Saturday9, or, Did Jimmie Buffet really sing THAT??!! Saturday Sky, Saturday Komeekz

First, since some Know-It-All MALE posted  a list of HIS most hated Facebook photos posted by Girls.. note the "Girls" word usage... and posting clouds was third on the list, I am posting a cloud shot!   I'm deeply offended.. Not reaaally.

There.  Extra BIG!
Saturday9:

Why Don't We Get Drunk?

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Why Don't We Get Drunk?

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1)This week's song was once named the favorite love song of Bud Wiser, the godfather to this humble blog. With Valentine's Day coming up, what's your favorite love song?

The First Time Ever I saw Your Face, sung by Roberta Flack:

This beautiful song was written for Pete Seeger.

2) When this song was first released back in 1973, the "Why don't we get drunk and screw?" refrain was considered shocking. With the explicit sexual content in many of today's songs, it now hardly raises an eyebrow. When is the last time you were shocked? (Not just by a song, by anything at all.)  To be brutally honest, I was shocked that you would put this song up for us.  hehe

3) Buffett named his first daughter Savannah, presumably after his favorite city. Tell us about your favorite city.  That would be Santa Cruz, CA.  I love the place, the people, the little organic grocery shops, the beach, the lifestyle.  I love the political activism and the community spirit.  Don't be messing with the trees in Santa Cruz, or someone will chain themselves to them and there is no way you will be cutting them down.  Just sayin'....

4) Mr. Buffett opened a Margaritaville Casino in Atlantic City. Have you ever gambled in Atlantic City? What about Las Vegas?   No, I don't gamble, in fact, I hate it.  People work so hard for their money and then they go pay someone to take lots of it away in games?  No, gambling is not the demise of the paternal unit.  So it's not that.  I really think that gambling is evil.  But I will say this:  If the Native Americans are getting back some of their lands with money from the casinos,  More power to them!

5) Saving Florida's manatees is a cause near and dear to Jimmy Buffett's heart. If we were to make a $100 contribution to any charity in your honor, which would you choose?   The Humane Society, but we already give more than that to them.  I am a Hero for Animals donor.

6) If today was your birthday, your astrological sign would be Aquarius. How often do you check your horoscope?  I check it a couple of times a week.  It's a hoot.  I sort of like to do it.

7) On this date in 1974, the show Good Times ("Dy-no-mite!") premiered and, much to Sam's confusion and chagrin, still enjoys an audience in syndication. Tell us about a pop culture phenomenon that you just never got into.  If you are speaking of television shows, that would be just about anything on TV.  Exceptions are always interesting, of course, so I make one for "Downton Abbey".

I cadged this from a UK newspaper

 I'm crazy about that one.

8) Is there a home improvement project on your list of things to do?  Painting the whole inside of the house before I'm too weak to raise a brush.

9) A warm-weather choice to consider on a February day: Ice cream sundae or banana split?

I actually cannot eat dairy products so the answer is "neither".  I can have a chocolate smoothie with cherries and a banana, though, just not that one.  Extremely delicious with chocolate soy milk and vegan protein powder!  Yummy!

  1. I'm not supposed to eat dairy either, but one of these days I *am* going to go get a hot fudge sundae.

    1. It's extraordinary but over time I've found that soy "ice cream" tastes really good to me, and real ice cream tastes greasy. So, maybe you can make your hot fudge without dairy someday? I miss all the good stuff but this is one thing that seems like a plus to me.

  2. Agreed on the Downton thing. Watched that instead of all of the hoopla shows on the past couple of weeks.

    1. Me too. I'm thinking of going back to the very first ones and watching them again but perhaps it's just a bit to soon for that. If I could stand the son in "Upstairs, Downstairs" it's probably time to watch that again. I hate him for what he did to Hazel. The Brute! hehehe Fiction sticks as hardfast as old gum to a shoe!

  3. Oh, aren't you glad that Bates and Anna have reconciled? I'm nervous though, because Bates clearly *KNOWS*, and he has that unfortunate propensity for threatening to kill people. (Obviously, I loves me some DA, too.)

    1. Oh yes, I am glad right down to my shoelaces! Oh yes, Bates knows, and that brooding glower he is adopting is quite chilling. Brrrr!

  4. For me it is not dairy products that I can't have but the sugar in the ice cream, it sends my blood glucose sky high.

  5. Ouch! I'm sorry. I wonder if there are recipes someplace on the web for alternative sundaes? hmmmm? Going to look around. I'd like to get away from sugar, too.
