Oh! My Papa
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: Oh! My Papa (1954)
If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.
1) Eddie Fisher starred in a popular 1950s TV show, which was sponsored by Coca Cola. Do you have a favorite soft drink? Yes, I like some something called Dry Soda, in Cucumber flavor. That's my favorite.
2) He was notorious for leaving his famous first wife for his very famous second wife. Can you name either of the women involved in this Hollywood scandal? Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor. Such a jerk.
3) His oldest daughter, Carrie Fisher, is best known as Princess Leia from Star Wars. Are you a sci-fi fan?
I like Sci-fi but I love Carrie Fisher! She played in The Burbs, too.
4) Since Sam's father is particular about his footwear and likes "a good pair of Cole Haan loafers," her Father's Day present to him is a DSW gift card. If we were to give you a gift card to any store or restaurant, which would you choose?
Lowes. hehe That would be like a gift for myself too though. Hmmm?
5) Sam's father hates it when she swears. When is the last time your cursed?
Darn, I can't remember...
6) Sam's father is a voracious reader. So much so that the local librarian knows him on sight and by name. How often do you visit your neighborhood library?
I never got in, DH picks up all the books in the family because he seems to like to do that. When the kids were little we practically lived in the library in the summertime.
7) "A good used car is a better investment than a new car." That's what Sam's dad tells her when she's in the market for wheels. Share some other words of financial wisdom with us.
You can't spend your money and have it, too.
8) Every car her father has ever owned had a pro-union bumper sticker. Do you have any bumper stickers on your vehicle?
Now a days, I have not a one. I used to have one on the Van, "This Truck is protected by Rambo!"
That hairy Rambo comes from what looks like a very fun page, but, it might be X rated, I didn't stop to check.
9) To celebrate Father's Day, Sam is giving away her father's favorite candy: LifeSavers. Would you prefer a roll of Wild Cherry, Butter Rum, Winter Green or Peppermint?
I really don't like LifeSavers. Sorry to be of so little help.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend.

Cucumber Dry Soda? That sounds so refreshing. I have to look it up.
ReplyDeleteThat soda company, Dry, makes unusual flavors and it's Vanilla and the Lavender ones are very good, too. There may be others but those are the three that I've tasted. Hope you find some and like it. It's not so sweet it makes the teeth ache.
DeleteI love Carrie Fisher as well. She had some better rolls than Star Wars.
ReplyDeleteIndeed she did, BC. She's such a pleasure to see in movies. I still love that tough little Princess, though admittedly it wasn't the best film for her.
DeleteNever heard of Dry sodas. Will have to look for them. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteHope you can find them. They are just sweet enough. It will be a shock when you first taste them on that you've gotten hold of a drink that isn't so sweet but still tastes good.
