Saturday9

Here I Go Again

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Here I Go Again (1982)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song originally appeared on Whitesnake's Saints and Sinners album. Are you feeling more saintly or sinful this morning?  Actually, I just feel confused.

2) Whitesnake was formed by Brit David Coverdale, who now lives in Lake Tahoe, NV. Have you ever wanted to relocate to another country?  Actually, before coming south to the water-less lands,  I just wanted to live in Santa Cruz, when you could still buy a house or even land for a song, but, yes, Quebec, Canada, and France.

3) In the song, Coverdale says he "was born to walk alone." Do you enjoy time on your own? Or do you quickly get bored or lonely?  I enjoy my alone time, as long as it doesn't go on for two weeks or something.

4) During the band's 1980s heyday, Coverdale was known for his skintight leather pants. Do you own leather pants or slacks?  No, I always thought they would be just too hot to wear well.  I liked skin tight, stretch jeans but that's a whole different animal.

5) What about snakeskin?  No, not that animal either.  I think snake skin looks best on the animals themselves.
Wiki Commons.  A checkered Garter Snake

A Boa or Python, I don't know which.
Animalstime.com for kids...but there are too many ads there.

6) It's estimated that 20,000 people die of snake bite every year. Approximately 1,000 suffer fatal spider bites. Less than 50 are killed each year by sharks. Considering sharks, spiders and snakes, which do you find scariest?  I'm just a little bit afraid of sharks because they seem to be prone to strike at anything flaying around in the water.  The rest? I just respect them as they go about their little lives.

HERE for the story.  Who knew that references to Talbot teas and some "gaming" show called the Shark tank were going to drown the web to bury this neat story?

7) In 1982, when this song was popular, the world lost Princess Grace of Monaco. Before she became a royal, she was film star Grace Kelly. Have you ever seen a Grace Kelly movie?  Well, I'm not sure but if she was in Friendly Persuasion, then I did.  I still like that movie.

8) Speaking of movies, the top-grossing film of 1982 was ET: The Extra Terrestrial. Have you seen it?  Yes, about seven umpteen times.

9) Random question: How many timepieces will you have to reset when we spring ahead this weekend?  Counting......Almost two dozen.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  1. ... and I thought I had a lot of clocks!

That was Dorothy McGuire with Gary Cooper in Friendly Persuasion. Grace Kelly was the blonde with Gary Cooper in High Noon. (I know way too much about old movies.)

    1. Oh my you certainly do! hehe
And, here I was plugging Grace Kelly's face into the memory banks re: Friendly Persuasion. Now I have to unplug her by staring at Dorothy McGuire for a couple of days. I've seen High Noon, but never took note of the actress. ;o)

    1. Glad not to be the only one. I guess sometimes you wake up feeling guilty and don't know why, too? hehehe

  4. Diana, I forgot that a lot of them now auto correct, so there are a lot less things. After this was published, I was so happy to read that on other peoples' Saturday9 posts, that I could have danced in the kitchen. heehee You still win! ;-)

  5. I am happy to be the one to dispel your beliefs about sharks: they don't simply strike at anything that moves. Rather, it generally has to be something that seems like a natural food item for them, weak enough to be worth the effort, and not something that will fight back. So if you're ever in the sea, and a shark comes toward you, don't worry. Generally they are not interested. ;) (Easier said than done on the not worrying part though, I'm sure...)

    1. I am so glad to know this. Thank you! And yes, easier said than done about the not worrying. I do live where at least a couple of people have been lost to their bites.

I know that surfers have the problem, supposedly, of looking like a seal when sitting on their boards. Brrr!

I actually like sharks and feel sorry for them but if a Great White has been seen cruising the local shores, I would never be the one to go into, or stay in, the water. ;-)
