Sunday Stealing: New year resolutions (not mine!)

January 2, 2016

This Year Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from this new meme or recently asked questions from a previously featured meme.

Cheers to all of us thieves!!!

This Year Meme
Stolen from: Hubpages

This Year:

A bad habit I'm going to break:
I'm going to stop making new year's resolutions.  I'm just going to keep on with the de-cluttering of my mind, spirit, and workplaces, and follow the word of the year from this year, "Breathe", and the new Phrase of the Year, "Listen and Learn, then Act."

A new skill I'd like to learn:
Mongolian Throat singing.  Video is 8 minutes long:  Since my voice is going from Soprano to Alto anyway, I've almost got it down. Think of it as Cowboy, Mongolian cowboy, yodeling, but with a spiritual aspect.

Kongar-ol-Ondar, who passed away in 2013.  He was an excellent singer.   Just Amazing.

A person I'd like to be more like:
Honestly, I'd like to be more like Mr. Z.  He's one of the calmest people on earth - Zen like even..... he is such a calm being.

A good deed I'm going to do:
I plan to keep on doing what I do, but a little more of it.  And I want to just love everyone, and try to permeate the madness with Love, in the hope that it goes out and meets everyone more than halfway, and helps them out.

A place I'd like to visit:
I'd like to see Oregon, Washington, maybe even hike part of the Mt. Olympia trail, as well as see parts of Montana and Idaho.

A book I'd like to read:
I'm definitely going to read, Christ, The Eternal Tao.  I'm interested in the concept and want to see where it goes.

A letter I'm going to write:
I have no plans to write a letter.  But if I did, it would be to Meffie.  After all these years, my dear old friend, I still owe you that letter!  My Bad!

A new food I'd like to try:
If I haven't eaten it yet, I probably won't eat it.  If beaver anal gland secretions  are used for ice cream flavors, just how low will the food industry go?  Happily, this is marked as "Mostly False" by Snopes.com  But it still is used in perfume.  Oh ugh.  But a person doesn't normally eat that do they?  I found all this stuff out by doing a search for "disgusting food images".    There are some truly terrible things in there.  I've got to stop looking up disgusting food...  That can be one of my New Year's Resolutions!

I'm going to do better at:
Learning to Meditate properly.  This stuff really works.

Right now my mind goes off to the Ends of the Earth.
Maybe that's not a bad thing?
Maybe I'll go see Meffie in the Dreamtime!

Live, Laugh, Love!

  1. I need to learn how to meditate, too. Right now I'm trying coloring books. It is sort of zen-like.

    1. Meditation practice is done best when you are in a quiet place, inside, outside, night, day. It is amazing. I use tiny bells rather than a mantra, after all, I want a quiet place.
My daughter started me sketching daily a few years ago, and she draws with colored pens, ornate and beautiful drawings every day. Very meditative, yes, very zen-like. The coloring books they have now are truly lovely.

  2. I thought Mongolian throat singing was something they made up for Sheldon to do on The Big Bang Theory. Live and learn.

    1. Oh no, it's very ancient and very real. But there is now a series of You Tubes by throat singers and one of them is fabulously staged with horses and riders in full Mongolian regalia! It's a little like a movie. Some others are Hip Hop, and some are Rap style. So fun!

  3. I'm stuck on the beaver anal gland thing. Who comes up with that stuff? Who looks at a beaver's butt, and thinks "hey - I can get something out of that!"... Ew... just ew...

    1. I know, who would believe that someone would do this but it's been around for decades. So disgusting. Other things were even more so, but I thought, at least that one the animal wasn't killed. At least I don't think they are. It can't be fun for them, poor things.

  4. I started meditating last year and it has helped me focus and relax. I thought they were opposites but they aren't!

    1. No they are partners, and one feeds into the other. Think about how a couple of things we modern Americans do that feed into a loop that nearly makes us insane, and then you realize that meditation takes you back into the center of your consciousness, where you are actually supposed to be. That space is where you deal best with outside stimuli, to a world now made more pleasant because you can be fully alive in it, without the stress.

    1. Once, the whole of the US and parts of Canada was on my list. But now, I hope you get to see the northwest which is closer. I'm making a goal for me to be healthy enough to do this and soon.
I've also been adding things on when reading them all the group's blogs. It would be lovely to see all the places in North America. Maybe even go to England but that is pushing it! lol

    1. Lol! Certainly wasn't yours or mine! Should we go down through History and take them all down before they utter a word? ;o)

  8. Well, I think I will look into Christ, The Eternal Tao, too! Thanks for sharing! Aloha

  9. Aloha, HuLa la. I'm very excited about this book. I feel I'm close to some answers. I'm cutting it a little late!

    “Simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
    Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

In Christ's teachings, his lifestyle, and his focus, I see a master's mind. This universal consciousness is purest in the teaching of these two special beings. I feel that, finally, this book may show this connection. I've been looking for this since the sixties.
