The Controversial Meme
Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes (or surveys) from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard the expression, "honor among thieves". In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from this new meme or recently asked questions from a previously featured meme.
We Found this gem from a blogger named Erik Rubright who lives in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. The blog's name is "Gambrinous with Griffonage" which he explains translates to "full of beer with bad handwriting". It was written over seven years ago, so we had to update a few questions. Erik states that he stole it from the blog "The Melancholy Diary of a Cynic" who undoubtedly ripped it off another blog. But that's as far as we will go. You've probably already stopped reading this and started the meme.
Yes, I have actually! LOL! Very Droll
Sunday Stealing: The Controversial Meme
1. Would you try a recreation drug if all were legalized?
A. I don't care about any other so called "recreational drug" but I would try Marijuana. I consider it a medicinal herb. Since I don't smoke, I would try it in tea.
And, I'd like to try it in Spaghetti Sauce, like the sweet, little 20th century Italian Grandmother that was arrested one year for growing a plant in her backyard. She grew what she considered an herb from seeds her own mother's garden in Italy. It's a stupid law.
2. Are you happy that the U.S. Supreme Court once again upheld a woman's right to abortion?
A. Yes I am. Women have a right to have total control over their bodies, and that includes the reproductive organs. A woman should have the right to not have any children if she so desires. It's her body.
3. Would our country cope any differently with a woman president?
A. Are you interested in this because of the one that is running for office this year? I don't see how she sees her role as any different than as "one of good old the boys". I mean what I say. Also, she's tough, and she's awfully damn smart. If she can find her way around the Big Money Boys that have increasingly run Washington, I'd bet she could be a Teddy Roosevelt And REALLY get things done!
4. Do you believe in the death penalty?
A. No, and this is why. Justice isn't very just, or blind. Fore instance, evidence is lost, and any number of mistakes are made pre-trial and in trial, and innocent people are put to death. It's not worth the risk, and no truly civilized people would use it.
I have a different view of treasonous persons and war profiteers however. They should be sent to Mars, dismembered and their bodies scattered to be eaten by Martian Wolves.
5. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
A. Yes, because it would mean that the people who need it, cancer patients and others for whom it can be life saving, can just grow some for themselves.
6. Do you believe in God?
A. I do. I absolutely believe in a higher power. I think everyone who works under this Higher power is either an angel or a saint. These beings, the Angels anyway, live right next to us in a different dimension. I'm not even Catholic, either.
7. How do you feel now that same-sex marriage is legalized?
A. Glad. Love is Love. When will we get this fact? Why should two loving people, people who want to spend their lives together, and be able to take care of each other in old age be unable to wed and have the rights of wedded people. I want to know no more of heterosexual couples love lives than any other sort of couples. I may be funny that way. But my girl talk is about knitting and cooking. What people do with the rest of life is THEIR business.
8. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the USA?
A. I am 50% Native American, Spanish and French. These people were all here in what became the USA before any of my Northern European - English, German, Scandanavian, Irish, or any other so called white Ancestors were here.
If by Hispanic the question is to mean people from South America, I say Too late. Those Indian/Spanish mixes were here a hundred years or more before the Northern European and so called White Race, were here.
So, no, I don't think it's so wrong. The Indians always moved around both continents, freely. This is supported by their oral histories - East and West, North and South. And, just like the tribes in Europe, they moved around and stayed here and there. The Celts, all wandered all over the half acre in Europe and Asia.
If this answer seems hostile, it sort of is. I'm a little tired of Spaniards, Italians, and Frenchmen not being considered, "quite white". Or people being lumped into a class called , "Hispanic". It's not only foolish, it's also misleading.
9. A 12-year-old girl has a baby… should she keep it?
A. It depends on the girl and her family. The baby has the right to stay with it's family if they want it, too. In the case of incest, no. There's something wrong with the family structure. But if this is not the case, the family should have the option. Some families want to. I say, "Let them."
10. Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18?
A. Yes. If a government can draft a male at 18 and he can vote at 18, he has a solid case for letting him have full adult rights. It's not people under 21 drinking that's the problem ( because they will anyway) it is drunk driving that is the problem.
11. Should the wars in the Middle East be called off?
A. Yes, let's call off this two century long quest for other people's Oil. It's sickening how far it's gone.
12. Do you believe in spanking your children?
A. I used to think it was alright at first. Then I learned from Aunts and from my one Sister in Law, that it's Not. I know it's harmful and is not something that should be done. There are lots better ways of disciplining children.
13. A mother is declared innocent after murdering her 5 children in a temporary insanity case… what do you think?
A. I think, if she was acquitted, there had to be some solid evidence that she was suffering from Post Part-em Stress Syndrome, or was insane. She probably doesn't remember what happened. That's what I think anyway. I had Baby Blues after the twins were born.
14. Would you want to prosecute someone for burning their country's flag as a method of protest?
A. No I wouldn't.
15. It's between you and a person who is being kept alive (with NO hope) by life support machines… one has to die? Who?
A. I can't answer such a question. Let God decide.
16. Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
A. LIving in fear of judgement keeps people from speaking out against all sorts of things that could be solved before they become monstrous problems. This is our country, land of the free. We speak out or we aren't doing our duty to air things and try to reach consent of the governed. Everyone in public office today, is our servant. Let them not forget it!
Something must be done about drinking and driving, something really tough! The age of the driver doesn't have much to do with it. Britain allows 18 year old to be at the pub. They never allow drunk driving. Stiff penalties and some jail time should always be meted out. Losing the right to drive is another deterrent.
This was a lot of heavy thinking. I'm going to go watch Downton Abbey for the second time and fall asleep.
Good night! Have a Happy Fourth of July!
