Meryl Streep: Golden Globe speech
We are American. This is the melting pot of the world, and we come from everywhere.
What does it say on the base of the Statue of Liberty?
Are we just going to roll over and play dead?? I think not!!
I cried when she spoke and just wanted to thank her. I liked when she described actors as empaths and said, "An actor’s only job is to enter the lives of people who are different from us, and let you feel what that feels like..."
Hi, Colleen. That made a big impression here, too. She is one heck of an actor, and that give weight to her description. She knows her Art and it's power to move hearts.
Mine too, Karen. She and millions like her will fight for our freedoms; we will generally love and support our communities. But that's very American. The power of a centralized government holds no sway, for good or for evil, at the local level; it is suspect. It engenders little trust.
