Sunday Stealing: Music, Music, Music...

Music, Music, Music

Thanks to Bev, our new Host!  Brava!

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on
WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. You may have heard the expression, “honor among thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from, if possible. We also provide a link to the victim's questions in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from recently asked questions from a previously post. Cheers to all of us thieves!

I really like music and so I stole this from a blog called The Green Hearth, who says that some of these are "f*ing hard."  And they are, but I thought they were fun.  Let's give it a try.

Music Music Music!  If you'd like to play along, go HERE  You will also be able to see the other bloggers who participate and read their answers.  It's fun!

1: A song you like with a color in the title: "Blue Velvet", sung by Bobby Vinton

2: A song you like with a number in the title: Bob Marley, "Three Little Birds"

3: A song that reminds you of summertime: That is "Summertime", sung by Ella Fitzgerald.

4: A song that needs to be played LOUD:  "Come Sail Away"  Though this starts out sort of softly.

5: A song that makes you want to dance: Blondie, "Heart of Glass"

6: A song to drive to
We used to have a lovely sound system in the Jeep but it's gone south.  I used to listen to Julian Bream's recordings, and some of "America" and all the Rockers.

7: A song about drugs or alcohol
Honestly, I don't know of any.

8: A song that makes you happy
See Answer 4.

9: A song that makes you sad
The song from yesterday's Saturday 9.

10: A song that you never get tired of
I love "Black Waters" and have listened to it for years without getting tired of it.

or "South City Midnight Lady" by the Doobies, though I do like the original studio recording best:

11: A song from your preteen years
I didn't really get to listen to any music other than my parents' Benny Goodman, Harry James, Glenn Miller, and Arty Shaw records when I was a pre-teen, the songs of which I learned by heart.  I never even had my own radio until mother bought me a little transistor one when I was 13.  And, then .... there was the lovely ELVIS!  Squeeee!

12: One of your favorite 80’s songs: "Thriller" by Michael Jackson.

14: A song that you would sing a duet with someone on karaoke
Moi?  ~Buhahahahahahaha~  Ok, will this somewhat screechy  yet adorable little number do?:
"Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun", by Cindi Lauper.  I sing with this one when I hear it.  That and the Blondie one.

15: A song from the year that you were born:  "Don't sit Under the Apple Tree", Glen Miller band and the Andrews sisters.  I used to sing this when I was a kid! Told ya I was old as dirt.

  2. Loved singing along with Bobby Vinton! My mom was a big fan and Sunday mornings at our house always involved a big stack of records on the stereo with the volume cranked up. I grew up listening to Bobby and most of the big band ones you mentioned (those were from my dad).

Ha! Yeah, I'm not going to sing, either, but if I did "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" might be a good cover for my voice.

    1. Ah, someone who remembers him. heehee...and yes,The Sunday Thieves are, most of them, young enough to be my daughters. So many songs in this meme that I've never even heard.

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is a great sing-a-long even if you can sing very well. Lol.

  3. Chicago has a big Polish community, and in some neighborhoods, Bobby Vinton is like a god. "Moja droga ja cie kocham!" And now that you've got me thinking of him, he had many colorful lyrics: "Blue on blue," "red roses for a blue lady ...."

    1. He really was a very gifted song writer, and singer. I think I'll spend some time compiling song lists from YouTube.

    2. Moja droga ja cie kocham, means that I love you so. I grew up in a "Hunky" neighborhood and that song was HUGE here. Kind of sad that we've lost the ethnicity. I had a big Hunky wedding (think of the wedding in the Deer Hunter) and along with rock, big band and pop we had a generous helping of polkas.

    1. It's because I go way WAY back, Kwizgiver. Glad you liked my list. My head is still ringing with some of them.
Oh, you may see more of me poking around Ravelry. I'm trying DESPERATELY to restart the Knitting Mojo.
