Thank you Bev!  I love Sunday Stealing!  😍

Readers:  If you want to play along, or see other blogger's posts, go HERE

1. A song that gives you goosebumps
"Landslide"  And it always will be. This is probably my favorite song out of half a million...

2. A song you hated once but now love
Can't recall a single one.  Sorry.  It's sad.  I am forgetting my music...I'm gladTo have forgotten the hated ones, too!

3. Do you remember your first CD?

No. Those came along during the blitz called Twin Babies.  But I can remember my first 45.  It is Bill Haley and His Comets with, "Rock Around the Clock"

4. Has your music taste changed much since childhood?

Most definitely.  Aside from singing with my Grandpa, the music of my childhood was Benny Goodman, Arty Shaw, Dorsey Brothers, Glenn Miller, and The Andrew's Sisters.  And then, when I was in the 6th grade, Elvis Presley arrived!  My mother bought me a little transistor radio which she then told me to hide from my dad.  He was the most controlling a**hat I've ever met.

5. Favorite genre?

Musical?  I love music and it's impossible to choose.  (However... see #6...*points downward*)

6. What's a genre or style of music that you just don't understand?

That would be Rap.  I just don't understand why it's even called Music.  Hip Hop I get, but not Rap.  And yes, there is a difference, at least there once was.  Maybe not anymore. 🤔

7. Do you have a process for listening to music, such as listening to the instruments more than words?

I only follow the Lyrics if it's a solo.  Otherwise I'm listening to the Orchestration. That can get me into trouble, as my eldest daughter once pointed out, AC-DC has some pretty Rasty song lyrics.  🤯

8. What's your favorite thing about your favorite song?

I love that HUGE swell of emotion that I get when I hear the opening chords.

9. Do you have a favorite decade for music?

No.  I like music from all the way back to the beginning.  I like to hear tribal songs, for instance.

10. Can you play any instruments?

I can play both the Guitar and Ukulele.  When I finally get my arm fixed, I will play them again!
Hippy Ky Yy Yo!

11. Do you remember your first favorite song?

"Git Along Little Dogies", and singing it with all my cousins while Grandpa sang with us, and played his guitar.

12. What was the first concert you ever attended?
When I was 16, I went to see Redlands University's Concert Orchestra play Summer Concerts in Redlands Bowl.  I drove myself.  Freeeeeeedommmmm!

  1. I love Stevie Nicks...and that's unusual. I am not, generally speaking, a big fan of female singers. I tend to like the deeper voices.
I hope you get back to the guitar and ukulele. I was never a fan of ukulele music until I heard a woman that comes to play at the nursing home. She has three different sizes and her singing voice is smooth and deep toned. She sings old standards and I just love it!
Be blessed today (and every day).

    1. I love her, too. To be honest practically anyone could sing that song, and it would still be my favorite. But Stevie Nicks just has the absolutely perfect, smokey, torch singer's voice for it, though her's is a little higher than most torchie songsters.
I may not be able to handle the guitar but I hope. I can still probably play my smaller one. And the uke is getting a strap so I don't drop it! I love that "Little Flea". How sweet that you have a lady who comes and sings and plays for the residents.
Thanks for the blessings, and may you also feel a little winged blessing from a CaliGal every time you think of California.

    1. Thanks, Kwizgiver, and I agree with you. Music is balm to the soul. I't also the best thing about human beings.
I hope that I can keep posting but probably not. I've got sewing and other prep to do for surgery. I have to alter some dresses and night gowns for a soft cast. I'm going to feel like heck for awhile but it will all be worth it in the long run.

  3. Landslide is a great song. I love it too. Not one I've ever been able to play well on the guitar though. I think I try too hard.

    1. Sista Soul! About "Landslide": I'm sure you could, though I'd have to be taught it. It's a lot like any ballad, with twists. Sweet song...

  4. Great answers. I too love music "back to the beginning." I love the music of many other countries, Gregorian chant, etc. And I couldn't tell you the difference between rap and hip hop. I think hip hop was first and when I first heard it I kind of liked it, but I don't "get" it any more.

    1. Music is, as Kwizgiver said, Balm for the Soul. I agree with you, "from the beginning".. Australian music, for instance, is so other-worldly. I think the didgeridoo may have been created to be heard over long distances - with the help of cave echos, but it's still an lovely instrument even when the caves are not available to in anymore.
Hip hop was first, but then in came Rap, and hip hop sort of addapted. I like the pure stuff. I think Queen Latifa started as a singer of hip hop, and then became a rapper. Too bad, her early stuff was the best! That's when I fell in love with hip hop.

Thanks for this meme every week, Bev. My participation is going to be spotty until end of September.

    1. Fleetwood Mac was one of the best groups.
And....Rap is just so ugly a sound that I never listen to it at all anymore. Musical Trial is over! lol. Have a great 4th of July. I'll be around soon to see your blog and others. I have to get things done around here. lol
