“That anger simmers in the background,” Mr. Cassidy said. “My whole life, reading about great men and women who sacrifice for our country, who sacrifice so that we could have the freedoms that we have here today — and the idea that somebody would attempt to usurp those and destroy them?”
Senator William Cassidy, Republican Louisiana
From an article in the New York Times.
Give this guy a Medal of Freedom!
And while we're at it, it's time to send a shout out to Adam Kinzinger.
"I did it knowing full well it could very well be terminal to my career," Kinzinger said of his vote at the time. "But I also knew that I couldn't live with myself having, you know, try to just protect it and just felt like the one time I was called to do a really tough duty, I didn't do it."
He reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt:
"To sit home, read one's favorite paper, and scoff at the misdeeds of the men who do things is easy, but it is markedly ineffective."
It's time to get off our duffs....
Yes, there are still some men with a spine.
ReplyDeleteHe’s one of them...I hope his Party can soon see what they are throwing away. He’s smart, honest, decent and clearheaded. We need to get out there in the middle ground, all of us, and without weapons. We need to talk about saving the Country.
DeleteThanks for reading my blog, my friend.
