"Everyone can master a Grief but he who has it”

Saturday 9: Beautiful Day.

Unfamiliar with this week’s song? Hear it here.

1) This song is about finding joy in an imperfect world. What brings you joy today?  Frankly, I'd have to dig for it.  Let's see....  I am happy that my new flexflips and a skein of bright and cheerful sock yarn arrived. Also, these little cuties are blooming outside.

Scarlet Pimpernel

2) The lyrics mention being stuck in traffic. A poll of Boston commuters revealed that drivers have a variety of responses to be stuck in traffic — everything from bored to impatient to angry. How do you feel when you’re stuck in a traffic jam?  We live below L.A. and we have to go through it to get ANYWHERE upstate, so we've learned to just go with the flow.

3) This year Bono and his wife, Ali, celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Who is the longest-married couple you know?  Hubby and I are.

4) When Bono inducted Frank Sinatra into the Grammy Hall of Fame, he complimented Frank on his “swagger.” Do you think you have “swagger?”  No, I only have "wobble".

5) When U2 guitarist The Edge did a charity concert at the Sistine Chapel, he became the first rocker to perform there. If you were to travel to Rome, what sites would you be certain to visit?  Grant's Tomb? heehee  Seriously I would like to visit the Coliseum, and the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.  Also ANYWHERE that there is a work by Michelangelo, Rome or not.

6) This week’s song was chosen because St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, and U2 is one of Ireland’s most famous exports. What else is Ireland famous for?  Woolen Tweed comes to mind. And they have some of the best players of Irish fiddle tunes and penny whistle players on the planet.  So, their own musical traditions that have gotten world wide recognition?

7) Corned beef and cabbage is a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dish. Is it a favorite of yours?  I like the cabbage, just can't stand the corned beef.

8) St. Patrick is credited with driving snakes out of Ireland. Ophiophobia is the fear of snakes. Do you suffer from ophiophobia?  I'm so NOT afraid of snakes that it could have gotten me killed before I found out that a baby rattler is as deadly as his mama.  One dark and starry night at the campfire in Arizona my 13 year old self became enlightened.  I was chasing the little boogers down until I stopped and took a good look at their heads.  Some people we were camped with warned me.. eeeee! It least the dozen or so little snakes just faced off with me and didn't strike.

From THIS article.

Lordy they are so CUTE!

9) St. Patrick’s Day fantasy: A leprechaun will share his gold with you, but you must request a specific amount for a single item. How much would you ask for, and what would you buy?  I'd ask for 20 million worth (in US dollars) and would buy one big house in Santa Cruz.  It's a Craftsman, and it's gorgeous.  It's the most beautiful house I've ever seen.

    1. Why thank you, though Wobbling is not recommended because it so quickly leads to "falling". Lol

    1. We share that love. They are beautiful, and the one I mentioned is in about a half acre of gardens.

  4. Oh yes, to the Craftsman style house. You and I have shared our love of those gorgeous houses before, but a 20 million dollar one?! Wow. I need to see that. It is surely the Craftsman to end all Craftsman homes. Snakes are cute? Nope. Not buying it. Happy Saturday, Zippi!

    1. I love that house. It's a one story; it's huge, and it sits on a sort of headland that leads down to the harbor, with about a half acre garden surrounding it. I'm sure it would sell for around 20 mill up there. It's not for sale though. It is, as you say, a Craftsman to end all Craftsman.
Snakes are cute. Especially the little rosy boas and the hogsnakes, Garter snakes, and King snakes. They are all constrictors, and harmless. I like all the small reptilians. Alligator Lizards, Horned Toads. Chuckwallas. Happy Saturday, Stacy.

  6. You say you and your husband are the longest married couple you know. How many years? Do you beat our 56-1/2 years?

    1. Well, I now have had a healthy respect for snakes since I was 13, and no long rush in with a "Squee, I'm catching you" attitude. I learned my lesson. lol Engoy your Sunday, Lori

  9. #6 Now that you mentioned it, my parents brought back a wool sweater from Ireland back in the seventies when they visited Ireland on a bus tour (If this is Wednesday, it must be Dublin.) and I still wear it today but now it have been delegated to wear while working outside.
