DakhaBrakha — Yanky

Once upon a time I had the pleasure of meeting some people who had been displaced in the first diaspora from Ukraine, and they stole my heart.  I was 13, helping to tear down a building in Pasedena that her uncle owned in order to build an apartment building on the property.

I met a 18 year old gal and she showed me how to make the most lovely little cherry dumplings for a supper than my Dad and I shared with her Uncle and with her.  She had made Borscht, also.

I fell in love with Ukraine at that time.  The culture and the friendliness of the people. I hope they never went back there when Ukraine got out from under Russian domination.
