Today I met Misti! Yeay!

Misti is one of my SpeakeasySocks chat buddies, and we took the opportunity to get together while she was in town. I wish that I'd brought a picnic lunch today!

It was cloudy but warm in La Jolla, where it is too expensive to eat, believe me, I do know La Jolla. Anyway, we could have spent another whole hour at least together, sharing our insanity for socks and small tide creatures. She is bright and lots of fun. I hope that when she comes again, that we can hop up to Encinitas for Common Threads and Black Sheep. We will do lunch and knitting for certain then!

Misti showed me her beautiful Wilton dyed yarn which she is knitting into a lovely christmas stocking. I would have held it more and admired it, but we were headed for the car at the time. Next time when my brain isn't so badly programmed, we can sit and knit someplace over a cup of tea and some cookies.

We visited Helga's and Knitting in La Jolla and oooooo'd and ahhhhhhh'd over all the wonderful yarns, and prices. I managed to find the much talked about Socks, Socks, Socks book and actually overcame my frugality to buy it. And then I found another skein of dark colors super merino sock yarn for another pair for DH at Helga's. She has a wonderful lot of yarns in her shop, as does Knitting in La Jolla, but she had the book. Decided to spread the wealth around. Lol!

Happy Birthday Darlin! I hope it is a wonderful day from the time you open your eyes to the morning light, til the time you rest your head on the pillow tonight. We really wish we could bring an ice cream birthday cake up for you and give you a party!

Today is your birthday my beautiful first born daughter. I am thinking about you so much and want you to know that you are loved, admired and cherished more than life itself.

This is when Jazzie was only two years old. A terrrrible two year old who is willing to risk his life challenging the big dogs. He is a red poodle, all four and a half pounds of him.

These are my pet plants.. I grow them and a few orchids. Once there were over 230 of both Orchids and epiphyllums growing in our garden. Then there was the drought. You should see the yellows and Giant Whites that only bloom at night.

Ah! The second heel on the purple sock is turned!

That second heel was a dream! I even understood, finally, the Greek that was the directions the first time around. What a relief! Now I am in line to make a Christmas Stocking for an exchange and have to dig out some yarns for it from my dark little yarn closet. This should be fun, the pattern is a lovely one from Heart Strings. I'm sure I can't do the design without losing a lot of hair, but they are mostly gray anyway. Stay tuned..If I can figure out how to put another piccy up of the Christmas stocking, I will!

Socks to make!

I have some more socks to make for family! Yippie! I am going to love this part of sock making. Making something for my family and for friends. I should talk on the web less and knit more!

This is the first in the round sock

I made it of regia fingering weight, in colors my Hubby picked out in self defense. He was unsure of the outcome but is now very pleased about it. The mate is almost up to the heel flap stage, and gets knit on even while sitting in places like inside the truck at the self serve car wash yesterday. It was a big hot but it was fun.
