The Silk Yarn and the shawl it is going to become...

I can't get a picture that shows this beautiful color so I hope I can let you see, through the web page of the site, both the color and the shawl.

.Gretchen and Seawater Silk

If you click on the silk yarn kit hot link, you can get a reaaaally big close up of Seawater from there. That's what the color is. I hopped right on that color since, like many people in this world of many dirts, I love the water and especially the Seas most of all

  1. It's a beauty!

The designer says that it's really pretty easy, so I'm trusting her on this. heehee

I am sooooo in need of something this beautiful to be busy on. I think the stitch wrangling over something like 240 stitches is just what is needed right now.

  5. Hi Sue, and yes, it's very swoonworthy. hehe. There are very subtle shades that shift from pale seagreen to aquamarine and back to darker seagreen. It's amazing, with the main sea color being what you see on the thin edge of the wave in tropical waters, or where the underlayment of the beach is a lighter sand.

AR and Sharon, just as soon as the Bernat Aran is rolling along well, and I order all the proper needles for Gretchen, ( after all, some of them are going to be handy for Birch, too) I'll wind the yarn into pull skeins and take off on this pattern.

  7. Thanks for your kind words about my cats. Alot of people don't understand but its nice to come across folks who love and respect animals as much as we do.

As for the sweater seaming, I was told to slip stitch it in crochet to get a nice edge. I will try & see how that works.

    Again, thanks.

  8. Oh, it is gorgeous! And I know what you mean about the sea--I would spend all my time there if I could....knitting of course....

  9. The Shawl....Rho and alliesw Hi there. I'm planning on starting this shawl and then trying to get the rest of the needles asap. I've already got three sets of #3's that are around 25-27 inchers. The shorter 16's are easy to find but those 40 inchers.. *coughs* well *looks to Heaven*.... out of stock Addis and $25. ouch. Alliesw, I've always loved the sea and it's nice to meet so many "sealkins" here. ;0)

Adriane, slip stitching in crochet should do it. The other way is one that is used by machine knitters but it will work with hand knits if the row count is very close to equal. It gives an invisible, and I mean really invisible, seam. I love that you save little kitties. And I love that blog of yours, too.
