Update on the hurt Pelican
We were told that it was rehabbed to the permanent flock at Seaworld. It lost the wing, which isn't surprising. The permanent flock is very safe from troubles. Pelicans that hang around bays usually look to humans for hand outs and free meals anyway, and many a fisherman at the pier has lost a nice fish off the line to these birds.

Too bad he lost it's wing, but he has a safe place to live now.
ReplyDeleteHi ar.
ReplyDeleteYes, a nice safe place. I was happy to find out that it was going to alright. It is a juvenile, and has a pretty long life to go.
I'm really glad that there are more and more people in the world who really care about all animals and want the best for them. They are at our mercy no matter where they dwell and they feel pain, fear and loss just as we do.
Hello. Nice photos. I am with you on environmental issues. Been there and done that for half a century. I still provide sanctuary for wildlife.
ReplyDeleteHello Mr. Lincoln! Thanks for peeking in. How is the campaign going? Any buttons yet?
ReplyDeleteWe are kindred souls in the environmental movement, I can tell. I'm so glad there are people out there like you who do sanctuary. We used to do rescues of birds, but have no sanctuary. I admire that you are doing this. :o)
We will make a backyard habitat for butterflies and have one of sorts for migratory birds. Lots of citrus and flowering plants.
Our tortoise mom and dad are rescues and baby makes three. We used to have 7 babies but we gave some away, and some didn't make it. Our yard has a bank (hill) which they have thoroughly plowed and churned (Aerated?) for their habitats. Charming creatures.
Thank you Anonymous, for the head's up on the photos. Sometimes links go down and never come back up.
