The Eel river flow was low at the time of year we were there a few years ago, and this little plant took a hold amongst the stones of the river gravel. The Eel River had overflowed and flooded out small towns in the area in the 1960's. Evidence of the flood is still around here and there. This is a very interesting place in Northern California, beautiful, green, quiet, and serene. It makes sense that so many artists live and work here.
