I blew it!
To create a link in this thing, with a name in it, you first must put the URL in the add a link window, and then you add the rest of the "A ref= blahblahblah code AFTER saving it, and the rest of the two part code goes, happily, right where the other post says to put it. At least that part was right. There's probably an easier way but I've not found it yet.
I'm sorry :( Even though this is tagged "blog helps" it really should be tagged, "apology" or even a "Duh!"
