Hi Trish, The wood is the piece that was used to represent Winged Victory in another Accidental Art Post. It's just a very tough piece of drift wood that didn't lose it's knot. Oh yes, Mother Nature knows her business, so she does. She's a color artist!
PS. Those shell colors would make a beautiful alpaca Fair Isle. I'll make one from KnitPicks or Elann whenever the Drops Aran is finished, that being this year, I hope ;p lol
By the time I visit your blog, you've always been so busy posting, I never know where to start. But you have such beautiful pictures...love the koi pond, love the picture of your mother, and the tide pool....Glad you had a nice trip.
Thank you for your comment. That shell is complete for some reason-both halves. :o)
It's no secret that I love the oceans of the world, well the Pacific anyway. The only other "sea" I've seen is the Salton Sea but that's a mess! We go there to watch birds and that place is really smelly.
Zippi, wonderful nature photos of the shells etc and of your beach scene on the top of your page. I'd love to make an art quilt using your shell photo as inspiration! Judi73 From Artisans' Square and the postcard group.
Oooh, that's pretty! Is that silvery grey one at the top of the pic some sort of petrified wood?
ReplyDeleteThat just makes me want to go yarn shopping for some alpaca in all those lovely natural colors. What a gorgeous fair isle sweater they would make.
You just can't do better than Mother Nature when it comes to putting colors together in a pleasing way.
Trish

ReplyDeleteWell, I'm always glad to see your bright and shiny continence Rachel. Hope you are feeling better now, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the pix. That's about a month's worth. Without the kids here, it's a very quiet life. :-)
Those are very pretty shells, the red ones in particular.
