Borrowed enlightening post on Government --that's us folks! --- ownership of this and that...
"I AM AN AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE SHITHEEL
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and tTechnology and the US Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issed by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.
After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to ny house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.
I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.
----
And apparently, the Global Positioning Satellite system is POS, right?
The only reason government doesn't work is because conservative Republican administrations defunded and/or patronage staffed them with people with ties to special business interests: to wit the last FDA, Dept of Interior and Agriculture under Bush. No one seems to have a problem with pumping over $500Bil to the Defense Department which last I hear is a socialized entity."
kma healthcare trolls.. greed is going to cost more in the long run.
I frequently point these sorts of things to the many conservatives in my office. When they complain about taxes I point out that I am happy to pay mine because I really don't want to maintain my own standing army or build my own roads. They would do well to hustle on down to their free publicly funded library and learn something.
ReplyDeleteAs one of my old neighbors used to say "it's a long fight with a short stick".
Preachin' to the choir my dear. Great post, unfortunately the people that I know who really need to hear this are up to their ears in Faux News and refuse to recognize that they are the pawns of big business lobbyists.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I really wonder about the direction this country is headed in and if the sane voices will eventually be drowned out by the fear mongering crazies.
Thanks Marj and Ellen for your comments.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it looks as though the whole nation has been hijacked by the collapsed state of higher education. Plus, there are so many people barely hanging onto middle class status by working themselves to death, so they are just so exhausted. They are far too tired to finish degrees, or do much else with "free" time, besides listen to all the liars who inhabit the Faux news networks.
Prospective students are either rich enough through their parents, or they go into the service with the enticements of educational packets. Their other option is to be left to struggle through on loans and end up owing their lives to some low interest loans provided through banks - who really aren't in it for the good of THEIR souls.
I've come to realize that I could have saved myself a whole lot of reading of trash talk if I'd only gotten a PHD in History. To have that much at 25 years of age would have been awesome!
Oh, cool look for your blog...love the rose! You got me laughing on this one! I'm enjoying your various flower pics as well. can I gently say though...the hot pink at end of post are hard on the eyes...
ReplyDeleteLove your little tidbits...like the paper folding site! cool!
Thanks PJ, you are right, the colors needed some adjustment!
ReplyDeleteThat pictured rose is a neighboring yard's the hybrid tea Brandy "Rescue" rose, which we hope will be the same sort of survivor as the ones in Empress Josephine's garden in France. Some of them had been brought back after over 200 years of neglect. Whew! No human would have made it.

Glad you liked that origami site. I loved the butterflies and the bat the best. I want to find a little owl that sits on a tree branch. It was in an old book from the library and that book is gone, gone... sigh
