A friend in Chicago told us that it took him 3 hours to travel ten miles to get home last night. Hold onto your hats, New England because this storm is HUGE!
1. In New England I hope they are ready for a lot of snow. Good luck all you people! We are having rain squalls in SoCal.
2. I've always loved having LOTS of snow but I've only ever been in the Sierras in snowy times. That's pretty easy if you aren't lost in them.
3. Ahhhh, it was a fun time, and we camped our rig in a snowy parking lot for an abandoned snowmobile park. It was a lovely time, especially beautiful when the sun rose over the pine trees and snowy mountain peaks. Thanks to the kind Cal Trans people who told us where we could find shelter.
4. Organizing my studio work areas to make them work properly is my favorite thing to do nowadays.
5. Last night, I had a dream about buying sundresses from a woman who hand sewed the cutest ones. I think it means I should make some for myself. I like the ones that have short jackets called Boleros.
6. Handsewing, which is the perfect way to make doll clothes, is the way my own mother sewed all my sunsuits and other clothes because I was born during war time when no one was making sewing machines for mass markets. Once she had a sewing machine, Mother sewed more and she really was a great seamstress. She made me dresses that I remember to this day, especially my yellow and white polk-a-dotted Swiss Easter frock.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching Netflix and eating a few pretzels, tomorrow my plans include pressing pattern pieces and cutting out fabric and Sunday, I want to observe silent service, then sew, and then train a dragon!

Train a dragon? What fun!
ReplyDeleteYour answers are SO much more interesting than mine!! Now is that a pet dragon or are you a trouble-shooter in your spare time?
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for Netflix this weekend too! Glad you got your package, I hope you can find lots of fun stuff to put in it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting weekend for you. Did you make the lovely valentine wreaths?
ReplyDeleteDotted Swiss! That hasn't been in my brain for at least a decade.
ReplyDeleteI must go to a fabric store and buy some and make a wildly inappropriate dress, or something.
I love that movie!
ReplyDeletek, be sure to make one with a big bow on the back lol.
ReplyDeleteBanker Chick, hopefully it all goes as planned. And, I made all of the heart except for the spangled one in red. The most fun was made of barbed wire collected in travels on back roads. When wire is replaced along Lost Coast roads, the Ranchers leave the old wire reeled and hanging on fence posts for the artists. I was lucky enough to find a little, so made the heart hearts and wired them together. I collect all manner of rusty things. Rusty stuff is so interesting!
S, Isn't netflix lovely? And thank you again for the wonderful memory book! I'm completely intrigued with how you do those! I think I'll put my ocean memories in it. If I can do it justice, I'll showcase it. What a lovely space you've made!
Cat Noir, and Kwizgiver, about my dragons, I'm a tamer with four, in a game DH and I have played just forever. I have Holy Terror trained and now I'm training Wild Fire. Tamers have awesome pets! Cat Noir, I'm old and have lots of stories, so that explains it. hehe You will find yours. I love your blog.
Always Joy, isn't that movie wonderful? I Love it, too! Have you seen the Christmas short that the studio did of four of their titles? It's cute, too. One of those shorts is of "How to train your Dragon"
ReplyDeleteThe other night I had a dream about sewing a dotted swiss dress. Wish I could find the stuff!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen. Lovely dream, and I think there's something like it, not as thin,That's called Pindot. It's cotton and you can find it in the quilting fabrics. Happy Hunting!
