I'm always thankful when I open my eyes in the morning, and we have all made it through the night. It's the "little" things in life, you know? I'm only half joking here....
Something amazing happened. I won a contest with a Mac and Cheese recipe, and it means as much to me as it would to any cook, anywhere. My family loved this recipe, and I hope that Sabia's family does, too.
She sent me this amazing book, one like the ones she makes to sell at various small venues. Here is a woman after mine own heart, since I'm a retiree from the Art and Craft show curcuit. See her lovely family blog HERE
The colors are pastel and full aqua marine, in honor of the turquoise seas around Pacific Islands, which I love. Thank you so much, Sabia! I can't wait to fill it with memories of a trip we took to see the DDs and go all the way to the Oregon border. Of course my item of choice to collect was rocks, big ones; I'll have to think a bit about what the small objects to fill in the non-photo pages might be.
Speaking of Moyalli, the Holiday Doll..... here she is, surrounded by a few of my favorite things:
I'm about to make her a dress, pantaloons, and pinafore from that pattern under her foot, with some of the fabrics on the right. The material on the top in a plastic bag (and the dark pink) are all quilt stash, but I'm leaning to the three on the bottom. She's holding a tiny mock up of her pinafore so I think the light pink will work best.
I've also found another color set that might mean two Valentine outfits, one pink, one red.
That paisley in the first picture and at the top right is lovely and might become some wired ribbon to re-wrap the straw heart because what is now on it is Christmas ribbon! So inappropriate! We must maintain SOME sort of standards! lol!
The PBS show, "Sewing with Nancy", is where I first learned to make wired ribbon on a serger. But there are now some YouTube instruction videos, or at least two.
I'm sorry about the knitting. I still haven't found my small pliers for wire, and now the Manly/Beastly sweater yarn is missing, too. I know that I put them both in a "safe place". It is one of the worst things about getting old. You tend to put things in a "safe place" and then can't remember where that was. Ask any senior.

Moyalli makes herself useful, even without her face or all of her hair. |
