The Gal's Meme, Part One

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes (or surveys) from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard the expression, “honor among thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. When possible, we contact the owner of the blog where we stole the post. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from this new meme or recently asked questions from a previously featured meme.


We Found this gem when last week we asked for memes to steal. The Gal Herself, (my friend and the author of Saturday 9) gave us this one that she stole from Kwizgiver (my friend and the author of this meme except this summer). It's long so we broke it up. As it says above, we edit and change questions. Mostly I hate yes or no questions. So I change them or delete them. Sometimes I rewrite almost every question. That also allows the person I stole it from to play. That's not a goal but it is reality. If you think hosting a meme is easy, try it once. Okay, now time for me to shout:

Sunday Stealing: The Gal's Meme, Part One

What’s your favorite word or phrase?
"Slice" has always been my favorite word.  Maybe it's because I've always liked to cook?  Or, perhaps and maybe it's because I love little pocket knives ever since my grandpa gave me one, for later when I got bigger?

Tell us about a person who made you smile today.
Mr. Z. and he always does his best to make me smile.  He's a good Egg.

What were you doing at 8 am this morning?
Drinking the first cup of tea for the day.

What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
Watching some appalling, hysterical drama on Netflix while trying to keep the neurons all spacey and happy.

What is your favorite holiday? Why?
It's Yule.  Before we knew our daughter was sick, when she and I were emailing, we both decided to start celebrating Yule this year, 2016.  
So, I will do that this year, celebrate this lovely Holiday now and forever more - well, until I kick - in honor of Elle.  

Tell us about a visit to another country.
I've only ever been to what used to be called "K38 ", so named because it's 38 Kilometers down along the coast, just below Rosarita Beach, on the coast of Mexico.  I've been there many times, and it was a great place to surf. 
Family and Friends had ancient, tiny travel trailers along the cliff top, and some even built very small houses.  Mr. Z. and the girls and I went down to help with one of the houses.  There was fresh fish and lobster to be bought from the Rosarita fishermen, and you could buy lamp oil by the lampful. Truly lovely times and memories.

What is the last thing you said aloud?
"Well, it's not as bloody as this most of the time."  We just finished watching NCIS.  I won't do a spoiler but I'm a little sad.

What was the last thing you had to drink?
Water.

What are you wearing right now?
A night gown, so I can sleep on top of the covers and not wake up too cold in the middle of the night.  It's still hot here!

What was the last thing you ate?
A delicious dinner salad at a little place called The Fig Tree.  We will go back again.  It's in Liberty Station.  Local source, and all humanely raised, and organic.  The salad was made with the best baby arugula I've ever tasted.  Yum!

Have you bought any new clothing items this week?
No, but I put myself on a diet so I don't have to buy any new clothes.  I might get some new dresses from a place I just found on the web, if it's fair traded.  

When was the last time you ran?
Sometime before 2009, I don't run on my artificial knee.  But I'm back working the way up to walking one mile a day. 

What’s the last sporting event you watched?
I rarely watch any, So.... the Last thing was probably the Super Bowl.  I used to watch basketball at the gym sometimes.  I love basketball.  And Soccer.  I'd love to watch more soccer. Maybe I could watch it while knitting?

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'm sorry to be boring, but I would like to be able to buy land along the coast above Santa Cruz and build a little house there.  The rest of what I want to see in the world is up the coast from there. clear up to somewhere in Alaska.  Well, Ok, I'll play.  Ireland.  I'd absolutely love to see Ireland and Norway, with a side trip to Iceland and Greenland.  Too late!  My toes would drop off.

Who is the last person you sent a comment/message to on Facebook?
Sometime a couple of years ago.  I don't do Facebook nor Tweet.  Fun, but no time for it.  So, there you are.  I have to do things around here.

Ever go camping? If yes, tell us about one time.
Camping was about the only family vacations we could afford to take, and we all still love camping.   DH and I went to our rockhound club roundup at Quartzsite for two years  in a tent. They would put our little tent in between the rigs so no one would run over us at night.  After that, in 1991 we bought a small Bounder and they all breathed a sigh of relief.  Such good, good friends we made in the rockhounds.  *Sighs*  If you've never been to Quartzsite or to Tucson Gem and Mineral show, you are missing out on something amazing.  Beaders, beware.  Take lots of money!

Do you think a tan improves your looks?
No, tans I just can't manage.  I get freckles.  Always have.  I got a nice lite toast color one summer, but it wasn't worth it.  I'm part Spanish and Part French, but with all the rest of Northern Europe mixed in there I did not get the Olive skin.  Spitzky!

Have you ever lost anything down a toilet?
No, but there is a hilarious movie about an Italian wife and mother who does.  It changes her life!  It's called, "Bread and Tulips".  I'm going to watch it again as soon as possible.  I love this movie.  

What is your guilty pleasure?
I can't remember, but somehow I think it involves either yarn or chocolate.
