Climate change is putting even more stress on the last of the last. It has meant huge fires in the bone dry West, and with these fires has come a dire threat to several animals already on the brink of extinction.
HERE is an article from the New York Times about some of the species threatened by both bigger, more devastating hurricanes along the Gulf and Eastern Seaboards, and the inevitable fire storms created by drought in the West.
We should do all the creatures the honor of owning up to our part in this tragedy. They can't begin to out compete an animal so aggressive, self centered, and ruthlessly wasteful and survive.
We are talking about creatures, Other Earthlings, that it took Nature a few millennia to shape and fit into the web of life. They are going, going, and gone in the briefest of times, less than 300 years since the Europeans set foot on this continent.
And we expect God, or Angels, or even space aliens to come and rescue US? Any self respecting Extra-Terrestrials would just take off and hide behind Pluto, if you ask me.
I feel sorry for the people who would like to stop this and are working hard to do just that.
For the little children who have nothing to do with this mess,
For the people of other nations who continue to live WITH Nature and not at WAR with it.
For the humans all over the globe who are working to protect and preserve Mother Earth.
