Trump: You'd all better rise up and vote this sucker out...

TWO THINGS ESPECIALLY  Let's call this, a Blue Monday Post.

A Quote from an article in the New York Times:

" ' WASHINGTON — In just three years, the Trump administration has diminished the role of science in federal policy making while halting or disrupting research projects nationwide, marking a transformation of the federal government whose effects, experts say, could reverberate for years.
Political appointees have shut down government studies, reduced the influence of scientists over regulatory decisions and in some cases pressured researchers not to speak publicly. The administration has particularly challenged scientific findings related to the environment and public health opposed by industries such as oil drilling and coal mining. It has also impeded research around human-caused climate change, which President Trump has dismissed despite a global scientific consensus.
But the erosion of science reaches well beyond the environment and climate: In San Francisco, a study of the effects of chemicals on pregnant women has stalled after federal funding abruptly ended. In Washington, D.C., a scientific committee that provided expertise in defending against invasive insects has been disbanded.  In Kansas City, Mo., the hasty relocation of two agricultural agencies that fund crop science and study the economics of farming has led to an exodus of employees and delayed hundreds of millions of dollars in research.
“The disregard for expertise in the federal government is worse than it’s ever been,” said Michael Gerrard, director of the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University, which has tracked more than 200 reports of Trump administration efforts to restrict or misuse science since 2017. 'It’s pervasive.' "
If you would like to read the whole article, You will have to log into the New York Times .. the title is below:

Science Under Attack: How Trump Is Sidelining Researchers and Their Work

Hatred Rules this man.  He hates people who don't agree with him, don't grovel, and ones who are smarter and better educated than he is.  We needed this mutant in the Presidency like we need another war for our children to fight and die in.

And then there is this.....It's about NOT saving birds.

WSJ article on Trump's Tantrum...

First let me say... sorry for all the Hoops you have to jump through to read this Link.  It's worth it, though.

There will be no Sunday Stealing (no time this week) but I'm posting this in case any of my readers who actually care about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights will see it.

This doesn't look so bad until you see the time-lapse satellite images Horrors!

Maybe that's what you should look at first in the video.  It's dreadful.  No wonder the whole interrelated system is crashing.
This Absolutely Reminds me of what happened in King's Canyon in the 60's.  Only it's a thousand times bigger.  Or what happened in all the plains states.  Or British Columbia rain forests, or.. or.. or...

Where in the heck is the North Pole off to?

Earth's Magnetic Pole Is Wandering, Lurching Toward Siberia

And here is the LINK that follow the story...

Meanwhile, back in the land of the midnight sun....

"Earth's north magnetic pole is on the move, unpredictably lurching away from the Canadian Arctic and toward Siberia."

One thing the article doesn't mention is the effect these shifts have on migrating birds and whales.

And, as if that isn't enough to worry about, there are all of these things....

Nine Ways the World Could End...

Have fun kids!  Maybe the Earth will really get us little boogers before we can finish it off.

Thanks to Mr. Z, for pointing out the article.

Two, very early, Tuesday Tails: One funny. One is FEMA's new map of Flood danger for the entire US, so far....

I hope that this finds you all happy, and me busily knitting.  Next week is really hectic so this is being written early.

The first item is mighty interesting.  It's a Tuesday Tails because all of Other Earthlings - innocent parties who have had no part in this - are going to die, like the chickens in cages and the hogs in their pens, during Florence.

The Humans who care have to try harder to get the nitwits in Washington on board for this..

Antarctica is  rebounding  at an accelerated rate.  It also sits on it's very own tectonic plate.  And, as the ice cap there melts, the land will rebound.   This, by itself is enough to be concerned about, but combined with the new sea levels, it's even more serious.  Antarctica also has a huge dome of magma under the mantle there, not unlike the one at Yellowstone.  Geology is getting very interesting.

Time to build the New Age Ark?

HERE is that link to FEMA's New endeavor.   I looked up mine.  I dread looking up anyone else's.

Hurry up fella!  We Noah massive storm cell when we see it. C/o of Dan Piraro
Here's the fun one.  A LINK to a National Geographic page about funny animal photos.

Women of Science.... Rejoice.....And God Yes, I am A Feminist!

DH sent me THIS link to me about Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell's story from the Live Science Site,

Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell wins a Three Million Dollar Breakthrough Prize after having the been passed over for the Nobel Prize for her discovery of Pulsars.  THIS link is to her story on WIKIpedia..

And, I would like to bring to mind the story of another woman scientist, an X-Ray Crystallography expert who did X-Ray Diffraction studies, and actually discovered the structure of the DNA Helix.  She was passed over for a Noble prize in Chemistry related to her instrumental work on the structure of the DNA molecule.  Her name is Rosalind Franklin, and HERE is her story on WIKI.

This sign

has been on my (then) Sewing Room door since the 1970's when I first read about Rosalind Franklin.  I put it up in her honor.  It served as a daily reminder that Women get thrown under the bus even in America.

We have a crap system of dominance in place in this  world and it's been running things into the ground most likely since the dawn of time.  It has served us Ill.

There is one bright spot:  The Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago is named for her.   Go Chicago!

Ladies, Start Your Engines!

I suppose we should rejoice that we don't live anywhere near this event! Though, ''Tis Long ago and Far away it happened all the time... Bon Appetit!

C/o Hubble
And as if that above isn't enough to worry about, look HERE for an article on Antarctica, which should get your adrenal glands hopping.  I'm expecting the whole continent to start rebounding, and guess what that does to the rest of the mantle.  Every hear a four masted sailing vessel groan and creak?  Well, Antarctica rebounding is not going to be quiet, nor will it be Pretty.

Friday Craft day...

I've been neglecting my crafting gene, other than knitting, so the troll through Pinterest yielded this ...

From the Etsy shop, Simple Country Burlap,
whose owner kindly has made this lovely video..

And, I've set my mind and hear(t) to make it!  Hopefully in the next month....

Today I worked today, cleaning and resting; The war on dust is going well.
My sore crooked back has been with me since I was 26 and it's not going to ruin the rest of my life if I can help it.  I have, after all, hauled the ungrateful thing around for 50 years.

I'm also going to make three little burlap and felt pumpkins to go with the cornucopia that I made a few years ago.....  I feel that fall is coming and it can't get here a moment too soon.

This Image is from FairField World  and the pumpkins were created by Pink Lemonade – Keri Lee Sereika  Whose blog is HERE  but who has since graduated to the big leagues of LinkdIn and other social media...

Anyway.... Isn't Pinterest wonderful?

Saturday 9 will publish at midnight....

We need to Fix this, America...

Today is the Fourth of July, and Houston, we have a problem....

This event is the sort of outrage that is happening to black citizens.  Do you like that this fear is what million of American Parents live with? I don't.....

Buried in the news.. From the Washington Post:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/police-attacked-me-for-stealing-a-car-it-was-my-own/2018/06/29/86829292-7658-11e8-b4b7-308400242c2e_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.5da687180400

I've eschewed Politics; but this is Civil Rights. Human Rights.  And it's right here, right  now.

"This isn’t the story that I expected to be telling at this point in my life, having just received my doctorate from one of the top schools in the country. The bigger story of my life is growing up without knowing my father, losing my mother to illness when I was 8 and becoming a ward of the state.
Many people — black and white — stepped up to serve as mother, father, sister and brother to me. I persisted. The day after my foster mother kicked me out because I refused to join the National Guard, I applied to Stanford University and got in. After four years, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
I’ve done everything in my power to defy the odds. Yet I feel as though I’m forever going to have to explain myself. As for the arresting officers, are they doing any explaining? Will they have to answer for the rest of their lives for their decision to wrestle me to the ground, pummel me and charge me with a crime?
A fellow student’s impulsive action and her hasty decision to call the police have put all of my hard work in jeopardy. The arrest, the charges and the trial — a scarlet letter to go with the dark brown skin that I will wear for the rest of my life."

Think about it.  Think HARD about it.  It happens far too often, and it's happened in San Diego in the past.

Monday's little tidbit, or "Food for thought"

I came across an article on Karl Marx in the New York Times recently.  The link is HERE

No matter what you've been taught in school, this is worth your time to read.

One of the important things about Marx is that he was NOT the author of the Stalinist State Capitalism.  That personage was Stalin, a Monster who established an extremely well oiled machine for producing wealth for himself and his cronies when he finally found a landing place.

This article might surprise people in that it shows what happens when a country, or the wealthy anywhere, ignore or disregard workers, the third leg of the triangular economic equation of  Adam Smith.

As Seneca said:
"A hungry People listens not with reason, nor cares for justice nor is bent by any prayers"

To the Toupeé:  You are good at firing people.  Some might say it's your only real talent.

Not a Music Monday.....What's happening to the Jet Stream ...

When the Polar Ice melts...It affects everything on Earth...
SOURCE

This discussion never even talks about the rebound that will happen when the south pole ice melts....
This is one HELL of a big tectonic plate down there.....

The changes in our climate have been noticeably accelerating since the late 60. The elites and all their baggage had better get on board super fast, to keep us from being just dust in the wind.  And this is because, the Earth WILL save itself. It always has...

And then there is this..

Thursday 13 Apollos and a side dish of National Angst...

Apollo 1-13... but first, a word from the New York Times.....

New York Article on Bolton's Early Illegal Spying on US citizens

"It just gets worser and worser".  Did Yogi Berra actually say that?

I think we DO have some very bad juju coming down in America.  Better get out those Kevlar umbrellas...

I'm breathing, knitting, eating cookies, and reading until I check out of this Heartbreak Hotel.
As far as a list of thirteen goes, well, I'll pick the Apollo 13 flights, when everything was half ways decent in our country, and we hadn't been taken over by the Borg.

Thirteen Apollo Missions...

Apollo 1.... a tragedy.  Like many Americans,  I wrote a letter to Gus Grissom's wife and children.

Apollo 2. a lot of frightful images of a company that makes massive chicken slaughtering machines came up. BUT,  Apollo 2 never flew, and this is not just a joke.  I wouldn't kid about something so gruesome....

Apollo 3. It was launched and carried out part of the scrubbed Apollo 2 mission.

Apollo 4  This was an unmanned mission, to test the rockets and probably some other telemetry that isn't talked about.

Apollo 5 : another unmanned mission that tested the lunar module and recovery procedures  of same.

Apollo 6  The final unmanned test of the Saturn 5 rocket and the lunar module.

Apollo 7  AKA as the Walt, Wally, and Donn Show...  The link is great.

Apollo 8  This one went around the moon with it's crew of three, and it brought them back home to the Pacific Ocean... Yay!😅

Apollo 9  This Apollo Mission took the crew and the Spider (The Lunar Module) with it and did a little dance in the face of the Moon Pixies... Not bad!  They did a bunch of other tests but you can follow the link for the whole enchilada.

Apollo 10  This flight was the second extra-vehicular space exploit for the Spider.  It was the closest mission, to date, for a flyby.  A tease in other words.  It was also a full dress rehearsal for Apollo 11's mission... Close but do not touch.  It had to be hard for the astronauts.

Apollo 11.  Touch down!  A foot into that outer-space window/door.. and the famous "Giant Leap for mankind" mini speech by astronaut Neal Armstrong.

Apollo 12    This mission was to retrieve some of the other manned missions' bits and pieces for examination of the effect of the lunar environment on them, and to, of course, test the lunar landing module

Apollo 13   Just about every American alive remembers this mission.  And a very fine dramatization was made of it, Tom Hanks played the command Pilot, James Lovell.

And, of course, there were other missions after this, but 13 is the magic number..

And, of course, this all is a whole conspiracy to cover up the expenditure of such vast sums of the taxpayer's money on donuts and coffee for dancing girls and wild parties at the Space Agency, as well as big shopping trips to Europe and let's see.... garages full of Corvettes and Lamborghinis?

Taking a break to knit the things that will heal my mind.. and my heart.

I need a time out.....  see you when I have something to say that isn't political.. I'm beginning to truly dislike people over this and that is just not good.

Divide and Conquer is just TOO TRUE!

Until I feel better.. I'll just say, "Good Night and Good Luck!" Edward R. Murrow's special line.....

San Diego FIshing Boat basin, during the last fires....

As with all fires, they create a sort of  "Terrible Beauty"...  God Bless all the Emergency Workers!  May you all be safe!

IMG_2852

We finally got a good amount of rain, in fact too much and too soon, from Mendocino to San Diego counties, but the Northern Counties got it the worst.  Everyone knew that the slides and flooding would happen, sad to say.  Welcome to the world created by "The Borgs"!

From my neck of the woods, I'd just like to say that, since 2013,

2013 January little owls and stuff

We were off line all last evening and last night,  and this was due to a construction accident that resulting in the power pole along the street being leveled.  Happily, no one was hurt, or electrocuted which is a definite very Good Thing.  The crew was trying to move heavy equipment off the site ahead of the storm.  Or maybe just because they were finished with it.

Anywho......  All is well at our house, The electric came back up around 6 am, and last night we enjoyed reading books and camping atop the big, comfy bed with the Wolf, surrounded by battery operated light devices.   I would have liked to be able to eat all the ice cream in a frenzy, but alas.... *winks* Hopefully those enormous piles of dirt up there at the construction site will stay put.  We will see......

By our Humility and Grace.....

And our Compassion, we are known, and we are judged.

Burying Haiti's dead    The photos take awhile to pop into place.  Just be patient.....

Source is the New York Times

The group in this article are the people who save us from both our blind oblivion of self interest and the Narcissists of the world.

Excerpt, from the cited article, about the Catholic Priest who organizes help for the poor in Haiti.

"The Rev. Rick Frechette is the hospital’s founder. He is also the visionary behind a neighboring adult hospital, a school for disabled children, the cluster of nearby factories churning out bread, pasta, cement and school uniforms, and a dizzying array of social enterprises, among the latest of which are four industrial-size chicken coops."

Trump?  Are you listening?

Do something right now about Puerto Rico, it is your duty, and ours to help them and that help is long overdue.  I think you are a real jerk for ignoring them because the Governor of the Island made poor or misguided or selfish choices.  It was NOT the people, those who have suffered the most!

The Vote Heard Round the World..

From the New York Times OpEd section:

The Internet is Dying.  Repealing Net Neutrality Hastens that Death.

This means that all the money to build and develop the internet that was your money and my money will be wasted, and handed over to private parties.  Remember Radio?  Remember the television channels?  I do.  I'm old enough.  Well, all these things are pretty much in the hands, and content control, of private enterprise.

Kiss your two direct freedoms goodbye because AT$T and a few other MEGA players are going to OWN them.  Remember deregulation of AT$T?  I do....

We need an interstellar army to save us.... Please God... could you hurry it up!

I messed up my theme.

And I can’t get the old one back.  Hope this is readable.  Still working on it.  Tried something from the P.C.and that was a  MISTAKE,
