Today's sky at about 6 pm.  Make it BIG..

I'm knitting.  I've got nothing to show for it, other than knit-frog/knit-frog angst which is not worth sharing.  I would rather stick my head in an oven than do that to you.  I've figured out that the problem is that my brain doesn't like charts.  Because of it's  old foggie poot like nature,  my brain has to translate charts into lines, which it's used to and LIKES VERY MUCH, and therein lies the problem -  Faulty Schematics from a bygone age!  "Reet!"  Every sweater that I've knit so far, using charts, has suffered from the knit-frog dilemma.

It was a rather cooler day but a little muggier.  I'll take a little mugginess if it keeps the "eggs from frying on the sidewalk" weather that we had a day ago!   The little black dog is a lot happier that it is actually cooler with a cloud cover.  Little black dogs do not like hot weather.

I went to my sister's house and tried some wax on my face, because she knows about such things.  OUCH!  End of experiment!  She gave me a bite of her Dinosaur Egg fruit (also called a Plucot), and that soothed my lower lip a bit.  She showed me her new magazine and inside of it was a much coveted Pink Phone!  It has a dial.  I have a red one with buttons but it's must not the same.

This is a bunch of trash talk because I didn't want anyone to think I'd died of ingesting sludge from the other night, but had absolutely nothing worth saying today or yesterday.  Once I watched Ethos, I sort of gave up on most Politicians and  Corporate Heads, and just went to work immediately on a death ray that is Highly selective!  One that possesses pin point accuracy.  This is not your common garden variety drone we are talking about here.

A wine cork across the tines of the forks complete these handy tools for dusting harder to reach areas.

Now, doesn't that make you want to run out to Sally's to get some meat forks?

There's no good news today, I regret to say, but plenty of controversy!

Are we all just running around a Holodeck?

I spent the last half of Saturday watching "Breaking the Maya Code", a wonderful documentary based on the book of the same name, and which naturally led me to watch "Afterlife", where a couple of doctors who wanted to ride some sort of ego wave congratulated themselves in being "scientific" and "pioneers" of research into near death experiences, so called NDE.

Of course they were not, as that honor belongs to Elisabeth Kupler-Ross, and she's dead and can't defend herself.  So she garnered no a single word of praise from the duo, though they really should have at least given her a nod while plugging all their books.  And, what about Edgar Cayce, who also studied Near Death Experiences clear back in the late 30's?  But, then, Kubler-Ross was a psychiatrist and Cayce a lowly Psychic.  Additionally, if the NDE really does help you get over the lust for fame and money, the makers of the film should have shown that they actually Got it!  What I've learned in a life time of study is that such an experience truly does change you.

I now believe, more than every before, that it's best to forgive it all..  All of it.  We've been paying each other back for hundreds of thousands of years, and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon.  And, as we all well know, Payback is a Bitch.

So, What's the Good News for Sunday?  Let's try that thing, "Pay it forward"!  Let's be nice to strangers because in this way some have "entertained Angels unawares". 

PS.  About Guatemala, where most of the Mayans in the above film live.  Howard Hunt - see the Rolling Stone Article HERE - was once quoted as saying, "We wanted to terrorize the country", when describing what was done.  That's when Father Bill Wood's plane was blown up in mid- air, I imagine.  I remember when that happened.

And no, I'm not showing off, I am a little p*ssed off.  I want to find that software for the Mayan Glyphs and can't find a site that isn't connected with astrology.  Who cares about that?

Let's see, Good News... Well, the testimonials in the movie are good and honest ones.  It's still worth watching.  I'm still not sure it isn't something from the Christian Right, so be warned.

Don't forgot to look up if you hear something coming your way from Space!  They are coming for us, maybe.  I mean I hope they are...

OK, Everyone back to their knitting!

Over at Knitter's Review, there is a discussion of comfort knitting. I know that I'll need to have this sort of knitting. I think it will be a Baktus shawl. But here is ONE, the colors aren't my favorite thing, I like the Raverly one best as far as colors go but if you aren't a member, you probably can't see it. Let's just do a little check on that theory with a link HERE. if it works I'll leave it, and will have learned something.

Right now it's difficult to find a link that doesn't require membership to view. There is THIS gorgeous thing, but of course, it's not mindless knitting! I already KNOW that I cannot do a sock. The heel cup would end up on the toe!

You will see that over time I'll become a little less rational. My anxiety levels are going through the roof, and I'm trying not to EAT too much or WATCH too much of Hoarders - or get too crazy throwing things out for something called "Fall Cleaning" in a game I play on line. Yes, the world is after your STUFF, even in MMPOG'S!

I've got half the leg of the second sock made, and am trying to finish it before the "dread date".    I also decided that I'd found the perfect little top for my DD and the perfect yarn, Paton's Silk Bamboo.  The top is from Knitty,  The Winter 2006 issue, which I just plugged  in here now that  I found the source.  It's the Apricot  colorway,  Silk Bamboo from Paton.  The only thing I won't like about it is making all those joins in a fairly join resistant sort of yarn.  Gah!

Tonight, with the new Netflix, we are able to finally see the last half of the first season of Hoarders.

Oh my, I think I'll be right back on my organizing schedule in the morning.  I really to want to knit, dressmake, quilt and make sparkly things with metals and beads, etc.  I do not have to deal with anything else or it's storage, in my house.  I need to get rid of this ceramics thing.  It's time has come and gone.   I can still make things but they are going to be very small!

Saturday Sky at the Ranch

 

On the way out to a ranch in the back country of Central Coast, the clouds were spectacular. This is one of the sun dogs formed by ice crystals. It's a little faint but it's there.

This is what it looks like at Knitpicks  I will get a better color shot tomorrow when the sun is out. We are going to have more, we hope, rain!

This color is a rich teal blue.  The photos don't do it justice
All make it either too light or too blue.  It's not; it is Aegean.
And, it's glorious.

The new lemons

In November we had marauders running through our neighborhood, and the lemons on our tree fell victim. They took about 100 lemons and you know that they sold them the next day or so at a farmer's market. Things are getting to be like a jungle out there. Even worse was when a friend had a catalytic converter stolen in the middle of the night off her ancient vehicle parked in the street. The tow truck driver consoled our friend by telling her that his own brother had the radiator taken that way, in the middle of the night, while the vehicle was parked next to his bedroom window in the DRIVEWAY.

This reminds me of the cartoon I once saw, where the African man was standing at the door of his hut with his son, who was leaving. He told the boy, "Be careful, my son, it's like a city out there!"

I bid you peace and no little thieves running around your jungle. hehe

Wondermark

A friend from KR posted THIS SITE, and it's so wonderful that I'd like to share it with you all, some of whom I know are crazy about cartoons, and keep track of it myself! It will be in the side bar. Yay for fun!

My sister and I spent the day together yesterday, and we started getting my Stuff organized. MDS loves to organize things and frankly, I need the help. We are starting on the studio end of the big room, which doesn't have a door or even a wall (!), and is the logical place to organize first.

C.R.A.P. Discussions:

After moving things all over the place for the windows into my studio, and storing the kitchen goods there during remodeling, my poor studio is a junktumble pit full of what I call C.R.A.P. (Creative Rubble And Projects). My personal space there has loads of potential for being a great work area for sewing, quilt making,and a drapery manufacture, along with a set up for bead, metal and lapidary.

So SOOO boring, I know. But, enter C, looking for someone to boss around, and you have the beginnings of organization!

These huge spiders are gentle Wayfarers in the area, slow moving hunters. There are some tarantulas that no one in their right mind would handle but these are not those. Those wee aggressors live in the desert and are rather deadly.
