Alex gave some links, in the comments, for pictures and updates for Barbaro, the wonderful colt who is recovering from a disasterous break in his hind leg.
I put the link under fun stuff in the side bar, thought obviously it's not fun, it's a hoped for miracle. What you can see at the site is this beautiful horse in many of his races and some portraits of his configuration, and beautiful head and face. look deeply into his eyes. He has soul!
Thanks Alex. :o)

Black and white?
As you can see, the flash has gone Kaput on my digital. This may or may not mean a new camera, Pookie.
This is as far as I've been able to inch along with the scarf but it's looking good to DH and I even like the way it's distributing colors. I can knit it literally inch by inch with the splint on. But any progress is good progress!
Alex, thank you for the new pictures on your site for Barbaro. Lovely! My nervousness about him is eased every day he gets better without re-injury.
Karen, I love that about cactus. Some of the most beautiful flowers in the world on thorny mamas!

First blooms for the new Beaver Tails.
DH kindly took pictures of the Beavertail and the other flowering cactus, perhaps and Echinocereus. Sadly, I am not allowed to knit or do anything without my splint til June 5th, when the next ex-ray may free me.
I'm sending healing vibes to a very brave race horse at this time, too. Barbaro, I love you!!!!! PS: The ex-rays of his pinned leg are just horrible.

Two of the cactus, the innocent ones, are blooming.

Had to slow down
I started to get pains in the left wrist, from hefting and dangling the whole world of mine off the end of that hand. But I did still kept the bowling ball in the closet. *wink*
It's so funny that you forget about carpal tunnel until it starts pinching you in the er... arse.
The scarf is chugging slowly along but a KNOT appeared which will have to be Russian joined. Isn't acrylic yarn fun? :p
There will soon be a picture of the zipper (probably tomorrow) that was installed by a non-board certified plastic surgeon (I found him in the Yellow Pages) who lives over the local pizzeria and works from his home. No one else wanted to do this surgery even though they did think it would be handy in the queues at the airport. More on that later.
I've reverantly covered the spinning wheel, and DH will wind off the singles before the moths eat all of it. A couple of visits to the freezer should take care of any little critters trying to make their living at my expense.

Knitting again and Big Thank you's for all the good wishes and vibes!
This came at the perfect time. I was just so bored. I had to take the plunge into big needles and terrible tension on the stitches, but, what the heck! The needles are the lightest I have in size ten; they are OLD OLD plastics but have their charm. One of my kittie's teeth marks, Kato's, are on the tips. The yarn is a novelty acrylic from the stash that DH likes, so it's going to be a scarf and a hat for him. I can't tell you how good this feels. When the final stitches came out of the arm today, a milestone was reached.

Happy Mother(ing)'s Day! Hee Hee.. I took a hint here from the KR topic.
This is for all the nurturing Angels out there. You all know who you are. Mother's Day is for you all and so are my wishes for a Happy One.
This Image has been floating around cyberspace for awhile and I can't credit it to anyone in particular, but who ever did it is a genius at creating beauty in pixels.

Le Scarr
It's healing up so fast it's a bit scarey. I am soooo happy. Happiness at this intensity scares the heck out of me. Thanks for all the help! Good thoughts, vibes, and prayers have made this possible. I am doing what Meribeth suggests, knitting bigger needle things. The shelter mats and somemore on the bandages. Whoot!
De Duve
This is Mama Dove, who was not sure we were at a safe distance from her precious wee egg.
The post title comes from the title of a spoof film directed at Swedish film maker Ingmar Bergman's overblown romanticism. If you get a chance to see this funny film, you'll never forget it. My sister, DH and I always use the term, "De Duve", when we hear one of the mourning doves anywhere around. This happens because, in the movie, the doves wings were heard then one of the characters would say, "De Duve!" just before the famous "deposition" from above appeared on their forehead.

Thank you every one
I have four more weeks at least, according to me PT provider before I can knit. I'm trying to be very, very good about all my sets and repeats in the exercises so that maybe I can get it down to three weeks. This was the second PT appointment day and the hand is coming along fabulously.
In honor of my sweet DH and all his hard work and great nursing care, I'm finishing his socks and his sweater before doing anything else at all. I want to give him these things in a timely manner.
I've had a lot of time to think. After this fall, I am getting anger, hatred and revenge out of my life and thoughts. That's it! No more for me! EW! EW! a sermon ALERT! I'll be going back to my Quaker roots but taking the path there that goes through Bottisatva Lands.
Since the Judeo Christian Deity said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay", I will listen to that admonition. I think He really meant it. I also choose to "be in the world but not of it". I mean to spend my meager life energy trying to do what little I can to help people who are in trouble, especially those who are in harm's way because others are obviously not listening to voices of generousity, compassion or forgiveness.
The Dali Lama was once asked if, having lost his country and his people, did that not make him very angry and vengeful. His reply was something to the effect that of course it made him very upset but did that mean he should also lose his mind? I don't want to lose mine either. I want to help people, as we are all brothers and sisters.

A bad picture of a miracle device, hey it's 2 am.
This little honey has me two hand typing and mouse wrangling almost up to the full level of my incompetence. =0) I am so thankful for the wonderful care that I've received from all the health care professionals from the ER to the surgical suite and on to the Steven and crew at PT. I am sending them all a warm fuzzy through the star map trails! (((((BIG HUGS)))) and Thank you for every thing. Blog buddies, thank you for your healing thoughts and prayers. It's a big double blessing. And... knit6ting is good therapy.. so as soon as I can get my thumb completely back line, I'll be KNITTING!

Z for Zeolite? Put on you hiking boots. We are trekking!
Zeolites
are in a group of silica minerals from which come several popular semi-precious gem stones. One of the most familiar is Moonstone, an Oligoclase family groupie.
Back tracking from thetecto-silicate subgroup it's easy to get lost but the journey is worth it.
I don't have a picture of my own Oligoclase crystals to show you but you will find Oligoclase in it's common form in most any granite countertop you encounter. Look for the whitish bits that may or may not look like mutton fat. Those are little bits of feldspar, the "sur name" of Oligoclase and Orthoclase.
I was thinking of doing "zipper" but it just seemed too easy. Now I think it would have been a lot smarter to do! Hope this does not give anyone hives, ant bites, or a headache!

Sitting in the Garden, and the start of a retrograde A to Z project
I've been sitting in the garden- standing really- in full defiance of the eviction notice it issued me last week. Trish, I'm being very, very careful.
DH went to the rockhound general meeting last night and brought home two lovely napped spear points made by our friend who has taken up that hobby. DH had to be coaxed out of the house by both our friends and my own assurances that I would not be stupid enough to do anything but sit and watch videos for two hours. What I actually did was watch talking heads for about half that time, planning a crazy quilt top from their lovely silk ties! I especially loved the yellow one worn by a professor who commented on the price of oil. I suppose that the red power tie this year is yellow? Anyone up on power ties this year?
I've been watching, with fascination bordering on horror, a PBS show called "The Texas Ranch House" I can't understand why there haven't been more lazy butts kicked back to the stage coach route. Is anyone else watching this show? I would have pistol whipped at least three of the cowboys by now, but that's just me... *smiles a school marm smile*
The first Letter is Z.. I am going to go backwards. I've still not got a tenth of my pictures back from the crash so maybe tomorrow. Z is for zenophobia. ooops! that doesn't start with a Z. *slaps forehead and hopes all the librarians are still asleep.*
Five more days and it's gone!

"Three Girls in a Flat"" , autobio of three girls on there own in Victorian (?)England.
rho kindly suggested reading books on-line so there were no heavy books to hold, so I took the bait. I picked one likely one about three girls sharing a flat in London in the 1800. Thanks Rho. :0)
Our Flat
This book, along with Taost Harmony and Balance studies and Esperanto flogging should get me thought my knitting depro. eh?
