 I really like music and so I stole this from a blog called The Green Hearth, who says that some of these are "f*ing hard."  And they are, but I thought they were fun.  Let's give it a try.

We used to have a lovely sound system in the Jeep but it's gone south.  I used to listen to Julian Bream's recordings, and some of "America" and all the Rockers.

I didn't really get to listen to any music other than my parents' Benny Goodman, Harry James, Glenn Miller, and Arty Shaw records when I was a pre-teen, the songs of which I learned by heart.  I never even had my own radio until mother bought me a little transistor one when I was 13.  And, then .... there was the lovely ELVIS!  Squeeee!

Thoughts for a Thursday 13.

1. I'm not as stupid as I seem but I'm also not as smart as I think I am.
2. How long will we all be stuck in this karmic cesspool?
3. How many wars promulgated by a "master" race can this fragile earth stand?
4. I'm reading about the Japanese invasion of Malaysia.  I can only shake my head and think of the long, long arm of history.
5. It's not looking good for the knitting.
6. If you have a inoperable brain tumor, what's wrong with eating nothing but ice cream in your final weeks?  Who the frack cares?
7. My house looks marginally better.  I'm getting rid of books.  Some I'll make into projects, though I promise you will not miss them from the bibliographic gene pool.  They will be those which have many siblings.
8. The silly doves have started yet another nest under the patio cover.  Will they never learn?  In the fall, we will blast all their nesting twigs out of the crevice, and the neighborhood cats will go hungry, I reckon.  Cats eat doves, coyotes eat the cats, our own, tiny "Circle of Life" drama goes on.
9. I have far too many baskets.  Someday I'll display 13 of them and give their history for this meme.
10. I have a second hand lamp collection and plan to bore you with as well.  After all, Lists are lists!
11. I can't wait for the "body count" in Washington D.C. to go higher.
12. I found my ukulele chord charts, a big plus!!  Of course all of this stuff is on line, but I like the books.
13. The Alan's Hummingbird is back, and just as feisty as ever.  I love this little bird.  He goes south for the winter and works his way back up from Mexico to be here in mid spring.

Gleep.  Bud has been very nice to me, but now it's my first week!  While I'm getting my feet wet, I'm posting a meme I found a long time ago at http://simplyshannon.com/, a site thathas moved around a bit but is apparently still active.  As this is my first Sunday Stealing, it seems appropriate to do a list of firsts.  I'm hoping I get Mr. Linky to work...still trying....

First Sport Played:  Baseball, softball actually.  In grade school

First Concert:  The way back machine tells me that it was an open air concert by the Redland's University Symphony.

First Foreign Country Visited: I originally thought it was Mexico, in my 20's but, it was Canada. You see, my grandparents owned a share of a cabin on the edge of Lake Erie with the rest of Grandpa's family. This was when I was a tiny 4 year old kid.  We went across the lake into Ontario, Canada, from whence my Grandpa and his family had come. 

First Favorite TV Show: 
"Rocky and Bullwinkle" 

First Favorite Actor: 
My mother was crazy about Alan Ladd, so I sort of picked that up from her.  You did say the "first". 

First Favorite Actress:

First Girlfriend/Boyfriend: 
Girl friend.  Vi was my BFF almost all the way through grade school- K thru 5th.  She "grew up" before I did and there was some  trauma/drama involved at one point, with professions of love on my part.  I have NO idea to this day what her reaction was all about, but I can now "Guess"....I just meant I loved my Bestie.  But, apparently, she was too mature to understand this meant nothing more than undying filial love. Well, there's a first broken heart, for ya.  First Boyfriend was Mr. Z.  So romantic.  

First Encounter with a Famous Person: 
Santa Monica Grey Hound Bus Terminal, etc etc.

First Brush With Death: 
Walking into a school shooting to rescue some kids.

First House/Condo Owned: 
A sweet little three bedroom in Nestor, CA.

First Film Seen: 
I thought it was to be, "The Red Skeleton".  Actually it was Red Shelton in a comedy.  But I thought my youngest auntie's had said, "The Red Skeleton" and I was having nothing to DO with that!  They finally convinced me to come with the rest of the little cousins. However, the two aunties (who were 7 and 8 years older than me) as well as my grandparents, older aunt, and my mother, all thought my mistaken idea was a Royal Crack up!  UPSHOT...I enjoyed the film very much!

First Favorite Recording Artist: 
Bill Haley (and the Comets)

First Favorite Radio Station: 
It's really too far back to remember the call letters.
I think it was probably the one with Huge Power wattage that broadcast from somewhere in the mid west.  I listened, with my little brother, to the Lone Ranger, The Shadow, and Gracie Allen on it.  This was in the late 40's.

First Book I Remember Reading: 
I remember my Dick and Jane and Spot books.  I still have one of them, though it's thoroughly loved to death.  It was sent to my mother when my grandmother died, and then I received it back when my own mother passed away and I got her Hope Chest.

First Meme You Answered on Your Blog:
I think it must be the now defunct Friday Fill-ins.  It was a lot of fun!  There were prompts and you filled in with whatever you thought would be a good finish to the sentence.  It had a long run and there's nothing like it on the web that I can find.


Bedroom: what’s your sleep schedule?
I have finally learned to take NAPS!  We go to sit in bed and read about 10 pm.  Then DH almost immediately falls asleep because he gets up at 4 am, C/O of the little doggie.  Little pestilence!  And I go to sleep about 11:30 and wake up around 3.  That's it for me!  And, thus, I am learning to take, and relish, the naps!

Kitchen: favorite comfort food?
My favorite comfort food is home baked bread.  Not the machine kind, mind you, but the real deal.  Since I no longer make it, that's giving way to chocolate, which is not a bad trade at all.

Washroom: showers or baths? bubbles? bath bombs?
I like to take baths but can't anymore.  So it's showers, which are nice because they are so quickly and easily dealt with.

Closet: sum up your style in a few words.
I have half a main closet and a full closet in the sewing (box) room. Is there really such a thing as style for closets?  I guess I try to hang all of the nightgowns together at the left, and then the shirts, and the cloak closet I hang my slacks and some fleeces.  Ooops, that's another closet. Oh well!

Parlor: favorite party or board game?
I would like to play chess, but am too lazy to learn, so I guess the is favorite now is LRC or maybe, scrabble.

Living room: what do you like to do with your family?
We watch Netflix in the living room.  I like to sit out there and knit with the kids when they are here.

Dining room: favorite special occasion food?
Pies of the season!

Garden: favorite tree? flower?
We used to have two elms, ones which my mother started in coffee cans for me.  That was before the years and years of this miserable drought.  Flower?  I think I like all the lilies.  But flowers are so special how can one chose just one?  Actually, that applies to trees, too.  Who can pick a favorite without thinking of all the other amazing ones in this world?

Attic: what’s one thing you have a sentimental attachment to and you will never throw away?
Thanks to the California ranch house mania of the last 60 years we have no attic.  I can't even remember a house of a friend which has one.

Library: favorite book genre?
Non-fiction, I like history.  Fiction, I like Mysteries.

Office: if you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
Well, not in an office, that's for sure.  I would like to be a seascape artist.  Or, a field Anthropologist.

Guest room: have you been to a sleepover? if so, when was your first? do you like them?
I like the ones that the Girl Scouts used to have.  The camping ones.  I like those sorts of sleep overs.

Foyer: do you like small gatherings, large parties, or one-on-one meetings?
I like small gatherings.

Pantry: favorite meal to make?
Lasagna.  It's so much fun to make Lasagna.

Laundry: favorite and least favorite chore?
A chore is a chore, but, having said that, I like keeping the kitchen clean.  I don't like it when it isn't clean.  

Garage: favorite mode of transportation? favorite car?
I like our Jeep.  I love that little booger.  I especially liked to go off road with it.  It was so much fun!

Panic room: what was the most nerve-wracking experience you’ve had?
The shooting at the school in '79.  I cried myself to sleep for weeks, and had nightmares for months afterward, and I kept thinking I had to go up there and put blankets over the  two men who died there.  It was horrible.  Now they have sold the school and are ripping everything out.  It feels so wrong.  I'd move away if I could.

Powder room: do you wear makeup? if so, what one item can’t you live without? what’s your favorite look? 
I don't wear it.  I'm beyond the ability of make up to "make it better".  My favorite look?  A smile.

We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions! 

Saturday 9: Don't Stop (1977)... because Country Dew recommended Fleetwood Mac

1) Since we're not supposed to stop thinking about tomorrow, let's talk about it: What are your plans for Sunday?
I plan to stay home, stand/sit up straight, eat good things, do the laundry, and watch Netflix. No Gym, no dashing about.  Just PEACE!  I've had enough organized madness of any kind to last for the rest of my life.

2) Fleetwood Mac was formed 50 years ago in London. Fifty years is considered a "golden anniversary." Do you wear more silver or gold?
I like silver best and wear it almost exclusively. 

3) This song is from Rumours, which has sold 40 million copies. Is it in your collection?
Oh ya.  I have almost everything Fleetwood Mac recorded.

4) It was written by keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie. She was born Christine Perfect, a name that earned her a fair share of teasing when she was a school girl. Do you recall being teased in school? What about?

Hold onto your hats,Ladies. It's a mini rant! Teased, no.  I got the usual brass plated bullying - I was beaten up in second grade by half of a class of 6 year olds because of my "race"??  If any of them missed hitting me, I didn't have time to take note.  I am Species: Human Being.  And I'm 8% Native American, and 92%, fracking WHITE European!  
Plus there was the really heavy duty behind the scenes fragging from bigoted teachers and staff.  All teachers are NOT created equal and/or fair.  Los Angeles County School Districts used to be teeming with bigotry, and may still be.  Who knows? I think bigotry is the downfall of civilization. Sorry Gal, Meme's are not even a close second. 😉

Kids out there are still going through this..  Come ON America!  If you are too lazy or "MEH" to get your arse out there to vote, since 40% did not, think about doing it for the KIDS!  

5) Before Fleetwood Mac, she was in a band called Chicken Shack. If you were to order out for a chicken dinner, which restaurant would you turn to?
I never eat chicken out.  Not any more.  

6) Before she could pay all her bills with her music, she supported herself as a window dresser for a London department store. Do you enjoy walking along, just window shopping? Or do you consider "looking with no intention to buy" a waste of time?
Window shopping is fun for those who like it.  It's probably a great pleasure.  But for myself I'm extremely focused, and window shopping is time better spent doing something else.  My sister loved to window shop.    

7) When she found herself making big money, one of the first things Christine bought was a pair of matching Mercedes for herself and then-husband, John McVie. If you were handed a check for $1 million, what's the first thing you would do with the money?
I would buy as big a house as possible, in or near Santa Cruz.  The the kids could live in it.  That would make me happiest right now.

8) The other girl in Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, founded the Soldier's Angel Foundation. She believes in the healing power of music, and so she's proud to provide wounded soldiers with iPods already loaded with music. When you listen to music from your phone, MP3 player or iPod, do you use ear buds or headphones?
I listen with headphones or speakers.  My hearing is already fading and I don't want to push it over any cliff. I need new speakers for the nano.  Thanks for reminding me!

9) Random question: Let's pretend your high school reunion is coming up. Which classmate are you more curious about: the one who was your first date, or the one who was too cool to give you the time of day?
My first date didn't happen in high school.  But, the one I'm curious about is my friend Steve.  He wasn't headed for college, and I think of him a lot. The reason?  I am a war baby, and lived through the Vietnam war protests as a teen and young adult.  I detest a war culture for very good reasons.

So,anyway, I've only kept track of one other person from high school. Somehow, maybe because he was married, or was playing in the major leagues, he didn't go to Vietnam like almost all the other young male classmates.  A lot of both mine and Mr. Z.'s classmates did, and far too many of the ones who made it back were all messed up.  
Anyway, the second part of your question: at my last high school, the cool ones were always nice to everyone!  I hope they are all doing well.

Saturday 9: Fastball's "I Will Never Let You Down"

 1) Fastball is a trio from Austin, Texas. Austin is the capital of Texas. When you were in school, did you have to memorize the state capitals?
Yes, I think everyone did before the bean counters took over the Curricula. But, well, that's just me.

2) Have you ever visited your state's capital? 

Rant alert.. in which I get mouthy:
Sacramento is not along the coast but inland. For a Southern Californian to visit the capitol, it's a long trek.  Unlike Albany, in  New York, Sacramento is over 500 miles up the Central Valley from San Diego.  This route is hot, inland, and smoggy in places.  And you still have to go through L.A.  or even through poor little overgrown Fresno.  So, No. 

We have a very long state.  Also, we've been up close to the Capitol, as we went the inland route across the valley, stopping at a private "Camp Ground" along the Russian River.  That was the most terrible place we've ever had to stay overnight.  It was just dreadful to see and have no ability to help. There was such misery there it was horrible. Be aware, it's not all nice wine resorts.  This place had turned into a migrant worker's camp and it was heart breaking to see and to smell.  I know it's worse in Africa and inner cities, but this just wasn't right in one of the most productive and beautiful counties in the Country.

3) Fastball played dates throughout Canada this past spring. When did you last leave the US of A?  
That would have been years ago, on surfing excursions just above Rosarita Beach in Baja.  I would really love to see Canada though, if for nothing else but the birds up there.  I don't want to go through the check points, though. Now, to be honest, I'd rather fly up to Alaska and bird list all the birds there.

4) Tony Scalzo is a founding member of Fastball. He's the singer in the video for this song, and that's his wife, Jennifer, playing the organizer of the speed-dating event. Have you ever gotten a job because you knew somebody?
 Sort of.  I knew two people who worked for Pacific Bell, one was my soon-to-be hubby, and so when they told me I should apply for an Telephone operator's job at PB, I did.  It was fun except for split shifts.  They are very hard and I hated them passionately!

5) In this pitch to a perspective lover, he admits he doesn't have much money. Last time you went to the ATM, how much did you withdraw?
It was years and years ago, when you couldn't withdraw anymore than $300 a day.  I would get money for Grocery shopping - So, probably $150.  So, as you can surmise, I didn't have to have that much cash on me for long. 

6) He sings that at times, his mind is hazy. Do you have a good memory for names?
I remember faces forever but names, not so well.  It takes a few times, and then the face gets fixed to a name.  

7) Fastball guitarist Miles Zuniga admits that he once had a crush on Carrie Fisher (aka Princess Leia). Tell us about one of your one-sided love affairs, either with a celebrity or someone you knew in real life.
How about two?  I had a wee crush on a redheaded boy in grade school, then on a star football player in high school, a very tall and husky redhead who also played basketball.  He was a very nice guy, and still is. Anyway, he didn't have a clue.  

I seem to have had a "thing" about redheads my whole life.  Mr. Z is/was a redhead.

8) Fastball's drummer Joey Shuffield is partial to drums from Pork Pie Percussion. This company was started by Bill Detamore, who began making drums as a hobby. Do you have any hobbies that, under the right circumstances, could make you money?
I once did.  Now that my hobby craft business is over, it's just an "embarrassment of riches", i.e., an unmanageable pair of stashes, "une duoleur  royale"!  

9) The fast ball is the most common pitch in major league baseball. Now that the MLB season is past the halfway mark, how is your baseball team doing?

Gee, another rant?  Here we go:Really, I would have to look that up.  I have no idea at all.  I'm still P.O.d that they built a stadium before a new central library was built.  $271,000,000 worth of stadium.  Oy Vey!  Happily, the rose colored glasses came off the citizen abuse, and the San Diego Chargers are not to be "treated" to such public tax "largesse".  Am I sore?  Yah.... WTH?

Easy way to get photos from desk top to Instagram.

Duh!  Mr Z pointed the way.  You email your own photos to yourself and pick them up from your email app on the iPhone or iPad.  Sheesh...  *slaps forehead*.  So very easy and Backward intuitive.  Could it be called Ghetto Hack?

Anywho...Forget about having to plug your phone into the DT, having first put all the photos into a folder, then having to transfer the folder to your phone, yadda yadda...

I am SO going to have ice cream tonight to celebrate this victory over app techno complexities.

Random Stuff: Blog changes I'm trying, singing bowls... Native American flute

I've decided that, to cut down on the false number of comments which embarrasses me a little, all comments will be answered a day or so after a meme post so that I can do the @ "so and so" thing, like Instagram sort of does.  So, if you subscribe to comments on the blog, you will see it.

I'll try to keep up the 4 meme's each week, WW, T13, Saturday9 and Sunday Stealing.  Try is the watchword.
But Tuesday Tails will be sporadic at best.  I will post adorable pictures of our aging little mutt, though.

I like the blog, the longest running diary I've ever kept.  But I'm becoming anxious over not getting enough exercise, and not getting rid of habitat clutter in a timely way.  Today I got rid of more magazines and am freeing up space to work as fast as possible.  I like to re-cycle almost everything that IS recyclable.  Nothing makes any sense but to do that anymore.  We are going to pay a big price for not taking extra care of our Planet at this point.  It's almost too late.  And, if Steven Hawking is right, it is too late.  Hope the ultra sucky rich like Mars!

Here and there SOMETHING that is fun or funny will hit my eye and that will be in a random post.  Random it will be.... sorry.  Pressing issues.

These are my life savers..... The tones of these really calm me down, and settle my wonky heart.

DH bought me two singing bowls.  The small one is a replacement for my heart Chakra, and the larger one is one is called, "Third Eye".  I wanted that one when we first saw them all.  The manufacturer is different, but the bowl sounds pretty nice though it's harder to play.  The little one is the twin of the one we gave to Gee.  I tried, and failed to make a video stick in here.  Oh well....



And then,  there is this....



I love them both these stress busting practices.

Sunday Stealing: The "Put your Questions in a Box" Questions

First of all:  I would like to say a BIG Thank YOU to Bev for carrying on with this!

1. Where were you three hours ago?
This is being done at 1 pm on Saturday.  So, I was in the Gym, learning Myofacial Release techniques from a trainer.

2. Make a confession.
I confess that I'm struggling with anger issues.  The are starting to spill over and that has to stop.

3. Bad habits?
My worst habit is that I don't give a hoot about so many things anymore that I appear to be lazy.

4. Favorite color?
It has to be Blue.  I like it coming and going, year in and year out. I used to think it (meaning the favorite) was all the rainbow of colors.  But, it's really just blue.

5. Can you drive?
A car, yes, a buggy no.  A boat, yes, a ship, no.  A Mac Truck, no.  I can't drive a bargain either.  I hate bargaining.  I'm really BAD at it!

6. 3 pet peeves.
A. Why can't they live longer? They live a long time, but not long enough.  Elle said that when Jazzie died.
B. Why do they take their own sweet time when you tell them, "Come!"?
C. Why is it that every time you don't want them to come jam their hot little bodies into the chair next to you, they do anyway AND it's the chair that isn't big enough for the both of you?  Thank God for AC!

7. Last person you hugged.
My sweet Hubby.

8. Something you miss.
Being in the kitchen making things with my daughters.  Christmas Cookies, Tacos, Enchiladas, teaching them to make Tortillas.  All that stuff.  Pie and Cake baking.  Candy making.

Sorry there just isn't one today.  I had an ear worm for a few days but subsequent developments have made it flee.

10. Favorite quote.
It's a Midwestern saying I learned from my Big Brother/Neighbor,  "The first hundred years are the hardest."

11. Favorite band.
My favorite is the Symphonic.  But, actually, I have no single favorite.  I do like Metal Bands but I also like Blue Grass Bands.  Let's just say, "The Gamut".

12. Some thing you're excited for.
Getting rid of things. I'm also tepidly excited about finishing that Aran sweater so I can move on.

13. Favorite movie.
I have to no current "Favorite".  And , it's very hard to pick an all time favorite. 
We just watched a true story about an African girl who had her life changed when a teacher taught her to play chess.  That's my current favorite.  Here's a link to "Queen of Katwe"

14. What type of phone do you have?
I have a land line and cell.  The land line: the time when it was the only thing that worked due to an 18 hour power outage convinced us that our decision to keep it was right.

Earthlings, meaning ALL of them.... even that horrid little bipedal ape who thinks he's the best thing since God sliced up the Bread fruit tree in Eden.

1) In this song, Steve Miller claims he's a picker, grinner, sinner, lover, smoker and joker. Do any of those six words describe you?
Maybe a "picker", but it was a long time ago.  I still pick out small tunes on my ukulele now so maybe a little.  Playing a musical instrument is supposed to be an excellent stress buster.  So, dig out those bongos!

2) He maintains he's still a midnight toker. When's the last time you got high?
Oddly, for my time of coming of age, I've never, ever, been high.  Well, if the ghastly stuff I was on at the hospital after knee surgery doesn't count.  Blech!  The pictures on the wall became animated movies!  So, maybe then?

3) The lyrics include a reference to peaches. Name your favorite fruit.
This is hard.  Apples?  Maybe strawberries? I love all the berries. But mangoes are right on their heels.  Golden Berries are my newest berry madness.

4) This song had a big impact on the character of Joey on Friends, who had an imaginary friend named Maurice with the occupation of space cowboy. Did you ever have an imaginary friend? 
I did.  His name was Michael.  He may still be around...  Do they ever really go away?  *cue spooky music*

I could sing the blues most any day.  I just choose happiness.  I tell myself, out loud works best, "You are not going to cry over this now; however, you may do it later."  That usually helps.

7) In 1973, when this song was popular, you could buy a portable 8-track tape player for $44.50. On what device do you listen to music most often?
I don't have any one device that predominates.  I have an iPod nano.  Also I listen on YouTube.  And then I play CD's on the old stereo at Christmas.  That is lovely.

8) A Curious George book packaged with a Curious George plush toy was a big seller at Christmas 1973. Tell us about a toy -- either given or received -- that brightened a holiday or birthday for you.
I'm choosing to ignore that ONE toy thing.  I didn't get toys, per se. Except for my kewpie doll. It was from my grandparents but it's too far back in the dusty past to remember if it was for Christmas or a birthday anymore. 
I think my favorite birthday present was a typewriter when I was 10 or 11.  My mother saw that I got it.  And, a tea set (adult size) for Christmas when I was maybe 14 which my mother also saw that I received.  She was as good to her kids as she could be.  I know it wasn't easy.

AS TO Giving....I think the things my girls liked the best were their skates.  These skates were the modern ones, that you could dance with.  They were awesome!  I did make them all dolls some of which they still have.

I really can't remember, but he had a mustache.  The twins were under one year old, and I fell asleep a lot in the evenings. lol

I'm doing all the things that can be done.  Also, had a very interesting dream last night.  It was almost like I was awakened, and someone was talking to me (In the dream, I woke fully but the dream went on).
A man, a thin one with a bald head was talking to me.  He was a sort of Nordic type.

Anyway, he was telling me that I was free of many things from the past and other "worries".  Things that I worry about and ache over.  He was setting me free from these thoughts.

One thing I'm certain of is that he didn't represent Jesus.  I don't want anyone to have the wrong impression.  But this person had some standing (ranking) in a mixed group who all wore robes.  He was the only person that I saw though I did hear someone else talking as well.  Somehow, this has made me feel better.  And, when I woke all the way up, I felt less sad; though not supremely happy, just less sad.

We have sold the really nice Webco table and chairs.  But, now, I'm thinking of keeping the little wooden set.  They were made in Indiana I think.  Anyway, there is something about wood, and something about an item this unique, that makes me say, "Keep This".  I've regretted getting rid of wooden things before, and don't want to rue the day I sold this set.  The two of them took up so much space, even when folded!

The  metal set was bought for a time that I was in a Bunco group, and we needed more seating. If you've never played Bunco, you are missing out!  My wooden set is older, and I bought it from my sister when she moved here years ago.  But, as you can see, those little wooden sets are sort of hard to let go of.  I have no connection to that company, but they certainly have the Bunco rules down pat!

I've torn through my magazine clipping collection and freed up space - Lots of Space.  In a few days, when the fever from the excitement of seeing old project papers wears off again, I will go back with a vengeance and rip through it all again.  I did find a pattern for a knitted doll.  My knitting fingers are itching to do small things, and once the Manly Beastly is knit, assembled, blocked, and ON THE MAN,  I will do little things again.

Meanwhile, I will be watching some hoarding shows to get the motivation to crank this up a notch.  I really mean to be a grown up about it all.  And, it's not all a grind.  I did find some old things that are treasures.

Sunday Stealing: Last The 40 Questions from Bud

1. My uncle once : told me, when I was 5 years old, that I'd never understand grown ups until I was one.  I still don't understand them, Uncle John.

2. Never in my life : have I seen a Coatimundi in person, but I'd like to have one for a "pet".

3. When I was seventeen : I graduated High school.  

4. High School was : trying.  I'd never want to go through it again.  God Bless the Young!

5. I will never forget : meeting my Turkish friend at Dana Point to sunbathe and swim after we both had graduated.  Dana Point at the time, had killer surf - the kind that would tumble you over and over if you didn't body surf all the way in.  We had a great time! She still lives, during the summer, at a place along the Mediterranean, and actually very near the Dardanelles in the winter.

6. I once met :  Robert Tailor in a bus station in Santa Monica.

7. There’s this girl I know who :  ... just graduated high school, and plans to be a teacher like her mama.

8. Once, at a bar : we went every week to listen to blue grass music.  Then it got to be so oppressively smoky in bars that we quit going.

9. By noon, I’m usually : feeding Wolfie his noon treat.  Yes, he's a spoiled little baby dog but we love him.

10. Last night :  we watched some of that English baking show, and then the one about living in Alaska above the arctic circle.  You have GOT to love Netflix!

11. If only I had : gone back to school and finished my education when the kids were still small.  Special Ed teachers have one of the best jobs on the planet, and I would have been one. And I would have had the money, and know-how, to send all the girls to great schools.  Teachers know tricks of the trade when it comes to getting grants and scholarships.

12. Next time I go to gym/church : I will have to remember to hold my tongue.

13. Susan Boyle : was a great and lovely happening in this world.  I wish her the best.

14. What worries me most :  Is the ignorance of what constitutes true Tyranny and Americans' willingness to put up with it!

28. My ideal breakfast is :  fruit, CLIF bar, and some dark chocolate.  I'm losing weight. Wheee!

1) This week's song was performed by James Cagney in the famous movie of the same name. Do you plan on going to the movies this holiday weekend? 
Nope.  I don't plan on going anywhere.  I'll just stay home and read my book, and cuddle my dog. I will, maybe, watch some Father Brown mysteries.  This week's song came out the year I was born.  Hmmm.. Kewl!

2) Though known for his larger-than-life screen presence, Cagney was only 5'5". How tall are you? 
On a good day, I'm 5'2".  

3) During the Revolutionary War, General Washington celebrated the 4th of July by giving his troops a double ration of rum. Will you imbibe any spirits this holiday weekend?
Not likely.  

4) American history was one of Crazy Sam's best subjects in school. Science was her worst. In which class did you earn your worst grades?
Arithmetic. Always got B's with a major struggle!   And got a B in Algebra because of it.  I Hate it.  Other maths?  I love them.  

5) The Fourth of July means we're in the middle of summer. Are you careful about applying sunscreen?
I cover up and do wear a little lip gloss.  Since the medicine I take makes me sensitive to the sun, I stay out of it.

6) Mosquito bites can be a major summer annoyance. Are you scratching any itches right now?
I was bitten by something when we were away, camping out.  So far that  just resulted in an annoying itchy spot for a bit.

7) Emergency rooms report an increase in wrist injuries in summer, with people falling off bikes and skateboards and jamming their wrists catching hard-hit softballs. Have you recently been to the ER or Urgent Care?
*Knocking on wood* To answer your question, I've not been there since being told by my doctor to Hie on over to the nearest hospital and get checked in, without delay.... That was maybe three years ago.  I was a LOT sicker than I seemed. lol

8) New York is home to Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest every year on the 4th. Will hot dogs be consumed in your household this weekend?
I'm not sure, but I hope there is to be a potato salad.  I will happily make it myself!

9) Atlanta hosts a 10K Peachtree Road Race every 4th of July. Are you a runner?
Not anymore.  I thought I'd ride my bike for the rest of my life and that didn't happen either.
