This is the clearest, and the most concise, tutorial for these New-to-me needles that I could find.  It's by Nancy Wynn, who does only a tiny bit of  Product pushing for yarn. 

And yes, of course I am going to go look at that web site!  I'm a red blooded American Shopping Specialist, after all!

1) This song is a toast. Have you ever performed an official toast (at a wedding, a graduation, a retirement party, etc.)? 

Nope, I haven't ever. 

2) According to Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, this is a "toast to the ones here today." Tell us about someone in your life that you're especially grateful for. 

There is no one single person but there are several people.  

3) Levine is the song's composer. He said he was compelled to write it, to help him cope with the death of a friend. His lyrics acknowledge that "everybody hurts sometimes." What advice would you share with someone who is struggling? 

Something someone once gave to me: 

"This, too, shall Pass."

4) Adam Levine was one of the original judges on The Voice. Are you a fan of the show?

I've seen a few episodes of it on YouTube, but didn't watch it regularly.  I think it's an excellent showcase for some phenomenal new and talented singers. But I just can't say I'm a fan, someone who is totally into something.

5) Among his friends, Adam is known to be an excellent Scrabble player. Is there a game you're particularly good at (or you especially enjoy)? I'm really good at the card game called Cribbage. I love that game but haven't played it lately.  Maybe it is time to do it!

6) Though he's a multi-Grammy winner, Adam wasn't always successful. In fact, he was fired after just three hours at his first job as a waiter. Have you ever had a job that just wasn't a good fit?  I've had three retail jobs with old school cash registers.  And, my brain and I are not suited to making change.  So retail jobs are not for me.  

I know the tricks but sometimes people wanted change in all coins or something I thought was a bridge too far.. I mean, Geese, just go to a bank like we had to do.  Cash money maketh me sweateth.

7) In 2019, when this song was released, Joaquin Phoenix gave his Oscar-winning performance in Joker. Heath Ledger also won an Oscar for is portrayal of the same character in a different film, and Cesar Romero was The Joker on TV. Today The Batman is doing great business at the box office. Do you have a favorite super hero, or arch villain? Yes, I like The Hulk

There is just something about a Great Big Green Super Hero that gets the Mother Earth in me going.  And, He loves animals, particularly puppies.

8) Also in 2019, two familiar names had books on NY Times best seller list: John Grisham with The Guardians and Janet Evanovich with Twisted Twenty Six. Are either of these authors among your favorites?  I've read several books by both.  Yes, John Grisham is among my favorites. 

9) Random Question: What's something you wish you'd figured out earlier?  A lot of things that shall remain unspoken.  I'm not  trying to be mysterious but all the things that I wish I'd have figured out earlier I just can't talk about.  Email me. lol Nope I am not telling!

Three on Thursday: Scotch Tape and Italian Mama Mias...

I'm taking a small break from the Angst of Life. And from hating a ruinous Despot who should be in a REST HOME!!

Ahem.........

I ripped off an bit of an article on what to do with plain old garden variety of Scotch Tape.  Here are three that I thought were sweet, and funny and practical.  

 They are all from this article from  Life Hacker in case you want to see more tips. 

Here's my Three on Thursday......

Uno: To amaze small children. If you need to impress a small child on short notice, grab a balloon, a piece of tape and a thumb tack. Place the tape in the middle of the balloon, insert the tack through the tape and watch their eyes light up as it (hopefully) doesn’t pop. Have a lollipop in your pocket in case it does.

Due: To create a flawless cat-eye. For makeup lovers who may not be experienced enough to create a “cat eye” freehand, use two small pieces of tape to make a triangular shape just next to the outer corner of your eye. Fill in the empty space between the tape pieces with eyeliner. Don’t forget to remove the tape before you leave the house.

Tre: To prevent label smudging. Prevent the dark print or wet marker on everything from seed and prescription labels to return address and folder labels from smudging by covering with a thin layer of, you guessed it...beans. Just kidding. Tape. Protect them with tape.

Saturday 9: GET ON YOUR FEET (1989)

1) In this song, Gloria Estefan encourages us to stand up and make it happen. What's something you want to accomplish this fine Saturday? 

I want to sew in all the yarn ends to the sf gloves I made for DH.

2) She sings that we've all been through some nasty weather. How has winter 2021/22 treated you thus far (weather wise)?   

Weather wise We have been lucky.  It's been hot but not a lot of fire activity here, and just enough snow to keep the little kids happy.

3) Best known as a recording artist, Gloria is also a best-selling author of children's books. When you were a kid, were you a big reader?

I was always very big on reading.  A Three year old couldn't have a card of their own in the early 40's but you could choose your books.  Reading has probably saved my sanity more than once in the intervening years. 

Grade Schools had libraries, too. And librarians. It was wonderful.

 4) In addition to music and writing, she's a linguist. As a college student, she supported herself as an English/French/Spanish translator at Miami International Airport. When were you most recently at an airport? Were you traveling yourself, or picking someone up/dropping them off?  I was dropping off the twins who had flown in for a visit. That has to have been in the 1980's I think.

5) Gloria made her acting debut in 1999's Music of the Heart, a Meryl Streep movie about music teachers in Harlem. Did you have music classes in school? Have you ever taken private lessons?  I've never had any music lessons from a classroom.  I wanted to learn to play the Tuba in 6th grade but my parents were too poor to pay the rent on one, so too bad, so sad.... Tuba was the only thing left to play in the JR High school band.
 
6) Today Gloria is one of the celebrity residents of Star Island, a man-made island in Biscayne Bay. Star Island is connected to the mainland by MacArthur Causeway, named for General Douglas MacArthur. Tell us about a street in your neighborhood, and who it's named for.  This whole area is called the Lake District, because just about every street is named for a lake.  It's a huge area and goes from Lake Murray (a reservoir) all the way into La Mesa.

7) 1989, the year "Get on Your Feet" was popular, was the year of the first HDTV broadcast. By 1998, high-def shows and TVs were dominant. How many TVs are in your home? Do you watch shows on your computer or phone?  There is only one Television in the house, and I don't watch anything on my computer or the phone.

8) Also in 1989, The Simpsons premiered. It's now the longest-running prime-time TV show ever. Are you a fan?
Sorry, I'm not a fan.

9) Random question: Should husbands wear their wedding rings? They should do what they like. Or, even if they might want to wear a band, if they work around electricity or climb poles for the telephone company, they should not wear them at work.

1) This song is about finding joy in an imperfect world. What brings you joy today?  Frankly, I'd have to dig for it.  Let's see....  I am happy that my new flexflips and a skein of bright and cheerful sock yarn arrived. Also, these little cuties are blooming outside.

2) The lyrics mention being stuck in traffic. A poll of Boston commuters revealed that drivers have a variety of responses to be stuck in traffic — everything from bored to impatient to angry. How do you feel when you’re stuck in a traffic jam?  We live below L.A. and we have to go through it to get ANYWHERE upstate, so we've learned to just go with the flow.

3) This year Bono and his wife, Ali, celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Who is the longest-married couple you know?  Hubby and I are.

4) When Bono inducted Frank Sinatra into the Grammy Hall of Fame, he complimented Frank on his “swagger.” Do you think you have “swagger?”  No, I only have "wobble".

5) When U2 guitarist The Edge did a charity concert at the Sistine Chapel, he became the first rocker to perform there. If you were to travel to Rome, what sites would you be certain to visit?  Grant's Tomb? heehee  Seriously I would like to visit the Coliseum, and the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.  Also ANYWHERE that there is a work by Michelangelo, Rome or not.

6) This week’s song was chosen because St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, and U2 is one of Ireland’s most famous exports. What else is Ireland famous for?  Woolen Tweed comes to mind. And they have some of the best players of Irish fiddle tunes and penny whistle players on the planet.  So, their own musical traditions that have gotten world wide recognition? 

7) Corned beef and cabbage is a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dish. Is it a favorite of yours?  I like the cabbage, just can't stand the corned beef.

8) St. Patrick is credited with driving snakes out of Ireland. Ophiophobia is the fear of snakes. Do you suffer from ophiophobia?  I'm so NOT afraid of snakes that it could have gotten me killed before I found out that a baby rattler is as deadly as his mama.  One dark and starry night at the campfire in Arizona my 13 year old self became enlightened.  I was chasing the little boogers down until I stopped and took a good look at their heads.  Some people we were camped with warned me.. eeeee! It least the dozen or so little snakes just faced off with me and didn't strike.

9) St. Patrick’s Day fantasy: A leprechaun will share his gold with you, but you must request a specific amount for a single item. How much would you ask for, and what would you buy?  I'd ask for 20 million worth (in US dollars) and would buy one big house in Santa Cruz.  It's a Craftsman, and it's gorgeous.  It's the most beautiful house I've ever seen.
