It's International Talk Like a Pirate day*! Thankful Thursday and a new to me blog..

*But ask me if I care.   Now people trying to defend their fishing grounds over the years are called Pirates.   Redbeard would turn over in his watery grave to hear a such a charge.  ITLAPD

Anyway, I'd rather talk about Love, and how it finds you in every corner of your life if you look for it,  or listen.
I am grateful that the Universe tosses, at our feet, these little reminders of the Love all around us.

I'm thankful for books.  They don't have to be fed anything, and they usually don't break.

And, talking like a Pirate, I will say that this be the new book I be reading.  'Tis called Beastly Things, and 'tis scribbled by Donna Leon.

Which brings us to another something that I'm really thankful for.  I'm thankful that people who can write so well are willing to do it, and then let us read it.

I have found a new blog which is a BookMammals Blog.  It's truly a thing of Beauty.  Go have a LOOKSEE?
You won't regret it.  And, Kwizgiver has a new list, too.

I'm Thankful for the Tortoises, and they are thankful for the roses.
They get a lot of calcium from the flowers.

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day, Matie! Harrrrr!

Harrrr! It be Talk like a Pirate Day!

This be the day when we pirates take to the Seas n' blast em wi' our  scurvy personages.  This be all the more fun for the likes of you landlubbers.  Harrrrr!

Pirate Jokes be the rage, so here be one:

"As a child I was made to walk the plank, we couldn't afford a dog."

That there scurvy dog joke comes from HERE

If ye be lookin for more, ye must sail to the edge o' civilization, as it be known, and haul out at THIS wee isle.  But look sharpish for them privateers.  They be the wicked, and ne'er do they look kindly upon a strange ship.

This be Jack Sparrow.  Wanted...... ALIVE!!

Very interesting article about the "REAL" Jack Sparrow

Becoming a Pirate

Since finding out that my knee is going south, I decided to become a pirate, with a peg leg n' all.  The parrot has been located, and a tri-corn hat, but the ship wasn't going well until we remembered there is a perfect one close by in the bay.  It was even for sale, though the seller just appeared out of the fog one morning.   We were both surprised at the price and snapped it up!

DH and I can afford it, happily, but it's going to be tricky getting it. We have been working diligently to get her away from the dock, preferably on a moonless night to minimize publicity.  And for good luck.

It seems to be an ancient merchant vessel of two hundred-eighty feet.  It's in rare good shape for having been in a maritime museum for so many years.   Here is what we've found:

My new sailing ship

I even love the name, but the seller advised that we change it to something else.   He even had a handy can of paint with him to do so.  I declined his offer, as I loved the name.  Star of India.  So romantic!

I'm taking applications for crew members, but if all else fails I sail to Barbados as soon as possible and will take on crew there. I'm hoping for willing sailors.  After that, depending on how it does, I intend to "conscript" the unwilling from the dregs of bars and outlaws.

I was hoping to find crew amongst an all women sailing club in San Diego, but oddly, they were unwilling to join us in this adventure.  They think we'll be in jail before we get out of the harbor.  I think they have no faith in human initiative.

I've have been vigorous in my efforts to teach the dog and the tortoises to swim. The dog is doing all right as long as we keep his hair shaved short, but the torts sink like stones.

Most unfortunate.

It be Talk Like a Pirate day!

Ahoy all ye scurvy dogs, this be the day set aside by the rules, more like guidelines, that lets us slip the chains of care and sail into the wind for treasure and evening up on scores!

Maybe we can make a few encorporated heads and their minions walk the plank in shark infested waters. What say ye to that? Look sharp, because they mean to have our guts for garters, so they do. Lundlubbers all, they need some lessons, those greedy sharks.

Look Sharp! Captain Jack be keeping score!

Orlando Bloom, Ever my favorite pirate....Avaste! You be in trubbbbbbble! Captain Jack Sparrow be EVERYwhere today!

I messed up my theme.

And I can’t get the old one back.  Hope this is readable.  Still working on it.  Tried something from the P.C.and that was a  MISTAKE,
