The final fix

It seems appropriate that this looks like a garden rake. tee hee. Everything is all back in the right place and the dust buster got all the crumbs out.

a bit more...

jane, thanks so much for sharing you knitting. Vicarious knitting will help get me through these weeks. :0) The meds they gave me are amazing. They put words on the ceiling in the sound proofing stuff. Very trippy! Thanks for the good wishes for the surgery. The terrible stuff is all over.. just PT to do now. *sigh* I'm putting up an ex-ray that DH scanned in to share with our DDs, a picture being worth a thousand words about being very careful not to go flying in a rock garden with cactus present. Xeroscape is getting a wee re-think here. ;o) There were about 50 rather large needles stuck in my feet and legs.

joanm, I'm feeling a lot braver today as the surgery was yesterday. Also, i just heard of a friend's friend who broke both wrists in one fell swoop. OUCHIES!

Karen, thanks for you words and that big hug! Also, you've reminded me of the New Year's resolutional readings. Must line up some books from the "biblioteca". Only four weeks until PT, and ten days til a real shower. har har. =o\ eww! boy, is that ever a great reason for cyber hugs!

Val, thanks for the hug and the tip abut crochet.. I will have to try to find that gadget on the web that is for one handed crochet. Saw it in a mag years ago. I bet it's on the web by now. hehe

Thanks Annie :o). Healing thoughts are much appreciated. It will be sometime before we get to monster stomp together unfortunatly. You get yet another chance to leave me in the dust. *grins*

Thanks Liz. It won't be long now before the spinnings get more attention, too. This sort of event makes a person reaaally want to lose no more time!

Trish, thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers, It was something unforgettable, too be sure. Looking at that little joint just after hitting it on the paver in the garden almost made me upchuck. My hope for all of you is that you never do something like that to one of your wing tips. That's just WAY too much sensory overload for crafting gals.

One handed typing really is the pits...was that said already?
It seems to be written on the celing here...

A pretty flower

I was trying to get another picture of this flower because it looked like picasa had squashed the first set of files. That's how I fell, trying to get a bug off the next set of snaps. Flying without a license yet again!!!  Posted by Picasa

Thank you so much

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments, good wishes and prayers. :o)

Surgery went very well. The pain killers working very well, too. All the fingers back "on line" so far so there seems to be no nerve damage. Thumb seems too work well, too. Yippie! It will be about ten weeks before knitting is fully operational. Now if I could just keep the deadened elbow from letting the arm come sock me in the face. They deaden everything from the elbow down so there are no surprises from touched nerves.

I have lots more to say about the hazards of flying low, but one handed typing is ... well you know...pretty much the pits.

a little set back

I can post in here but will not be able to knit for six to eigth weeks. I have taken a fall, broken ny wrist and pulverized the top of my radial bone. Surgery is tomorrow.

I do have an instance of KIP to report. A nice lady was working on a very soft looking pale buttery yarn in the waiting room. She was using some very pretty wooden needles. I didn't get the chance to dash over and get the skinny on the garment because my name was called to get my blood test.

I will keep you posted on as much as I can in the way of developments.

One handed knitting anyone?

My sin must be Pride, as you knoe it is pride that proceedeth a fall. ;0)

Less of toe, more of the Scenic Wonder!

This is a beautiful campground near Ft. Bragg in California. It's very near the coast. If you get to Mendocino County, and want to stay somewhere pretty, try this one. Ft. Bragg itself is a gorgeous little town, and Glass Beach is pretty close, too. Glass beach is where you can gather bits of sand polished glass to use in just about any way you can dream up.MacKerricher State Park

Out the other window.

These pictures are from last year's big trip. I wanted to show Rho and Bv how I spent my time when I was attacked by our shared "Monster", Fibro Flare. That's my toe there. Vioxx in samples that I've been hording cut this bout with gout short. I sure miss that medicine. But isn't this a great view? DH nearly always gets me a great view out those windows. :o)  Posted by Picasa

View out the back window of the Bounder

I was propped up in bed with a three day swollen knee from a fibro flare that set off some gout. This was brought on from all the sitting while riding five hours on a back country road to get to Ft. Bragg. But isn't the foggy view great? I could hear the crash of the surf from here, too.  Posted by Picasa

Trekkers to the heel flap

They don't match but DH says they are pretty socks and he doesn't care. They may end up using part of another skein since the tops are 10 inches tall.  Posted by Picasa

Market Bag Progress

This yarn really wears out my hands fast. So far, I've just been doing five rows a day on the 200 stitches. So you can understand the size of it, those tiles are 12 inch tiles.  Posted by Picasa

Tomorrow is Friday

I'm slowly recovering from some sort of fibro flare, no doubt brought on by recent events.

Stopping the news has helped a lot, but I can't stop what happens so close to home. Meditation has shown me things I've never seen before. It could be the age I'm at but I think it's the company I'm keeping. =o) Thank you for your kindness, and all the good thoughts, prayers and good wishes.

Off to take some pictures of some very ordinary socks and a growing market bag that also helped me keep my sanity. My sister is supposed to come tomorrow. I hope she is feeling well enough to come here for the day. There is a problem going to her house that I can't really get into here. I will post pictures of the trekkers and the bag this afternoon.

On Tuesday the ceramics club had it's annual luncheon, and I went with them. I've not been attending many of the weekly workshops - I'm trying to eliminate my ceramic business and don't need the exposure to new ideas. We went to Home Town Buffet and I ate two desserts and a little bit of other stuff. I was needing the serotonin.

Ah, Gardens. Spring has made the birds crazy for the bits and pieces of the spinnings. They don't last long at all out there on the twigs. DH has been pulling all the weeds that the gold finch were eating, as that little flock had moved on. While they were here, it was very sweet to hear the tiny male singing in the cape honeysuckle to proclaim ownership.

Happy Easter!

Cherry Blossoms from San Francisco's Botanical Garden  Posted by Picasa

I'm really sorry about no pictures BUT!

I haven't even started to get the camera up to speed with a new download of whatever it takes to get pictures up from it. Edit.... I crawled around under the computer and dragged out the connectors. DH did EVERYTHING else for two whole days and I just didn't want to ask him.

As I've said here before, I am very, very close to my kid sister. She has parkinson's disease and is having a very rough time. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about ways I can help her and haven't come up with much besides just loving her the best I know how.

I've been knitting the trekkers, the bag, and just generally worrying myself sick. Love is really the only reason to be alive(well, maybe art and music), and the pain that comes with caring so much for people all over the place is really worth it. It really is. Love is the best thing in the world. I need to figure out how to help people more because right now I'm sort of clueless!

Hard Drive Crashed and I'm just trying to get back up to speed

A lot of angst and excitement about the last back up too, as one disc didn't have a thing on it. That should never have happened, so we've canned that software. I will do my back-ups from now on in a different way. We know why it crashed, too, and MicroSoft claims another victim.

So, I did knit a lot on the trekkerXXL socks. They have to be fairly tall, boot socks you know, so that's why they aren't all the way to the heel flap. Sorry no piccies til I see if the camera software is intact. It's something we've not tested yet. The other WIP is almost out to the 200 stitches. The bag is starting to take form. Following advice from Rissa, I will make it larger because I want a pretty big bag out of this felting project and have lots of that burgandy yarn, a super abundance of it. =0)

Val has sent me a booklet of Rowan patterns, One of the patterns in it is ... drrrummmm roll... Birch! I'm still pinching myself over this, Val, and thank you so much! The darling lambs note you sent with it is going to be french line matted and framed. It is so sweet!

Esperanto is coming along slowly. It's very hard to not know enough about how it sounds. I feel like one of the Englishwomen in my favorite movie, "Enchanted April", when she said she was going to use her "little dictionary" to communicate with the cook/housekeeper in Italian.

Dragged out the handwork quilt, as three of my DDs have now started hand piecing. I can't wait to be able to sit companionable with them and hand sew on a late summer afternnoon, and share a pot of tea and homebaked cookies!

I think this button is cute

And I tried to add it, after saving it to my own files and uploading it to the web but I couldn't make it NOT be a hot button. Wahhhh!

I found it on Laura's site. She's a Knitter's UFO Anonymous Ring buddy.

I...must.... go..... twwwweak!

The Spirit Bear Youth Coalition

I don't have a lot of heroes, in fact I had just one, Rachel Carson, for many, many years. Simon Jackson is another.

Simon Jackson's campaign to save the Spirit Bear has been made into a movie.

His web site is Here

These words are from his Message at the site set up for the SBYC.

"For years, students would approach me and say: Simon, I’m one person, if I don’t bother to write a letter, I won’t make a difference. And to that I would answer - you’re right. If you don’t make your voice heard, you won’t make a difference. No one will know what you think. But if every person, said, ’yes, I can make a difference, I will do my part, I will make my voice heard’. Think if everyone believed that. We were able to get this message through to enough people - so as each person sat down and wrote a letter, a friend or family member would as well, and soon 25, 000 letters from young people alone, were pouring into the Premier’s office in the months leading up to our first land-use agreement in 2001. Soon the message had legs. After all, it was one of those letter's that the Premier finally picked up and said: ’what are we going to do about the spirit bear?’. It was one person who put the issue over the top and it took each of those 24, 999 people to make it happen. It is the power of one, united as one voice."

Little tulip

These little darlings have come up for about 10 years now. They were a free bulb with an order, and were only supposed to last one year. I think they like me. I sure love them. Two are blooming today.  Posted by Picasa

Schwartzia, a variety of a succulent that we can't find anywhere on the Web.

Del, this is the head of the snake like thing by the rose, which is now in the background. I really have to do something about this great plant.  Posted by Picasa

Something fun to read

I know that this is sort of cheating to get you to read an "important document" but I'm just mean enough not to care. I think it's hilarious and worth the time to read and comes from the blogger team under the "Help" button.

HELP PLEASE GOD HELP ME!

If you have lost all your adverbs, there is no help for you here but otherwise this could be considered very helpful as well as hilarious.

PLease be sure to inform me of all my hanging commas, that being my greatest grammatical sin.

Mystery Plant

DH says this is a weed, but the beautiful lavendar morning glory type flower says to me, "Take my picture, too, please?" And so I did. We looked it up, and it could be a chinensis.   Posted by Picasa

Wild Flower or Domestic?

This really does look like a monkey flower, a wild California native, but this color might not be a wild color. I was very happy and surprised to find it in the disturbed ground where the trees used to be. Maybe I will try a wild flower "meadow" for a little area of that "new ground" At any rate, I'm going to put a cage around it because the tortoises will eat it.  Posted by Picasa

Trying again. Blogger's quirky sense of humor must have a timer, too.

Three pictures an hour, and no more! This is the 1980's afghan. It's wide and short, not as envisioned but it's done. The pattern runs East and West rather than North and South but it still looks very nice. I am thinking of putting a fringe or knitted Wave pattern edging (from the Second Collection of Knitting Patterns book) but since it wasn't planned that way, I'm declaring the thing finished, at last! This is an "Out of my Hair" award given to MEMEME!  Posted by Picasa

Orange! I hope that the Project Sprectrum members will forgive me for celebrating color with them.

Yellow! One of my favorite eppies. Pookie when it blooms this summer, I will make you a cutting of it, and the Bronze that follows.

Sunflare, a bit faded

Sunflare looks it's best when it just opens and this one is a little more blown than it should be. It's usually a beautiful deep buttery yellow  Posted by Picasa

Yellow and Orange month?

Project spectrum is a themed topic that is running through the blogs of other, so I'll add a little yellow here, too. Maybe some orange if I can find it. Epiphyllums, along with orchids and roses, used to be my special flower darlings, and maybe there are a few pictures of them somewhere.

Look what DH found while sorting my papers.

Isn't this pretty? It comes from the time that I worked in a yarn shop and I really want to make this again. This sort of top is my prefered top. I mean besides the t-shirt and some sweats, depending on the weather. This is from the 80's.   Posted by Picasa

I messed up my theme.

And I can’t get the old one back.  Hope this is readable.  Still working on it.  Tried something from the P.C.and that was a  MISTAKE,
