The Weeds Lose Some Ground

This morning, after waking up half dead as usual, I thought I felt pretty darn good so, I went out and pulled some more weeds. They are the worst looking things and nearly as tall as I am. But it rained a day or so and it makes it easier to get them out. I found a tortoise egg! She has buried a nest somewhere, I'm sure. Now I need to find it and protect it before any critters get into it.

I will take Poko Ono's picture and put it on the blog. She is a tortoise I rescued while working for Project Wildlife and has given us babies. Well, she and her mate have done so; he is a tortoise named Churchy that I've had for about 50 years. He was found in the road out in the desert and had been hit by a car. He was very tiny and now is very tame. So is Poko, and she likes to eat garden snails. He loves watermelon.

I've finished the blue socks and will show them off together here soon, and will bring all the other project pictures on line plus show you the beginnings of the Lettuce colored aran sweater started late at night on Tuesday.

My sister is coming over today and we will have tea and chocolate and a nice chatfest! I'm resting my back because it got twisted a little. Heating pad time!

WELL.... a little update here. Sis was too sick to come out today. She is going to take a nap and rest at home for the afternoon. She still works full time four days a week, and with Parkinson's symptoms seemingly unstoppable, meds and all, is getting more and more upset about fate. We all are getting more concerned now because of this setback.

This adorable little friend reminds me of my knitting buddy, Jazzie. Since Jaz lays in my lap while I knit in bed, this struck me as a perfect tribute to him and what he might be learning vicariously. This is Grommit from the Wallace and Grommit movies. I saved bandwidth by making it a jpg file and saving it. I hope the producers, whose movies I adore, will not be unhappy with me.

Well, the Pink Ribbon socks may get done next year

I have yarn coming for an aran Isle sweater for my Hubby. It's a silk,alpaca and wool blend that he picked out the pattern for and the color. I am so happy to be able to make him a really nice sweater he will enjoy wearing. And still be able to knit socks! They are the lovely little projects that fill in the spaces between love and hate that happen with a big project like a sweater or an afghan. hehe

As for now, I'm off to fall asleep knitting the blueish greenish sockmate and hopefully not poking my eye out.

Fear of Pink Sock Pattern

"But surely", she said, "this too shall pass!"

Why would a grown woman, who has knit complicated patterns-albeit not charted- since she was teenager, suffer such malicious fear toward such an innocent and small (nearly microscopic!) charted pattern? I even like the color of the sock. I blame Elonis who is to blame for all things!

Ok tomorrow is another day and another attempt will be made to force the fingers to lift up the yarn and needles, and the brain to process, inch by inch, the fairly simple though novel pattern. This is not an Aran Isle sweater for Heaven's sake! that reminds me! I have to order that blasted yarn for the sweater before it's, gasp, all gone again!

No I'm not telling what it is or who has it til it is safely ordered. :p

I haven't knit much at all this month...

But the matching yarn for the new hat came. Now I have to make the pattern for it in farrow rib to match the scarve that DD made for her Dad. I will try to get some pictures up of other projects resurrected from the past. Somehow I've lost touch with my camera; it wants to blur things, or make them funny colors. I don't want to have to get a new one because we've got a major remodel of a bathroom coming up. The 50 year old tubby decided to give out and leak. Cast Iron is NOT forever though it may seem so. I'm thinking my DH is getting overwhelmed by life and can't figure out where to start on anything so nothing is getting done. Who knows what will happen when the tub gets removed.. Will the ceramic tile stay on the wall? What is behind the wall? Is what is behind the wall totally black with mold? These and other questions are keeping me up at night.

Vi, thanks for that link but that color is goooooon with the wind. Not available. finitoooo.. I would have loved to have more, too. Got it from the bottom of a pile at the LYS nearly a year and a half ago.

Is Easter really over? I'm out of Cadbury Eggs so it must be over.
