Music Monday. Singing bowls and "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas".. Burl Ives.
It's Christmas time.. Yay!
Sitting at the computer, composing this, I'm reading the magnet: "Today I am in charge of how I feel and I am choosing..... Happiness."
Mr. Z. stuck that magnet on the side of my computer a few months ago when the going was really, REAAALLY rough. This has been a terrible year, emotionally. Firstly, I joined the legions of mothers who have outlived a child, and my children have lost their eldest sister. I am sending you parents and surviving sibs all a HUGE virtual hug......

And then a maniac, with no apparent people skills and WAY TOO much money - see sidebar - was elected to the highest position in the Government. Actually he is ONLY the "executive" but we lost sight of exactly what that somewhat impotent job entailed, and the controls set upon that potentially troubling presidency, a LONNGGGGG time ago.
Right now, I feel like a ragdoll who has been pulled through a wormhole and who is hoping that at some point she doesn't just lose it all and self destruct. I guess that's one of the stages of grief. If it isn't it should be. Number 6. Sucked through the wormhole.
The singing bowl came and it's a piece of patak. It's not well made and this is the second time that FATE has stiffed me re: Singing Bowls. The first time was at Tucson Mineral and Fossil Show. If anything is made, it will be there. I walked into a big tent, and beheld the display of what can only be described as a huge hoard of brass singing bowls. I picked up one to admire it, and suddenly beside me was a woman and man who had come from New York, no less, to buy every one that the seller had to sell. She announced rather loudly that she was buying all of these items to the seller, who whipped out his invoice pad and boom! Done deal. I thought, well, I wasn't supposed to have that.
Fast forward a decade. I saw the bowls on Amazon, well, several kinds actually but I wanted the total chakra balancing one. I'm so DAMN screwed up I figured that this bowl was going to be what it took!
The bowl arrived. It has what can only be described as a high pitched whine as it's top ( dominate) note, and it was a mess. The rim, where you run the little batten around it to make it sing, had three areas of bad casting marks that the makers had tried to smooth away. But two of them looked like DENTS and the one on the opposite side looked like an instance of incomplete casting. I am a silversmith by trade, and this was appalling to me. I wouldn't have sent this out this way!
So, it seemed that FATE was sending yet another message that this was NOT my PATH!
Mr. Z, however is undaunted. We are going to go see some other bowls sold locally that you can actually lay hands and eyes on before forking over the "Readies". Well, I'll post this and LEAVE it to FATE about whether or not I can actually have a singing bowl or not. But I'm telling you, with TWO strikes against me, maybe KARMA is telling me something?

How many Thanksgivings do you attend?
One a year.
Where do you attend Thanksgiving(s)?
It's a family affair, and it's a potluck thinga. At one time or another we've all hosted Thanksgiving Feasts over the years.
What is your favorite dish?
I'm partial to my Noritake ones. White pattern, on white, with a silver edge. Oh i see. That would be the Gravy and potatoes.
What is your least favorite dish at Thanksgiving?
What, if any, are your Thanksgiving traditions?
Having a feast. I'm always glad when it's time for pie, too. It's a contest over the height of the whipped cream someone can pile on top. I think one of my grand nieces does a very artistic "Loading of the Cream."
Name your FAV thing about Thanksgiving.
Having a family and eating together.
Do you make anything for Thanksgiving? If yes, share what and why.
Nowadays, I'm asked to bring a dish, and our specific dish is candied yams. The reason is that yams are sort of traditional.
Out of everything you eat at Thanksgiving, what can YOU cook the best?
I cooked Thanksgiving feasts for 30 years and I can make everything that goes into it. I just don't have the stamina anymore. lol
What do you drink with your Thanksgiving feast?
With the meal, there is wine or beer or water. Then there is coffee with the pie.
Has there ever been a feud during your Thanksgiving?
I can't remember one. I just ran the reel backwards in time and nothing flew up at my nose.
Do you have Appetizers before you Thanksgiving meal?
Someone is always asked to bring appetizers, and they are really good at choosing them.
How many people attend your Thanksgiving(s)? If yes, who?
There were about 15 people at this last one. The attendees were a mix of extended families. And we got to meet my grand niece's boyfriend who was there, too. It was a fun mix of family connected peeps.
Have you ever missed a Thanksgiving?
No, because even when we were out in the desert at Goldrock Ranch with the rockhounds we cooked and served a full Thanksgiving menu. I miss those so much. These were very laid back and very fun.
What kind of pie/cake/dessert do you eat for dessert?
At Thanksgiving this year? There were two very big Costco pies - Apple and Pumpkin. I had some Pumpkin and tiny smidgen of apples from a piece of Mr. Z. Apple.
Do you ever play games at Thanksgiving?
We do but this year, no. It's called LRC and it's loads of fun.
Name 3 things you are Thankful for:
Family, Friends, the Hope of Heaven.
Is there anyone who has normally attended Thanksgiving, that will not be there this year? Who?
Name the funniest person at your Thanksgiving this year and tell us more.
There is no funniest. Everyone likes to gently tease and it's fun to listen in and sometimes participate. They keep me laughing and smiling, mostly.
Which person eats the MOST?
It had to be one of the teens. I was so engrossed in my own food that I didn't look around much.
Which person eats the LEAST?
Mr. Z"s Mom. She is fragile, tiny and almost 100 years old. I hope she can get to blow out a hundred candles in a few years.
Do any animals attend Thanksgiving dinner?
There are two or more small dogs in attendance. We once had two other tiny dogs zipping around, and I miss them. Now there are only two quite small dogs. By "Quite" small I mean they are the size a person can still easily scoop them up and carry them if need be.
If so, do they get Thanksgiving scraps?
Neither of the quite small dogs. I'd been told never to give my dogs turkey, but since turkey is used in some pretty high end dog foods, I was informed, that couldn't be right. I haven't been able to follow up on it, Yet. My brother is in town only until tomorrow, and we went to visit him and my sister for a good part of the afternoon. I really wanted to see him again. I miss my Bro.
Who carves the turkey?
My Nephew did the carving this time. Men really love to carve up a bird.
Have you ever had to make Thanksgiving all on YOUR OWN?
I did Thanksgiving all on my own, and Christmas feasts, for decades. I am SOOOO glad to not have to do that anymore!
Do you get along with the people you have thanksgiving with?
I do. And, I've observed that it's best to never challenge even the most outrageous stuff out of the mouths of a few spoilsports who just can't leave it home. Of late, there has not a lot said, and if someone sends up a zeppelin, it's generally a subject changer.
Is your Thanksgiving formal, or do you just do whatever?
The rockhounds ones were VERY informal and relaxed. We had the best time and were all good friends. The family ones are also very relaxed and informal. It's a fun day.

Saturday9: Baby's in Black, and goodbye Black Friday. *sobs*

Saturday 9: Baby's in Black (1964)

1) Black is this week's signature color because Friday, November 25, was "Black Friday," when retailers cut their prices and consumers flock to the stores. Did you score any "Black Friday" bargains?
I bought a handmade singing bowl from Tibet, or rather, from Nepal, for half price! I am Chuffed! Of course we are not going to get that fuzzy little white rescue dog I want. *Sobs out her heart*
2) Feasting and football are also popular Thanksgiving weekend pastimes. Do your Thursday-Sunday plans include pigging out or watching a game?
Nope! But we will be eating some delicious jello dessert that was left-over from yesterday.
3) At Thanksgiving dinners, Crazy Sam's homemade gravy is always a hit. (Probably because she's so generous with the cognac, which gives the gravy a nutty taste.) What was particularly delicious at your Thanksgiving table?
I loved everything. But, I'll tell you... the delicious green beans with big mushroom slices and usually forbidden bacon (salt) were especially inviting. BIG YUM!
4) Among the biggest the Black Friday advertisers are Target, Kohl's, Macy's and Best Buy. If you could have a $100 gift card to any one of those stores, which would you choose? $100? Macy's. I like everything I've seen from there.
5) This week's song, "Baby's in Black," is about a girl who wears black because she's in mourning. Do you find that the color you're wearing reflects your mood?
No. I actually like black clothing a lot. The only thing depressing yesterday was the long litany about someone that was dying of cancer and this from a clueless relative who just has little common sense. Can you tell I'm still recovering? This is a bad time to stand anywhere near a grieving Mom and go on and on about things like that.
6) The woman who inspired this song, Astrid Kirchherr, has been friends with Paul McCartney since he and his bandmates (John Lennon, George Harrison, Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best) met her in Hamburg back in 1960. Tell us what you believe are the components of a strong, lasting friendship. I think friendships endure because of common interests, affection, and fun things that you do together, even if just remotely. My sisface and I will sometimes start texting stories and it goes back and forth until we run out of ideas or energy. Very fun! Also, it's partly what you go through together that strengthens the bonds. I have a friend who calls me Sisface that I thoroughly adore. She and I have had so much fun. And my BFF., Meffie? We go way, way back. That's a whole lot of love there.
7) In the early days of the Beatles, Paul McCartney and John Lennon began writing a play but abandoned it. Do you have a novel, painting, play, song or poem that you're going to finish "someday?" I have several finished poems, songs, and paintings. I've never aspired to write a novel, and really don't think I've got that talent. But I can write songs and poetry like some sort of muse lives in my head and heart. I think it comes from loving music so much. Maybe it's a Native American talent? Someone sings to me in dreams. I've never seen who, but they do.
8) When he was 16, George Harrison dreamed of moving to Canada, Australia or Malta. In just a few years, he would visit all those places with Beatles and eventually decided there was no place like home and stayed in England. Have you ever thought about moving to another country? If so, where? We've thought of moving to (or we discuss being born again into) Iceland, Norway, South of France, or even British Columbia, Canada. I'd like to be in any of these places but also nearer the coast. But with global climate change, not reaaaally close to it.
9) Random question: Finish this sentence -- If you want me to give you "yes" for an answer, the best time to approach me is after you've explained to me just what you have in mind. Since time and experience are teachers, I'm too smart to repeat any mistakes that really cost me in mobility or in personal relationships. That would be that I would never get on a horse that should never be ridden by anyone but the owner. What's that saying, "Too soon Old, too late smart."
What are you too fearful to do?
I do not willingly fly. Short flights are ok if I'm not sick.
What are you too lazy to do?
I'm too lazy to really sort out the yarns I own, or the fabrics.
What are you too young to do?
Well, my dears, I am not too young to do anything. I am, however, too old to do loads of things.

Thursday Thirteen: Wish I may, wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight....
Thirteen Wishes:
1. I would like to heal with a look, "Just one look, that's all it took"....and wish that others could, too. Let's face it, then we could be rid of the Insurance companies that have literally let people die. And Prayers evidently just don't always work! I don't want anyone between me and my doctor, anymore. I'll bite them if they try. Hmmm Maybe it's time to buy a lion? 🦁
2. I want to knock out the garage wall, enlarge the bedroom and build this... but only with a Kingsized bed. Then Wolfie won't knock out all his front teeth, or break his neck, jumping off the bed. The racket he makes if he can't sleep with the big dogs would wake the dead. He starts Howling and keening like when the 🐺pack meets back up in the wilderness. He can't jump UP ⇑ but does try to jump down.⇩ Mon Dieu! ☹
3. I wish that we really did have teleporters. I think they would be a ton of fun and help a lot with Carbon Footprints and Galloping Climate change. That is unless they had to work on Diesel fuel or it's baby sister, Gasoline. AND, the best part of all,: It would be so good to see a look of angst on the faces of all the Oil Barons.
4. I wish that the Orange Menace, and is ilk, would get knocked off their high horses horse by a huge white light from the Heavens, blinded for three day, and would be, you know, come out as philanthropists. This state could be like a Transmogrification of Attitude. I wish this, unless of course, there is a "tossing out" of the Aged and Arcane Electoral College vote and the popularly elected Person of Interest were to take office. Why is it called a College? No one ever seems to learn a blessed thing from it!
5. I wish for better and more food to be be distributed to the poor, so that no one went to bed without getting something to eat that day. It's totally shocking to me that parents have to decide whether to feed the kids or pay utilities. Eat OR pay ConEd?
6. I wish we could have a little, perhaps white, rescue poodle-ish doggie for a playmate for Wolfie. That would be the best birthday present ever, even better than a Tibetan singing bowl. Well, I'm not getting a dog so I guess it's a singing bowl. I can hear it now, telling me to be in the moment and get to bed.
7. I wish for the Time to stop hopping back and forth half the year. The dog's confused and tries to get everyone one up at 4 am instead of 5 am in order to get his breakfast.
8. I wish I could actually succeed in throwing something out besides old tax returns and pieces of cloth that are postage stamp sized. No, do NOT tell me that you have seen postage stamp sized pieces made into quilts. I have too, but it's just not going to happen in this house, anymore.
9. Wish to read again, let alone knit. I'm teasing myself with little hat patterns.
10. I'm also wishing for the end to all wars, because we have teleporters and don't need to sip up all the lubricant for the smooth movement of the Tectonic Plates. Two Big birds, one small stone.
11. Wish that I could have the eye I for Accidental Art that I used to. It's been a few years. When they took my gallbladder out, I think they disconnect a wire that led from my Eye to my heart.
12. I wish for a good political future for the children of this Country.
13. I wished for the bread and circuses to stop, but now I wish for the hatred engendered by a con man who may think he's St. Michael come to kill Satan, as if.... I wish for that hatred to fade and for us to roll upare our sleeves and fix this. I think we owe this to the Children of America.
I should get to bed!

The song itself was based on Chapin's wife's Poem -Sandy Chapin, a poem she wrote about the troubled relationship that her ex-husband had with his father.
Enjoy it...I think it's a beautiful song. Most of all, make time for your family... it's important. Life is just very fragile.

1. Would you prefer to be smart or happy, and why?
I don't want to choose between these two. I'd rather be happy than sad, and I'd rather be smart than not. Ignorance, though, is bliss, but only until THEY come for YOU because they don't like you for some dumb reason or another.
2. If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?
I've answered this before and I still choose invisibility. Why? I can get anywhere at all. Anywhere.
3. What is your biggest regret in life so far?
I regret that I never went back soon enough to finish Uni. I would have been all schooled up when the twins came, because they were going to be here - I think it was in my true destiny. (fate sounded, well, fatalistic, which this event was not) Anyway... in this way I would have been a decent level wage earner. I wanted this so much, and because then we would have had enough money for ALL the girls to go to University.
4. If you could marry a fictional character, who would it be and why?
It wouldn't be anyone. They are fictional, not real at all. And that's why I'm not interested in marrying one of them.
5. If money and career were no object, where in the world would you choose to live?
I'm sure I'd like to live in Norway. Mr. Z and I talk about this alot.
6. What’s the last book you read that you simply could not put down until you finished?
I'd have to say that it's been so long I've forgotten what it was but it was about a redwood tree and a very tenacious boy with Autism. It was totally a page burner for me.
Here.. It was The Eagle Tree. I would read anything this author writes. He's great!
7. What television show do you plan your day around in order to see it live?
None. I absolutely will not watch commercial TV. And I can't stand pledge nights though I do understand the need for them.
8. What extracurricular activities or sports did you participate in when you were in high school?
Choir, and I was in GAA all four years. So, we went to all intramural sports competitions in Tennis, Archery, Field Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, softball, and if there's something else, I don't remember.
9. Of all your pet-peeves, which is the strangest?
Well, I really don't have a lot of pet peeves. I think I cause pet peeves. I'm pretty eccentric.
10. Is it better to beg forgiveness or ask permission?
Gee, that certainly depends on what you are up to. If I were going to go paint a huge crack in a dam someday, I'd say I don't beg. I would just pay the fine and be done with it. Love that sort of thing to do. Just too old and stodgy now. (read "crippled and fat") Asking permission for the sort of things I wish I could do is unacceptable. I tend to be a scofflaw.
11. If you inherited or won a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would divvy it up and help the kids to buy houses.
12. What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
That would be telling.
13. Which fictional character do you believe is the most like yourself?
I used to think it was Dinozzo, but now I've watched him in action far too long. I do not like the way he treats McGee. Shameful pr--k.
14. Are you superstitious? If so, what are you most superstitious about?
No, sorry, unless it's superstitious to believe in ghosts and superior beings who can thonk you on the ear from time to time.
15. Do you believe it is vital to everyday life to know what is happening in the world around you?
Immediately around you? Yes. But sometimes it's just better to ignore all the horrific gore that sells newspapers and keeps people glued to the Six O'clock News. I'm not that worried about Trump, because soon he will meet his match, both overtly and covertly, in the Washington "I really do run the world" crowd.
16. What is the nicest thing anybody has said, or you believe they would say, about you?
Well, that's a poser and a half. I have no idea. Or it's far too heartrendingly sad and/or private a matter to discuss.
17. What are your life and career goals in 5, 10 and 15 years?
Well, my dears, I hope that there are no more catastrophic events planned for our family but we are agéd, Father Christmas, and I just don't see any reason to expound on a life that includes more than the week or, at best, the next month.
18. Would you rather live in a large house in the suburbs, or a tiny apartment in the city with an excellent view?
I'll take the excellent one story craftsman house in the suburbs of Santa Cruz that is the one I will haunt if you get to do those sorts of things. *winks* It also has an excellent view of the marina.
19. What are you three weaknesses?
Decrepitude, Chocolate, and wishful thinking. Yep. those are IT! lol
20. How would you describe yourself in three words?
Thinker, Do-Gooder, Craftswoman
21. Which is more logical to follow—your heart or your head?
Logic always follows the head. Art teaches you to follow your heart. But logic teaches you to be a thinker who examines things in a minute way. Think of Da Vinci. There was a thinker who was also an artist.
22. Are you spiritual or religious in any way? If so, how?
I'm very spiritual minded. I believe Jesus was real, and that his message of LOVE and the commandment there of were the most important messages anyone can take from Christianity. I am no long OF a particular religion, and haven't been since I slowly morphed into a Quaker/Taoist when I was in my twenties.
23. If you could have any career possible, what would it be?
Art Teacher. There is a lot of need for committed, skilled art teachers; the school board just doesn't know it.
24. Have you ever been arrested or contracted any diseases?
No. Gee. What is this, an "America's Most Wanted" questionnaire? Well, I just read impybat's blog and liked her answer that everyone has contracted something or other even if just a cold or the flu.
25. Which is better—a novel or a movie?
Both are art forms but what I think you are asking is whether the book is better than the movie made from it.
Sometimes short stories are expanded into movies and some of them are good. Most books far superior to the movie, which has an entirely different audience and is beholden to more immediate $$$. It's sad.
And, I know I've seen a movie better than the book but, for the life of me, I can't remember what it was.

No. Not that now they -the prophets of doom - all aren't saying, "I told you so!" or something like that. Or this: "Things were bad enough, and look, they just got a whole LOT worse!"
None other than Mr. Universe himself - Stephen Hawking - said the human race has only about a thousand years left. That's a sad run up for the newest kid on the block, you know? Say, I'm pretty good at this "prophet of doom" thing.
3) In 1972, when this recording was popular, so was The Brady Bunch. In the two-part season premiere, The Bradys went to Hawaii. Do you have any warm weather vacation plans this fall/winter?
I live where people come to escape the frigid cold. Their cold weather is so cold that it makes me feel a bit silly when I think it's freezing at 60°. But, darn it, it IS chilly for we little SoCalian Lizards!
There was a line in a show last night, that had me LMAO. A detective, probably DiNozzo, asked another detective, maybe a local Leo, wasn't he just a little too warm - or something to that order - dressed like that? The other detective was dressed in a hunter's hat and a sheepskin/suede jacket, He answered to the effect that, "Hey, I come from Phoenix, Arizona. We think 93° is cold!"
4) Though not her uncle, just a friend to both of her parents, Liza always called Frank Sinatra as "Uncle Frank." Is there an older person in your life who isn't a blood relative, but who refer to as "aunt" or "uncle?"
When we, my sibs and I, were kids (well actually even now) when we say Aunt Jeanne, we all know who that person is. She was the friend who was as close as a sister to my mother. She was a very special lady to us all.
5) Liza collapsed onstage during a Christmas concert in 2007. She says she'd been nauseous before she went on and simply fainted. Sam has never fainted. Have you?
Yes, once. Big surprise to me, and to my mother. She heard the crash, as I fell against the stove and a room divider. She said, " What the dickens! "L", would you just quit faking it!"
6) People are often surprised when they learn Liza is good friends with Gene Simmons -- the KISS member with the long tongue. Tell us about one of your good friends.
Ok Ill tell you about my wonderful, neighborly friend. I called him my big brother. He was the best big brother to me. I still miss him. He's the one who once told me, when I was totally exhausted, "The first hundred years are the hardest." He was full of jokes and laughter and a very kind man. I'll always miss him.
7) Liza told US Magazine that she loves to eat at Olive Garden. Do you?
No. I really don't. I don't like chains when it comes to Italian foods. or any ethnic foods. I like the little restaurants that people start up to preserve their mother's or grandmother's (or grandfather's?) recipes, and then their kids keep it all going. They are the best, imho.
8) She keeps apple juice and yogurt in her refrigerator at all times. Would we find either in your refrigerator right now?
*dashes off to have a look see*
Yogurt, yes, you would find that but apparently not apple juice right now. We do have pure cranberry, which we mix with apple juice, and there is a green blend that is also very tasty. Yum. See? Now you've made me hungry, or is that thirsty?
9) Random question: Which would be a more frustrating dinner companion -- someone who won't shut up, or someone who won't say a word?
Gee, that's a hard one. I don't know any people that garrulous or that silent so I can't really say. I guess I'm good at tuning people out, so if they are silent, that wouldn't bother me either. Maybe the talkers would be really just trying to fill the spaces I left in the air? Sometimes that taciturnity is the signal to talk, well, into the silence. See? I just can't decide.

Hello! And welcome to this week’s Friday 5.
1. What was the last thing you put in the freezer not to freeze, but just to chill?
Probably a beverage glass.
2. What’s a non-food item you’re storing in a zippered, plastic bag?
I'm a crafter. In this house there are more craft and sewing things stored in plastic bags than there are food items.
3. What’s the most unusual item you’ve used as a bookmark?
It was a very small, and dry, heart shaped eucalyptus leaf. There's a picture of it on the blog but I can't find it at the moment.
4. What’s something unusual for which you’ve used a kitchen utensil?
I've used wooden spoons for dying yarn. Does that count? I use kitchen utensils a lot for crafting, and since I use non toxic things they can be returned to the kitchen (if they are missed.) *giggles*
5. How many different kinds of balls do you have in your house?
There are several, all sort. I collect oddments from here and there so there's a hardball, a golf ball, a medicine ball, Giant sit on me type of ball, and a few little superballs found along the pathways of life. I mean except for the Giant ball, which we bought for me to sit on and sew at a machine.

The U.S. Navy certainly seemed to agree that every part of Government should do it's part, but because The USN got their necks jumped on when it was first introduced, they have not expanded their biofuels experiment beyond the Green Fleet as of January of this year.

Monday Whatever.. Politics makes me crazy, and a trip to the Smithsonian
Firstly,
I rearranged my blog and now will link all the meme's within the text for each entry for that meme. I tried to organize the rest of the side bar into cohesive groups, and hope it was logical and successful. Thank you all for reading for these past 12 years.
I will do this as long as I'm able but I'm slowing down.
I don't like to do political stuff anymore. So, what I've done so far will be the extent of it. The reason it's mentioned at all is that it is an egregious and long standing wrong that has been being done to the Guaranteed Human Rights of the American people, and to keep silent, for me, is to be virtually complicit to the theft of those rights.
I abhor the abridgement of Human Rights anywhere in the world so right here in my Homeland, I'll hunt it down, the nasty little Bagginsis, neuter it, and shave off all the fur on it's big little feet!
And now, let us return to the regularly scheduled broadcast of "Puppies and Kittens".
I've got an enduro, or two to get through over the Hols and I'm wishing my ears were on swivels so that I could put them back and flat to my head like a Cougar ready to strike. Why do the other animals get the only truly nifty responses that tell the Pride or Pack to back off? It's so not fair!
Let's take a little trip to the Smithsonian and check out what they have to say, or emote, about it all....

In General? Just by standing with them in anything life threatening, or shortening, and holding their hand in times of trouble. That is the greatest expression of Love there is. Romantic love is dying for someone. And you thought I was going to say it was Ess Eee X.

I'm not committing it to the internet. I don't want to go to prison. I'm too old for that crap, and I don't look good in Orange.

Yes, I have. I decided to have that baby. That baby turned out to be twins who, along with their sisters, have lit up my life with the whole gamut of human experiences and emotions. I love them so much.

I can, but I'd rather not.

I've been so emotional that I couldn't even talk.
35 - Did you ever badmouth someone?
Such a question. It's human to have, at least ONCE in our lives, bad mouthed someone. Believe me, they had it coming.

I used to live in jeans. Not anymore. Long skirts yes.

Since I no longer trust the Universe, yes, I do.
38 - What's something that you made all on your own and are incredibly proud of?
My art work and silversmithing. I'm not what you call incredibly proud of it, it's just such a good feeling to think back about it and know that, yes, I really did make all that stuff.

The wonderful guy that danced into my life one night, out of the blue, and saved me.
40 - Who was the last person you hugged?
Him. We'd been moving boxes and I was a little bent over to the side, and he hugged me straight on back up. Sweet!

No, I believe in things that are good luck, things that are bad luck, and things that happen when you are busy making plans. Those are the sure bets in Life.

Not anymore but once upon a time, yes.

I believe in good luck, bad luck and things that happen when you are busy making plans.

Yes. At this time, I feel like a part of someone else's soul.

My Name IS someone's nickname, so there isn't any further to go with it. I guess you could call me Zipporahlina.. I sort of feel a Dean Martin song coming on......
46 - Could you ever be a vegan?
Yes, I only eat a little meat because I need to at this time in life, if I want to live longer. The jury is still out on the Iffy part of that.
47 - Do you currently have bruises on your body?
On the internet we are supposed to talk about the bruises on our bodies? I know, I'm the woman who put the stitches on the wrist and knee up here. Don't ask about my bruises. The dog charges in from his walks and hits me full force on my right leg when he leaps up into my chair with me in it. I've quit looking at them or even counting them.
48 - What should you be doing right now?
I should be reading a library book, but the library loan ended and they snatched it back faster than a far...well pretty fast! I'm planning on reading a kid's book I found today that was published in 1914. I'll see if I can read that one.
49 - I read in a magazine that shoulder pads are coming back. Are you happy to hear this or do you not find them to be very attractive?
Because I was a swimmer almost my entire life, I have broad shoulders. But I do like the look just can't wear it without looking like I played football all my life.
Think of this: Without "Big Hair" women are going to look like pin heads again, though. Better be prepared for the Big Hair, too, eh? I'm practicing, "eh", and my Canadian aphorisms and cadences lately. I wonder why?
50 - Did you ever feel like you’re not good enough?
I've always known I'm not good enough but it's never stopped me. Is this a Psychological Profiling thingie because if it is I want to take the Rorschach blot test that goes with that.

When the shock wears off that an arrogant bigot with such a far reaching anti human rights agenda has won an election but not the popular vote, the move to change this into a real democracy will get rolling. I intend to do everything in my power to see this happen, for the sake of the children of the country who deserve to live better and safer lives. If we say or do nothing they will be the ones who pay. Think what happened in Cambodia.

1) This is about the fateful cruise of the S.S. Minnow. If you had a boat, what would christen it?
Probably a plastic glass full of Champagne daringly aimed at the bow. I'd tie a string to it so that I could retrieve the glass so it wouldn't end up in the Mid Pacific Gyre , aka the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. But if you meant what I'd name, it would be "Pleiades", or "Seven Sisters". This was a secret name I had for the gathering of all the seven girl cousins at birthdays and such. Seven little Sisters. However, things hardly ever work out for the poetically inclined.
2) "No phone! No lights! No motorcar! Not a single luxury!" To Sam, those sound more like everyday essentials than luxuries. If you were shipwrecked with the gang, what standard amenity would you miss the most?
I'd likely miss yarn and needles, aka, my knitting. Hopefully there would be something, ANYTHING, I could find to unravel and remake into hats or sandals. Sticks would be everywhere....
3) The uncharted isle was in the Pacific, near Hawaii. Have you ever been to our 50th state?
No, sadly, I have not ever been there. I'd have loved to live there when we were young.

4) Natalie Schafer, who played Mrs. Howell, refused to divulge her age. Are you honest about how old you are? Or do you fudge it?
I used to fudge it upwards when I was 19. Now, I just don't. It's just never occurred to me to keep on fudging it is all, since I'd missed being able to vote - by four years - in the first election of JFK, a person that I truly admired. It's impossible to lie to the Board of Elections. Perhaps they can be scammed but not a face to face lie. Four years later, I would have missed JFK's second election by one month, but of course, the point of it all was by then moot.
5) Gilligan's Island featured many dream sequences. (Like the one where Gilligan dozes off and dreams that he's Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.) Have you had any vivid dreams lately?
Yes, a few. I see them as instructive. In one a light haired, smiling, odd looking older man was pouring out a cup, over and over. He had missing teeth and looked like an ancient, semi-blond Guru of sorts-naked to the waist. I know exactly what this dream means, having heard the story of the "Too Full Cup" from my trainer a few years ago. So, now, I'm pouring out my cup to make room for someone to pour something new into it. New knowledge from Sage like teachers. The Link goes to Bengt Wendel's blog. I used his because it's not monetized.
6) The pilot was filmed in November, 1963, in Honolulu. The cast and crew were actually onset when they learned of President Kennedy's assassination.* Because on location filming was so expensive, they couldn't afford to take any time off. Tell us about a time when you had to work, even though your heart and head weren't in it.
I guess that time is now.
7) During the show's run, Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) was the clear fan favorite, receiving twice as many love letters as Ginger (Tina Louise). Have you ever written a fan letter (or posted a fan tweet or Facebook post)?
Well, my social media are nearly null, so not the latter two. And I can't remember ever writing a fan letter, either. I had my head buried in my books most of the time. I have written to presidents from time to time. Sometimes they were fan-ish letters but mostly not. ;o)
8) Sam chose this week's song because it was going through her head, over and over again! Tell us a song that burrows into your head and stays there.
Last night it was the Scarecrow's Song from Wizard of Oz.
I just feel so completely brainless right now.
9) Random question: You went to a discount store and got an amazing bargain -- a pair of dress shoes for just $4.99. You go to a formal event and someone compliments you on those great shoes and asks where you got them. Do you tell the truth?
At a formal event, I would just say, "I can't remember where I got these. Maybe they were a gift? But they are very comfortable and I'm grateful to have them." Formal events are not the place to "tell all", or expose your soft underbelly of thrift.
*That's why, in the credits for the black and white seasons, the flags are at half-staff when The Minnow leaves the harbor.

This is a petition you can sign to support the people who have been working since 2013 to insure that the candidate who wins the popular election is assured of the of the electoral college vote. It was originally started by Lady Gaga. That link goes to a news story.. expect some back flak, what I call advertising at sites that should know better than to load a page with litter.

City council pals had other plans. My economics teacher told us this. Now Disney may buy seaworld? Stay tuned!

Thursday13.... that little box I found...
I missed last week so, being busy, it seemed now or never!
And, if there's a pair, it counts as one.... that's how I'm counting things, even the beads.
Ok, describing from the upper left and all around the loop and back to the beads....One roadrunner got a little lost.
1. A pair of half finished pasta angels. A friend taught me how to make them, but these two didn't get all the way made.
2. A silver road runner pin, the lost one.....
I bought this at a show in Quartzsite. It's handcrafted, as are all the others, and has a tiny chip of turquoise for an eye.
3. Another bigger and more interesting road runner pin
This is another antique pin and bought at Tucson show.
4. A little dichroic bird I made to wire wrap but never finished.
I still can do this and there might be a time when my mojo comes back in order for that to happen.
5. A little beautiful abalone shell hummingbird pin.
There was a bead show in town that used to be at scottish rite temple, and that's where I found this beautiful native american made pin.
6. A hand blown blue dolphin bead.
This and the other bead on the necklace came from the same bead show as the hummingbird pin.
7. Earrings..
I made these out of garnet chips, fresh water pearls, and rose quartz beads bought in Quartzsite.
8. I made this earring that actually belongs to a pair. The dolphin bead at #6 was going to go into the remake, as the first one lost it's tail while being mishandled. It happens.
9. Half of a pair of Asymmetrical earrings that really rock! They are too heavy for my ears now.
10. Two little Rhodochrosite carved fish beads that will be made into a pair of earrings when I get that round tuit that I need to get. :o)
11. A Radke bead. She has since become very famous, and I was really on the ground floor to get a few of her exquisite beads from a show in town at a different venue. I gave most of these beads away to a friend of my daughters who works in beads and makes beautiful things. I felt they needed a home where they were going to be used and not just stored. All my beads, nearly, when to my daughter's friend. It was a special request from Laura.
12. An earcuff that I made from some silver wire (now very tarnished) and iridescent beads. A woman in the rockhounds learned from someone at a Thanksgiving Show we all attended, and then she taught us (the rest of the rockhound Gals) how to create them. That was a show we, our rockhound club, had hosted in Barstow.
13. These count as one item, as they are all made by a wonderful guy that made all sorts of beads using a technique known as lampwork. They are made from a base of fluted copper tubing, with hot glass applied. The glass rods are melted in the flame of a torch and thinly wound around and around until the glass fills the entire tubular surface. These are beautiful and sort of look like opal glass. I met him when I was helping at a senior center and he was demonstrating how to create them. I was a mere kid at 50. He was in his 70's.
Hope you enjoyed a small trip of nostalgia and all from a tiny round plastic box, found while cleaning out. Happy T13!

Tuesday Tails....UpDated with different Hope for Paws. plus... a Knitting update?
The YouTube subscriber, that video from Hope for Paws, must have run into some sort of trouble and it's not available anymore. So, a very territorial.. stay away from my body... type doggie gets rescued.
I'm not ready to declare my knitting gene dead or mutated yet. However, I now know that simply putting your knitting project in a nifty basket/ extra lovely Dear to your heart Designer bag from the Gucci knock off store, or even a brown paper sack will not make you actually take it up and fondly knit.
I suggest taking it into your hands and holding it to keep those hands warm. This also serves to let you know in your heart that this is halfway to it's purpose and just might work. I'll do that tomorrow.
That web page had Google on the ropes for awhile, I think. I'm still picking code out of my teeth but nailed it all.

1 - Who was the last person you texted?
A playpal, so we all could meet up and go do something like get leather and seeds for our stashes.
2 - When is your birthday?
It's right before Christmas. In fact, I was born at home and in a snow storm. The attending family doctor returned his fee because he considered me a Christmas present. He was a wonderful person who always did the most unexpected, kind, and amazing things for people.
3 - Who do you want to be with right now?
Ding ding ding, and the answer is....
4 - What sports do you play?
As a young adult, I used to enjoy playing tennis, cycling and swimming. Until my last surgery, I still enjoyed swimming from time to time.
5 - Who is the first person in your blogroll?
Dawn, a buddy from Knitter's Guild.
6 - What is your favorite song at the moment?
There's just too many songs to list them.... but this is my ear worm at the moment....
It is about my daughter. Sometimes I feel her close to me. So close...
7 - If you were stranded on an island, who do you wish to be with?
Mr. Z. He's pretty much a MacGyver type. He knows how to build a weir, and can fix literally anything. We are both good in the wilderness. This is a "keepsake" from one of our first camping trips together with our two tiny girls in the mid 60's. He saw me brushing the picnic table off with my hands and made me this little pine needle brush to avoid splinters.
8 - What do you feel right now?
I feel quite strange, how about you?
9 - What chocolate is your favorite?
I like that dark chocolate Big bar (Pound Plus) from TJs. I don't get to eat it all in one day though. Tempting but not very smart. heehee
10 - How many boyfriends/girlfriends did you have?
Only the one. He came at just the right time, too. Before I went totally insane.
11 - Why did you create a blog account?
It was to show what I was knitting. It was just after starting my first pair of socks. Of course, it does cut into my knitting time but who cares? Not me!
12 - Who is your favorite blogger?
I read over a hundred blogs. They are all great. Every person on the planet has a unique voice, and blogging brings that out, over time. There is no better way to "see humanity" than through blogs. I pray for people, by name, that I've never met face to face. It's a sort of Nun thing to do. Ya know?
Of course, I totally trust the Lord to know who, say, Binkie Blue Eyes is. I see no obstacles.
13 - Where do you want to be right now?
I want to be in Santa Cruz, with DH, and in a house big enough to share with our struggling kids.
14 - What do you want to be in the future?
I just don't think about the future except I do NOT want a maniac straight up from the ranks of what has ruined (and has always ruined) the happiness of millions for the sake of a few more bucks. Beware the Orange Menace!
15 - When was the last time you cried? Why?
Well, we can skip this one. I'm crying now.
16 - Are you happy?
Ask me in a few months or maybe even years?
17 - Who do you miss?
My daughter. And I miss being with her sisters and my two newly proclaimed sons. Seeing all of them would be great.
18 - If you were given a chance, would you like to have a different life?
Yes. I'd like a life with no untimely death in it. I'm sick of this particular "Oddment of Life".
19 - What was the best thing you were given?
By God? My sibs and own family. By nature? My voice.
20 - Who was the last person who called you?
The groomer, or some anonymous roto caller wanting to inform me of the pros and cons of this or that. They all go to voice mail where they can be flicked.
21 - What is your favorite dish?
Food? I like pasta of any kind. Someone has had the good sense to market wheat free pastas.
22 - Who is your best friend?
Mr. Z. Meffie is my BFF. I think of you all the time Meffie, in case you can read this.
23 - What is your biggest regret?
Not getting a Master of Fine Arts at UCLA when I had the chance. Unfortunately, that might have changed so much in life that I might never have had the chance to have my wonderful children and husband. If you change a single thing, you risk changing everything.
24 - Have you ever avoided your partner?
No. He's probably avoided me. lol I couldn't blame him. Sometimes I'm wildly political, going all the way back to Sumeria for points made.
25 - Who do you spend crazy moments with?
Crazy is my sibs and me together. We laugh and laugh about having a Psycho for a Dad, and other things. It's that old, "If you don't laugh then you just gotta cry" thing.
Here's a little cheer me up that I like to watch from time to time.
Some of these seem a little cruel because the parents try to make the babies cry. But there are a lot of funny baby moments in here. Hope you agree. Laugh and cry.....
