I found the hat needles!  LORDY, you can't believe what a boost in morale this is.  And the two cakes of Madeline Tosh for the Peace Cowl at Ravelry. Over 20,000 women, from all over the world, are knitting this pattern.

Also, I found Polly Anna, one of mother's long time favorite books from her own childhood, which she had stashed in a box in the mountains of stuff in her little room after Psycho Dad lost the house.
I remember her telling me, as we worked in my garden, about the impending doom coming yet again, in her life.  She sadly said, "No one can help us."

She kept the books for our daughters, and probably meant to give them all of Polly Anna's adventures as well as some others .  She had about 15 children's books, some of which were donated to our library for their sales, and some of which the twins, who also love children' books, took home this New Year's.
Polly Anna was a comfort to my mother, who had lived through disappointment and heart ache her entire adult life.  My sibs and I are forever grateful that she went quietly in her sleep one night, two weeks after her 64th birthday.  She'd done all she could to stand by her commitment and wedding vows to a man who honored neither her, or any of his vows.

And now, for something different.  Here is that set of  sock knitting Circs I've been rambling on about.  I'll get another one like it as soon as I'm sure my hands can handle such a tiny circumference.  I have a slightly larger experimental one that was sent to me from a friend's stash when she passed away.  The "old school" woven steel "cord" will never break, but it is just a little bit stiff.

I'm going to knit my blues away.  

What a terrible year, was 2016.  I hope that all of you who can feel what's coming have some sort of "great escape" from this newest Tragedian Angst.  Take a mental vacation from time to time.

Remember, sometimes Evil has to fully expand before it crashes down and implodes into itself.  So, don't get caught under it.

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog
authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. You may have heard the expression, “honor among thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's questions in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from recently asked questions from a previously post.


We found this gem our usual way by googling. Our hero CoolGuySevenSevenSev decided to do a random questions thing from his friend's blog, as he said, "So, after doing the crap out of [Raqonteur's 20 random questions]...I decided to try my hand in the 20 random questions field and created this." We'd hazard a guess that "by this" he did not know that our mighty band of thieves would tackle his questions today. These are unedited. I mention that because I usually try to take the author edgier questions off or modify them. Not that you can't handle them, but our experience has told them that no one comes here to reveal things about their own sexuality. Oh, and there's those questions that we've been asked a million times. Our pledge to you is that we will never again ask you to turn to your left and tell us what you see. Or what you had for dinner. If you catch our drift. And my, we are drifting. But I slept 14 hours last night. I have no idea why, but since it's a Wednesday as I write this getting up at 1PM is not acceptable. Sunday Stealing: The Cool Guy Questions 

1.) When was the first time you ever swore or said something profane?
I was 13.  A neighbor, and friend of my mothers, heard me say "hell".  She came up to me and said in a low voice, "That doesn't become you." So I made sure no one could ever hear me cuss for a long time after that.

2.) Have you ever had unrequited feelings for someone?/Have you ever been friendzoned?
Of Course.  Isn't that how we learn that we can't always get what we want?

3.) What's a false assumption a lot of people have about you?
Boy, I don't know.  

4.) Have you ever questioned your sexuality?
Nope.  But, I do hope that we can keep a country where it's ok to do that!

5.) If you could bring one person back from the dead, who would it be and why?
No one.  Let them rest in peace.

6.) What did you do on December 12th last year?
I didn't march in New York.

7.) When was the last time you truthfully told someone you hated them?
I haven't hated on anyone for decades.

8.) What is your opinion on this song? What about this song?
First one was down, apparently due to copyright infringement?  The second song is just amazing.  

9.) In less than four sentences, describe the entire plot of the last book you read.
A family of mostly boys lives around the falls at Niagara.  They grow up.  One by one, they go over the falls to their deaths.
 Frankly, I'm reading PollyAnna next.  

10.) Describe the appearance of the most untrustworthy person you can think of (they can be a person you've met or a made up person). Are they male or female or neither? What about their appearance makes them untrustworthy?

11.) What is the most cringe-worthy thing you've ever seen?
One cold morning in the town my family moved to, I saw a dog that had been hit and mangled by a car.  It was horrible.  It looked like a gumby dog, with all legs wrapped, ever which way, around it's broken body.  I looked into it's dead eyes and saw what can only be described as terror there.  

12.) What is your biggest regret?
Not seeing the signs in time.

13.) Do you have any cousins? When was the last time you saw them?
Cousins!  I was just thinking of re-telling the tale of when my Ohio cousins came to visit when I was 15.  Two sisters, and I had a great time together, and Aunt Becky was still alive so she came along with them.  Great Times!  The second part of questions.  My cousin came to visit in the mid-seventies, and that's the last time I saw her, or any other cousins.

14.) Describe the worst birthday you've ever had.
I'd rather not.

15.) When was the last time someone provoked you to the point of violence?
You mean hitting, or something?  I don't know people who are that obnoxious, and have been lucky enough to never have known them.

16.) OH NOES!!!! Someone has gotten you to drink a truth potion and now you have to truthfully answer every question you are asked!!! What's the worst possible question someone could ask you?
I took some Iocaine?  Sorry.  It's an old undercover ops trick.  Oooops!  Now you all know!  

17.) Describe, in detail, your first serious relationship. Describe how it ended.
ummm  it hasn't?

18.) Introduce your best friend. Tell the story of how you met.
Can this be an imaginary friend?  That would be Saint Joseph.  We met in Balboa Park.

19.) To the introduced friend, has our interviewee lied in any of these questions? Are you surprised by any of these answers?
Buhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

20.) To finish up, what is your biggest irrational fear and how did you get it?
I Can't think of an irrational fear.  I'm not afraid of much and what I'm afraid of has happened, so is that a good answer?  I hope so because it's time to not say another word.  The EOWB may be listening.

1) This song is about a girl who is eager and anxious for her new lover to call. Do you owe anyone a call? An email? A text? 
I owe an email to my friend T who is heart broken, but still manages to send me wonderful and interesting sites in emails from time to time.  I love her dearly.

2) The lyrics are peppered with the informal English exclamation, "cheerio!" What pops into your head when you close your eyes and think of England?
The first thing that pops into my head is all the villages. Loving the English village, I wish the "village" concept had caught on in San Diego when it was tried.  La Jolla is always trying to call itself "The Village".  It is beautiful there.  Well, there's enough money in that tiny spot to sink a battleship.  More power to them!

3) This week's artist, Karmin, is a husband/wife duo who met at college, and that meeting changed the course of their lives and careers. Think of someone who has had a huge impact on your life. Did you know, as soon as you met, that thiswas going to be a life-changing relationship?
I knew the Mr. Z was the one for me when we met.  He was the kindest man I ever had met since my Uncle John. I only hoped that it was to be, as in Kismet.  It was. 

4) Though she sings about consuming tequila, the female side of Karmin, Amy, is a big proponent of healthy eating. She recommends organic foods that are free of pesticides, hormones, food coloring and added sugar. Think about your most recent meal. Was it a good example of "healthy eating?"
Yes, as it was all organic, non GMO.  Garbage in, garbage in your bones, sinews, and lungs.

5) Husband Nick has his own Twitter account (@NickKarmin), but he doesn't use it often. His last tweet was back in August. What's the last thing you posted to social media? (No, your blog doesn't count.) 
Sorry, I don't do any social media besides this blog.  There is a very persistent OCD person out there who is obsessed about finding me in FB, and stuff, so I don't tell my ID there.  I do not do twitter, or whatever.  Besides, an old lady needs time to just "Live" Life.

6) Karmin performed "Brokenhearted" live on Dancing with the Stars. DWTS is  very big business for ABC-TV. So many people vote for their favorite couples each week that their phone and text systems often overload. Have you ever voted for a contestant on American Idol, DWTS, The Voice, etc.?
No, because, even though I might have enjoyed those shows, that takes time, so I never watched them.  

7)  In 2012, the year"Brokenhearted" was popular, the average cost for a gallon of gas was $3.91. In 2016, it had dropped to $2.40. When it's time to fill up your tank, do you shop around for the lowest price/gal.? Are you brand loyal and always return to the same station, regardless of price? Or do you just buy gas from the nearest station when you're running low?
I'll stop for gas if it's on "empty", but just enough to get me to our regular gas stop.  Price is a very big deal, since Big Oil really drags us around by the nose.  
When I had my very first car, in 1958, gas was 33 cents a gallon.  I'll always remember that because I used to drive myself to high school, and also my sweet, car-less Auntie J. paid for part of a tankful of gas when I took her to do grocery shopping.

8) In 2012, the Space Shuttle Endeavor was retired and placed on permanent display at the California Science Center, a Los Angeles museum dedicated to encouraging excitement and enthusiasm about air and space travel. Let's say you had a long weekend to spend in Los Angeles. Would you go out of your way to see The Endeavor? What else would you like to do during your time in the City of Angels?
I used to live in L.A. county, 11 or so miles from the City Hall.  I'm not going back.  I don't go to Los Angeles except to grind my way through it to the California Coast above it.  There is just nothing about L.A. County that has any draw for me, other than Venice and Santa Monica.  Those two places are cool.    

9) While we're thinking about aviation ... Statistics show that it's still a predominantly male field, and less than 10% of commercial pilots are women. Would you be nervous flying with a woman pilot?
No, not at all.  I would have been one of them if the Air Force had taken women into their flight school when I was 18.  Another thing that Americans should know is that today's pilots are very overworked and underpaid. To see how the Air Lines are getting away with this, you have to look back to the Union busting that all big Corporations engaged in with glee.  Read about what happened in Aviation,  HERE.  And it hasn't gotten any better over the last 7 years.

I believe in the Adam Smith Triad.  And I don't like the Bread and circuses media outlets that kept the real news, such as that above when it ensued, from being reported.  Everything is connected.  Action, re-action, eh?

The Oliver Wendell Holmes's, Jr. and Sr., have always fascinated me.  We share some common ancestry through my maternal great grandmother, via England.
This is so my kids will know, since their mother never told them. Also, with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel, haste seems now to be logical.

Thursday Thirteen: Santee Valley, etc.......

1. Santee Valley is part of an old Spanish Land grant, and also became part of the Scripps Ranch at a later date in time.

2. It had to be one of the most beautiful valleys in California.  It's still the most beautiful to me.

3. It lies in a semi-circle of mountains some of which were 30,000 feet high at one time (in the dusty past).

4. A river runs, or rather ran, through it.  Parts of that river still flow out to the sea despite the dams that capture a lot of the water.

5. Grannie's on her rocker.

6. Being old, with a memory that's fairly intact, is both a good and bad thing.

7. Becoming a scold is not part of the good. But one of the good things is that you can remember a California before Palm Springs, say, and before urban sprawl when the whole State was more back country wild lands.  At that time, teens, and even preteens, could go out into the San Gabriel riverbed and learn to drive.  Moving on, the place where our house is, was once all. Mesa top.  One of the twins kindergarten teachers told me that he and his brother hunted rabbits here in the early 1950's.

8.  I've been trying to put pictures up of Santee from the iPad but, of course, the iPad is an ersatz
Laptop with limited skills. Today it's not expected to get over 61, and as you know from past posts here, that is FREEZING to Socalian desert 🌵 lizards.

9.  The mitt and boots yarn came from Webs, and somehow it came with a credit so now I can get more needles!  Yay! Plus, Joanne's had a sale on bamboo Takuni's so I finally got some little size one circs just for socks!  Tried for a picture but the iPad doesn't seem to be capable of allowing a photo to be pulled into Blogger.

10. Wolfie is sick again.

11. Trump came up in the crossword but I refused to actually write in his name but let other words fill it in. If it shows up again I'll burn the puzzle, with great glee, after folding it into a cootie catcher!  A woman has her prerogatives!  That is mine!

Wolfie has been under the weather for a few days this past week. 

Contemplative Mood

 This malaise all started Thursday and lingered.  Since we know that he was kicked around and abused in his former home (he has several broken bones) we reckoned that he also had internal injuries that didn't kill him but "only made him stronger", to a point.  He gets sick periodically so it's not an isolated event. How anyone could abuse this sweet natured dog I'll never know.

I've always wanted more than one dog, but since I now can't easily walk the block with a dog, it would be too much to expect Mr. Z. to do it.  But, it would still be lovely to have a white or a red fuzzy pound pup, like the Wolf.

We had a lovely dog for a few hours a couple of years ago, and he fit right in.  He was a Gent.  Wolfie almost instantly accepted him.  We kept our new foundling safe until his owner could be located.  He had no collar and NO micro-chip.

I'm writing to urge you, if you have a dog, to be sure to get a licence and a collar for your Pup, and have him or her micro-chipped.  More and more people are willing to check foundlings with a nearby vet if these little wanderers are found without a collar.  A micro chip makes it possible  to get your dog back if they go "a-field".   They all love following their noses to the next county!

Monday Whatever: Cake but no music.

A little change for this week:

I did say this was my happy place.  Have a piece of rainbow cake!  It's an ice cream delight that was originally sold in Chula Vista.  Every family birthday for years this was the coveted cake!  It's lovely with Lady Grey tea, or coffee.

We are usually the reddist dot in California.  I think that Trump was idiotic to think that over half the voters in the country were just going to be rolled over.  Duh!

It is hard to say where we got these questions. They are from a martial arts site and we think are meant for questions to ask your opponents when you meet. We “think” because most of the site is in French. Also, you’d never ask any of the original questions to someone that you just met. Those questions (i.e. What celebrity would you like a threesome with?) were not what we’d ask someone when we met. But there were 50 questions that we both stole and edited to become today’s massive event. We got the title from the original site. Oh, and feel free to answer the threesome question. And leave the question out for others to read. They will never look at you quite the same way ever again.

1. Are you loud, outgoing or shy?
At "familia" gatherings, I'm shy and quiet.  I've learned some hard lessons.  I don't need the grief.  With friends and some relatives, though, I'm confortable enough to be warm, vivacious and animated. 

2. What’s coming up where you’ll see an old friend?
Darlin', most of my friends are dead and buried, sadly. And my #1. BFF is on the other side of the Earth. I'm a little worried about her because of where she lives.
Online friends are also very sweet to have.  I'd like to trek to Missouri to see my other BFF#2 , who is always so much fun to be around!

3. Are you easy to get along with?
I think so, as I love to laugh and also really love people, even having just met them.  Like most Mother Hen types, if you hurt my kids, you are banned from my Realm.  Queen Hen's Rule!

4. Have you ever given up on someone, but then gone back to them?
Yes.  Psycho Dad.  Forgave it all, and then he did something unforgivable.  God will work this out.  It's beyond my abilities.   

5. Who was the last person that you had a deep conversation with?
My neighbor and long time friend.

6. Are you okay with being in a big crowd?
Yes, unless there's a lot of anger around.  Then I want to leave, as I'm prone to throwing bricks.

7. Do you believe in luck and/or miracles?
Used to.

8. What good thing happened during the summer? (It’s good to think about summer when you are freezing your butt off in January.)
We all seem to have had a draconian summer/year.  I was glad to see the backside of 2016. 

9. Do you think there is life on other planets?
Yes, and I also believe that there are parallel universes.  As in "the kingdom of Heaven is all around you but you perceive it not".

10. Who was your first crush on?  
Richie Valens was my first Dream Boat.

11. What are your bad habits?
I'm a messy Arts and Crafter who tends to save just about any sort of paper/wood/ dried plant/stick/thread/bead or bug "for future use"  I've got a dragon fly that was stuck in the grill of the Jeep that I want to "immortalize".

12. What’s your favorite part of your daily routine?
Getting up, finding beauty in something, and drinking tea, watching Netfix,laughing with DH- All good.  I like that we are retired and, essentially, as free as the birds.

13. Other than your significant other, who are you most comfortable with?
I'm most relaxed around my daughters, my Lil Sis, and Bro, my nieces, and my younger SIL.  
 
14. Has an ex ever told you that they regret breaking up?
Oddly in this fast paced world, I only have had one suitor.  He hasn't left me despite my sometimes emotional reactions to animal cruelty, yadda yadda yadda.

15. Why should your celebrity crush drop everything to be with you?
Um, I have not idea.  I don't like, and never have, "Celebrity".  And to not put too fine a point on this, look where Celebrity worshiping has got us as a nation - 20 second attention spans and Bread and Circuses.

16. What would be the hardest to give up and why? Books. TV. Music.
Music, and that's because Music informs my chaotic brain, and it makes it orderly and gave me long range thinking. 

17. Do you believe in second chances?
Yes, I very much do believe in it.  Many people have completely turned their lives around after being given a second chance.

18. What would like to do next in your life?
Edit here: I really misread this question.  I'm so focused on the NEXT life that I thought this said, ..."in your next life."  Duh!
I want to play the Piano, Irish tin whistle, Concertina and the Guitar; I want to also be a Master Gardener, have and adopt children, and have a PhD in History.

I will let this stand but add:  In this life I'm just living it and trying to look for beauty everywhere.

19. What’s the meanest thing that anyone has ever said to you?
My MIL asked me did I want "a bunch of little "pikininis" running around" at my feet?  I was shocked into silence.  This was in a genteel conversation gone bad.  It was about who I would accept as a marriage partner for any of my daughters.  The question was about something in the news.  What I said was that I didn't worry what color the man was that married my daughters, just as long as they provided for, and loved and cherished my girl, and the children.

Two female family members, in laws, climbed right up into my grill about it.  One even ran off to shout at my husband.  All this occurred while we were all three washing and drying dishes in the kitchen. I'm now even more sensitive about Bigotry and Racism. Now you all can see how my hackles where raised about Bigotry running rampant.  It is abhorrent to say the least!

That I had a natural kind of beauty.  I've never forgotten it because I never thought I was, in any way, considered beautiful.

1) This song highlights the soundtrack from the movie A Summer Place, which is about two teenage lovers named Molly and Johnny. Did you ever have a youthful summer romance? If so, what was his/her name?
Yes, Mr.Z and I met at a neighbor's party the spring/summer that I was 19.  I was their baby sitter, and he was invited by the host because he was a young and good natured man from work.  'Twas Kismet! 

2) The "summer place" of the song/movie is a resort along the Maine coast. What "summer place" are you day dreaming about this winter morning?
Really none, as there's not a better summer place than San Diego. Just ask all the tourists who come to enjoy the surf, the diving, and the sunsets in less than Phoenix temps.  Moderately hot even on the worst days, though not recently, when it's gotten up to the "broil" setting, I'll choose San Diego.  If you come expect a cold ocean current.  It's not like the east coast, which is warmer, and this is due to the effect of the Humboldt Current.

3) In the movie, Johnny was played by Troy Donahue, who is remembered as nice looking but not terribly talented. Can you think of one of today's actors who you could describe as "nice looking but not terribly talented?"
You mean the ones who have trained at the bad actor's school? *wink* *wink*.  Honestly I can't think of one in what I watch.  I've seen bit players who were not up to snuff but can't name them.  Even the teeny child actors are seeming like they were born to it. 

4) Molly is played by Sandra Dee, a perky blonde who was one of 1960's bankable movie stars. Two other blondes -- Doris Day and Debbie Reynolds -- joined Sandra Dee in the Top 10. The only brunette to sell a lot of movie tickets that year was Elizabeth Taylor. Do you believe men find blondes more attractive than brunettes or redheads? 
No.  I do believe opposites attract, though.  

5) "A Summer Place" was by far the best-selling record of 1960. Also in 1960, two brothers in Ypsilanti, Michigan, opened a pizza place called Dominck's. That was the beginning of a chain now known as Domino's. What's the last food you had delivered to your front door?
Other than Mr.Z bringing in the groceries he bought, the last ordered pizza was years and years ago.
This may all change if it turns out that I can eat pizza again.  Fingers crossed that I can.

6) In 1965, one of the brothers sold his share of the business to his brother for cash so he could buy a VW Beetle. Tell us about a time you had buyer's remorse.
About an hour ago, I ordered a ring from Amazon and five minutes later went back in to cancel it.  It was from a jewelry importer who doesn't do enough due diligence of his products.  Sheesh.

7) In 1960, novelist Ernest Hemingway returned to the United States from Spain and settled in Ketchum, Idaho. Tell us about the last book you read. Was it a novel or non-fiction?
It was non-fiction, which is mostly what I read.  It's called, The Daredevils.

8) In December, 1960, John F. Kennedy, Jr. was baptized in the Georgetown University Chapel. His godparents were Charles and Martha Bartlett, the couple who originally introduced young John's famous parents. Do you have godparents?
Yes, but they are neither of them still living.

9) Random question: You're at dinner with a married couple who begins to fight. Would you intercede and try to make peace? Or would you just sit back stay out of it?

If I didn't know them well, really well, I would back off.  If they were old friend's I would start showing my discomfort.  If that didn't end it, I would say, "Goodbye", excuse myself and leave.  I'm assuming that this dinner is at their home.  If at mine, I would go start uncoiling the garden hose or, maybe fetch the pepper spray?

Ha.  I was pleased with this week’s theme.  I wrote the questions and then checked my archive, and apparently it’s such a good idea that I thought of it two years ago.  I was pleased that I didn’t repeat myself.  If five questions aren’t enough for you this week, and if you never answered those, feel free to tack those questions onto these and make it a Friday 10!

Who’s been a ray of sunshine lately?
My youngest daughter, as she has reached some place in her life that seems to suit her very well. 

When do you next expect to be stuffed to the gills?
That has already happened the other night.  We ate at the Mall Food Court before seeing a concert.  I was trained early to eat everything I put on my plate and it was a hard lesson.  So, not being able to ever waste food, and not being able to take it home either, I ate all my food.  I was stuffed.
  
Among people you know, who can really tell a whale of a tale?
Our old and now deceased rockhound friend Bob could tell the best stories.  Very fun times at the rockhound camps.

What’s something you’ve been herring good things about?
The Women's March On Washington.  I hope it goes well.  Wish I could be there!

Which of the S.S. Minnow‘s passengers or crew do you think you’d get along best with?

The Captain. In the few shows we watched, I remember him as jovial and capable.  I know, he did crash his boat onto an Island.  Demerits!
But he was portrayed by a superb actor, Alan Hale, Jr.

Thursday Thirteen: Keeping an Even Keel

These are instruction for myself, alone.  I've been writing them out as I tried to keep my little boat from sinking in a now stormy, melodramatic sea.  I have now only three daughters, and I worry what their future in "this land" that is "our" land, will be.

You may find them helpful.

1. Remember your heritage and carry it lightly, and happily, as the Divine lives within us all.

2. Listen to the wind- in the trees, at the seashore, in your garden as it sings it's way through and around all your plants, and rejoice in it.

3. Knit and make things for others.  This outreach will be more and more important to hold Community together.

4.  Write letters for Amnesty International again, and keep doing it.  These " stormy seas" are going to affect the whole world.

5. Ignore politics, as it is a tug of war. And, it's a covert, nasty, greedy thing.   Take the advice you've been given at least three times.

6. Do not ignore your "leadings".  They are the most important part of "following" your "path", and the purest voice.

7. Help everyone who needs it, especially the voiceless and powerless.  Just "be there".

8. Stay true to your spiritual ethic and your path.

9. Meditate.

10.  Stay in touch with friends everywhere.

11. Organize

12. Quash bigotry

13. Remember the admonishment: "If kindness is recognized as your virtue, you will have fulfilled you purpose completely."

Friend's Connect is back...Updated for clarity

When ever I feel bad about the world, I watch animal rescues, because these tiny bits of the historical record come from all over the world.  They also show that kindness, tenderness, and goodness live everywhere, even where the greediest and most venal people hold positions of trust and power.

Sunday Stealing: The Very Forceful Questions


1. Do you have/have you had any pets?

Lots of Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Ducks, Tortoises, a Field Mouse, a Cottontail Rabbit, Lop Rabbits, 3 Chuckwallas. And tumbler pidgeons as well as doves of peace.

About the Chuckwalls: My brother and I had three of these lizards when we were kids, 60 years ago. We caught them.  It's sad to see that they are a popular pet because it is just seems so wrong to have them. We turned ours over the the University of California at Riverside.

2. Do you play video games? If so, do you have a favorite video game series?
I play a MPOLG. It's like Heaven that fact that a person can tame and to ride very big mythical animals.

3. Any unpopular opinions on anything?
Sure.  This being a free country with freedom of speech being an inalienable right, that burden may fall on many people and at any time. Thomas Jefferson said it BEST.

4. Do you have a favorite gem? If yes, has anyone ever bought you jewelry with that gem?
I love yellow diamonds.  And no, I've never actually ever wanted to OWN one.  I just think they are gorgeous.  This is especially true of the Czarina's Tiara that toured the country with other Russian jewelry a few years ago.

5. Favorite story genres?
Mysteries, and Donna Leon has another Commissario Brunetti mystery in the pipe!  I can hardly wait!

6. What was once a secret that you can now share? (The original question was "What kind of fruit do you hate" which is type of question that I think "who cares?" so I just change them.)
Nothing.  And the fruit thing?  Good call, Bud. ;o)

7. Do you like reading?
I love reading.  Blogs, maps, books, magazines, knitting patterns.....  

8. What time is it for you now, what are you usually doing at this time of the day?
It's 11:55 pm and i'm usually tucked up in bed.

9. What character on TV or in film is most similar to you? You can go with looks or personality. Or you can make a quip and go to the next question.
Ziva David:  I made up my mind from an early age that if I lived through my childhood that no man was ever going to best me or beat me, again.

10. What's something weird you wanna do? It cannot be weirder than Mr. Watermelonhead. 
Geez, I'm weird enough as it is.  I have no answer for this.  I've fought to be NORMAL for a long, long time.

11. Have you ever accomplished a New Years Resolution?
Yes, many times as I'm very focused.  It gets done.  Last year and the year before because of our daughter's illness and death, and before that my own illness, I did manage to breathe in and out and keep doing that.

12. Is there any music artist you look up to?
For sheer Virtuosity on the guitar, that would be Jimi Hendrixs.  This, on a 12 string!



13. Are you allergic to anything? If yes, what?
Grass, weeds, Trees, mold, shellfish, two or three medicines.

14. When was the last time you took a swim? Who else was with you?
I took a little dip in a pool at fitness and the water was way too warm for me.  
The last time, in the wild waters of the Pacific, was at least 16 years ago.  About half the surfers on the west coast, I reckon were in the water.

15. Would you rather have the ability to sleep for as long as you want, or have the ability to never have to sleep?
I've never needed more than 6 hours of sleep.  So I would take the first option.  I'd like to sleep from, say Midnight 'til 6 am.  I feel beat up with less than that.

1) This song was inspired by a note WHAM! partner Andrew Ridgeley left for his parents. He accidentally wrote "go" twice. What was the last handwritten note you left for someone?
I leave notes for myself all the time.  And the last time was this afternoon.  Did I do those things?  No. I did not.....

2) Born Georgios Panayiotou, George Michael was the son of the Greek restaurateur in East London. When you think of Greek cuisine, what comes to mind?
Greek Salad, though it's rare to find a traditional Greek Salad even here.  We need to start making our own again.

3) He was a terrible driver and admitted his license was suspended a number of times. Have you ever lost your license? 
No.  I was a wild and crazy teenage driver in rural parts where my family lived a lot.  Then I grew up and out of that particular form of insanity.  But I was never as bad as this guy...

4) WHAM! partner Andrew Ridgeley, on the other hand, is a talented driver who got to live his fantasy by racing Formula Three in Monaco. There are companies that sell racetrack driving experiences that allow you to spin around the track at dizzying speeds. Is this something you like to try?  Oh YAH!  Absolutely!  And, I want to drive the newest Lamborghini!

5) In 1990, Frank Sinatra famously gave George Michael advice. Ol' Blue Eyes told the younger man to enjoy his fame, to remember all those lean nights traveling from gig to gig by bus and, now that he's successful, "loosen up and swing, man." Who last gave you advice? Did you take it?  

Bad Medicine!

My new doctor told me that I should be off a medicine that showed significant effects re: short term memory loss.  After a weaning period, I'm off it.  Whew!  It's bad enough to be Bat Sh..er... Crazy! Who the heck needs that other thing?

6) Mr.  Michael's neighbors have reported since his passing that he seemed to live rather quietly, and that they usually saw him when he was out walking his three dogs. Tell us about the last time you spoke to one of your neighbors.
Last week,  I went and spent time with my oldest friend/neighbor and we had a good old fashioned chinwag.

7) Fansites tell us that George Michael's favorite cereal was cornflakes. What breakfast cereals are currently in your kitchen?
Quinoa and Oatmeal.  Yummy and hot!  It's freezing here again!  Wah!  I know East Coast and Northern Tier, I know.. I'm a sissy pants SoCalian Lizard. lol
