Saturday 9: "The Middle...." Maren Morris

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Readers: Go HERE to join in the fun....

Saturday 9: The Middle (2018)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about compromise. When did you recently give in a little and meet someone halfway?  I guess  the last compromise was about what to have for dinner.  Pretty innocuous.

2) She sings that the floors are wet. Are there any floors in your home that could use a good scrub today? If you answered "yes," will those floors get cleaned this weekend?
Yes, there are, and those are the kitchen, dining, and the bathroom floors.  All the floors get vacuumed every week.  We have, almost, tile floors throughout the house, and those stay pretty clean because we never walk on most of them anymore.   This floor - *points to what's under her feet* - needs replacing, so I don't scrub it.

3) She also sings that the cabinets are bare. What's currently on your shopping list?
I don't have to do the grocery shopping anymore, so I really don't know.  I would like more noodles, though.  I'm always up for more Pasta or Chinese Noodles!

4) You may be familiar with this song from Target's TV commercials. Do you often shop at Target?
We don't shop there very often but they have the best choices for some things we need, and we buy them there.  Target will be happy to know this. 😉  It used to be the Go To place for me when I was younger.  I like Target.

5) The lead vocal is handled by Maren Morris, a Grammy winner for "My Church," which is all about singing with the car radio. What's the last song you sang along with?
I just don't sing anymore.  But I can still whistle tunes.  Once I got pneumonia singing was pretty much a thing of the past - because of lung damage.

6) This past April, Maren married singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd and they have performed onstage together. Who is the last person you sang along with?   With one person?  I was taught how to harmonize by a young ( like me) guitarist who played guitar for a pre-school in the 70's.  It was a magical thing.... beautiful.  We sat on the floor of the classroom, and we sang together.

Speaking of Singers... here's my favorite guy singer, singing something that they can play at my funeral if they want to... No one will like it but me, but I love it.  He died on my birthday, in 2014 .... RIP and sing with the Angels, my friend.

7) This song was composed by brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha. With their bleached hair and sunglasses, they look like a pair of surfer dudes -- which they are, having grown up in Huntington Beach, CA. Is there a body of water near your hometown?
A very BIG one.
My DD's Photo from Santa Cruz, August 2016
The Pacific Ocean, and we used to live along the bay, in the same town as the long beaches that we could surf, fish, and swim at.  I'm a complete water baby, and so are my kids.

8) January 2018, when this song debuted, we had a total lunar eclipse. When things like that happen in the sky, do you go out of your way to watch?
No.  We watch them from close by, but don't go out to Montana or anything.  We made a pin dot "camera" to watch one of the solar eclipses and watched it from right at the top of our hill.

Ours was made more simply than this, and we used a much bigger box.

9) Random question -- They say we're all young at heart. In what way can you be childlike?
I'm completely, utterly unprejudiced.  That's the way little kids are, in the beginning.

From THIS fine place...
I like to watch cartoon features, like "Brave", and "How to Train Your Dragon".

I can spend hours playing with mud.  (clay)

I baby talk to puppies, kittens, and baby rabbits.  Well, baby anythings....

And..... I believe in Unicorns!
DID I pass?  ;o)

THANK YOU TO.....

  1. What a bummer... Joe Crocker died. I am getting to an age where many of the musicals I grew up listing to are passing away.
I'm worried about everyone out in California where the fires are ravaging the towns, there'rein my thoughts

    1. Ya, dear and darling old Joe; he was amazing. He certainly didn't get the admiration or respect his talent deserved. Too many Graspers in this world, I think.
Thanks Diana. That's the beautiful country just above L.A. and the country that I feel blessed by the instant we pass from L.A., proper, into the embrace of the ocean air. We've camped at Malibu Canyon so many times, coming and going. *sighs*

    1. They are cute, like babies, and so much expression in those deep little brown (mostly) eyes. I hope you have a lovely weekend, too. And thanks! :o)

    1. Aye, 'tis the biggest one on the planet. You're right, I love this Ocean...
It's such a beautiful coast, and the more it's restored, the more beautiful it gets.

  4. I would love to live by the ocean! So beautiful. I am amazed by natures beauty.
I hardly ever go to Target anymore, I did when I was a young mom for children's clothes and such, but rarely anymore. Loved your answers! Have a great day!

    1. The Ocean and it's waves are a great solace to many people. The mountains are too. I hope you live within easy access to one of the other, water of the mountains. Hilly tree covered places are so lovely, too.

I'll probably go to Target during the holidays because I love the place it's in and the store and the other ones there.
Hope the day has been not too cold, and that you've done some things that let you feel joy.

    1. He really did have a distinct voice. My favorite song of his was-is "You Are So Beautiful", which he sang for his wife.
This performance was in the middle of a depression period for him, one of many, sadly. and he didn't have his back up singers, so the band stepped in singing Falsetto.

  6. You passed with flying colors, Zippi. I hope your section of CA is ok. I have relatives in Chico; keeping an eye on them.

    1. The last two sets of fires caused troubles along the coast, and this one is out in the valley. I'll say some prayers for Chico, too, which is not even in a forest so I don't know that that idiot POS is talking about "forest management for" A** became Love in my comment on Bev's blog. I reckon that is a good thing. grrrr.. heehee Well... He was dropped on his Haid.

    2. Thank you! i so want to be a kid again. I don't know WHAT that idiot is talking about. The forests are both National Forests!

Thanks for thinking of us. We are far to the south of it all, plus our county got burned through last year.

  7. Yes I am jealous of your closest body of water. And I am also grateful that you are not affected by those fires. Those things are so scary to me as I live in the midwest and all we get is a bit of snow and rain here and there.

    1. I’m glad we live further to the south but the air quality where the girls are is very bad.
The Pacific is so big it’s ridiculous. No wonder the Earth Wobbles on it’s axis. How the Pacific could be in trouble is a testament to how badly we have ravaged the planet.
