Over the years I found things out....

This is a cheap ways to make amazing stickers, personalized ones from family photos, or whatever.  "Why not just glue them down to the other stuff in your life", you say?   This is FUN STUFF!  And, it works better because the glue works just like licking an envelope.

One year my DD's wanted stickers. So, we took commercial mucilage glue, the kind that came with a rubber top that you bent back against the paper to get the stuff to oose out.  I'm not even sure it exists anymore in stores, but maybe it does.

But! You can make your own with a simple recipe found HERE (The corn syrup and extract are to make it taste good when you lick the stickers.)

You also need a can, like a popcorn tin, or a cookie tin with glassy, smooth sides.  This is what you will put the cutouts on after you've put the glue on the back of them and it's still wet.   The smooth sides of the can makes the glue dry right on the back of the sticker, and it pops off the can.   It's almost magical in the simplicity.

OK. you have found your can(s), you've made and mellowed the glue.  You are ready to use the system.

Cut out any small pictures you want to use as a personal sticker, anything printed.  We even used the Sunday comics.   This was before there was every sort of sticker available commercially.  Also it was long before there were color printers for the home.  Now I would use a color printer and size whatever you want, and repeat the process to have a whole lot of what you want, like Balloons with the name of your family members on them, etc.  Whatever is fun to do for your family.

After cutting out your creations, brush the glue on the back of them, and position the cut-outs on the smooth sides and top of the can(s) and let it dry over night.  As long as the cat doesn't take to licking them and eating them, your cutouts will all pop off and be true stickers after about twenty four hours.

Enjoy!  It's a great little way to have some fun with the kids.  But, make the glue first, or buy it if you can, whatever suits you.  THEN tell the kids about these fab stickers.
