What's Love got to do with it? Hollywooooood! Saturday9

That sweet Pink header goes to Saturday9 for this week. Come on a long, come on a long.....

Warning LABELS!!  I am in a terrible, AWFUL Mood, but it's clearly not PMS

Saturday 9: The Theme from Love Story (1970)

In honor of Valentine's Day. Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The very popular tagline for this movie is, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." Here's your chance to rewrite it. "Love means _____________________."
"Love means everything, because who ever has loved much will be forgiven much."

2) The movie was famous for a montage of the lovers frolicking in the snow. Do you enjoy sledding, skating, skiing, snowball fights, snowmen, etc.? Or do you just want spring to hurry up and get here?
I like all that frolicking for about as long as it takes for the nose and toes to feel frostbitten.  Then I want to go have a mug of hot chocolate in front of a nice warm fire... or, just drive down the mountain and back to where it's warmer.

3) In the movie, Oliver asks his father for $5,000. The money is required for wife Jenny's hospital treatment, but Oliver is too proud to tell his father why he needs it. Adjusted for inflation, $5,000 in 1970 is $30,000 today. How much would you be willing to lend a friend or family member without knowing the reason?
A couple of grand.  But if I knew the reason, I'd just make it a gift.  And family would get as much as they needed as long as we don't have to reverse mortgage the house, but even then, it might happen.  The reason, though, is imperative.

4) In the movie, Jenny is the daughter of a baker who owns a little shop in Cranston, Rhode Island. Think of the last baked goods you consumed. Were they home made? Did you buy them from a bakery, the grocery store, or a coffee shop, like Starbucks?
I ate a slice of pie at Christmas Eve.  It came from Costco, I think.  I will only eat a wheat product (the crust)on a holiday, and not very much of it.

5) In 1970, when the movie was first released, California's First Lady Nancy Reagan said she liked it but was upset to hear Ali MacGraw's character swear. What's the curse word you use most often? (Feel free to spell it with *'s, in case Nancy Reagan stops by Sat. 9)
How free can I be about how I feel about Nancy Reagan?  I SO hate whiners!
Is that husband stealing  Wench still alive? Oh d**m.  She should worry about swearing in public?  She was good at it in private so I'm told.  Incidentally, I don't f***king swear - Not much anyway, and mostly at supercilious politicians who get between a woman and her doctor!  Meow! Meow! Meow!
Awesome Womanly Warrior from HERE
I hope she goes after Cancer now!

6) Now 75, Ali MacGraw has let her famous hair go gray. She says she's glad to "look like a grown up." Do you feel your age? Or older or younger than your years?
I've only dyed my hair once and got raves but really, it was too much work. My ancient shoulder joints told me about my vanity for WEEKS!   Ali MacGraw is older than I am?  Holy Methusela!  And, no, I'm not feeling my age, I'm feeling my oats!  I only feel old as I am when I: A. Try to get out of a chair, or B., Look into a mirror.

7) MacGraw and her Love Story co-star Ryan O'Neal are currently on tour in the play, Love Letters, and they're drawing big crowds of fans who remember them in their famous film. Tell us of another movie couple you felt had romantic chemistry.
I'm sorry.  I'm a realist.  This comes from having read that Clark Gable had such bad halitosis that his leading lady could barely stand being close to him.

8) Red is the signature color of Valentine's Day. Are you wearing red right now?
Holy crabs!  It's not Valentine's Day today is it?  No, I'm not.

9) Because Valentine's Day is such a big day for chocolate ... would you prefer a large, solid milk chocolate heart or a small box of four assorted chocolates?
Only four?  And they are little?  I want four large, solid dark chocolate hearts in a fairly large box. Please?

  2. Oh, I'm so with you on Nancy Reagan. Her devotion to her husband at the end was admirable and I don't want to diminish that, but geez! She was a fabulously wealthy woman who took all those free designer clothes (and no, every First Lady did NOT do that, not at all). I'd prefer a woman who cussed like a sailor to one who encouraged her husband to call her "Mommy." Oh well, I've gone off on a tangent, haven't I?

    1. I totally agree, so sing it out! Reagan called her Mommy? Wow, that's just sick but Hollywood does strange things to people's minds.
My dad was studying acting at PCC. He was certainly strange. Lol

  3. You didn't sound all that PMS'd to me, Zippi. Let's see you really go for it with Sunday Stealing! (And I want more chocolate, always.)

    1. I'm in a strange mood- a sort of let it all hang out mood. Sort of Psycho myself, not sleeping well.
      Let's go eat more chocolate.

  4. Nancy Reagan only gave me warm feelings when I saw her devotion to her husband toward the end. Otherwise, she seemed a cold, heartless, selfish bitch (and I don't even HAVE PMS)

    1. That was her biggest starring role, and she really played it!
I completely agree with your views.

  5. Ha! Your Nancy rant could have been a post on it's own. Love it!
I had not heard that about Clark Gable. Yuck!

    1. Thank you, twice. I'm also ready for spring after having summer rip through California. Every plant is confused. So putting up more cool colors seemed like a good thing to do. :o)

  7. My mother use to always say that about Clark Gable too. ha ha ha and poor Nancy, she has had one nice life. I always say that there are two kinds of women- those who scrub their own toilets and those who have their toilets scrubbed for them...

    1. Lol, you have said it so well! The one job Mr. Z has declared he will never, Ever, do is scrub the toilet. "The Nancy" won't either I reckon.

  8. It is not just Nancy it was both of them that I didn't like.

    1. I'm with you on that, Diana. Reagan was a disaster from which the long suffering have not recovered.

    1. Hi Ravyne. Things like this happen when I let my hair done. Or maybe it when I get a "wild" hair!
