Friday5 for August 26 : 1999, the last year before The Great Oblivion?

Friday 5 for August 26: Two Thousand Zero Zero Party Over Oops Out of Time

Hello, and welcome to this week’s Friday 5!

The links are there in case you need a little bit of help, but of course there are other ways to get relevant info.  For number 3, click the link and change the “January” in the URL to your birth month and “1” in the URL to your birthday, then hit enter.

1.What’s your favorite song from 1999?

"In the End, Only Kindness matters"

2. What are some of your favorite films from 1999?
I have three from that year, four actually: "Galaxy Quest"- such a gas, "The Sixth Sense", "Office Space", and "Dogma".  We've watched them several times in the ensuing years.  "Office Space" was one of Elle's favorite movies.  Who could ever forget that red stapler?  Or, for that matter, could anyone ever forget those bad A** angels in Dogma?

3. What’s something interesting that happened on your birthday in 1999?
Harry Potter hammered his way into literature?  Did I use literature in that last sentence?  I've never had the time to read a single word of those books but it's pretty apparent that not only little children feel powerless in this real life world we find ourselves in.

4. How did you ring in the new year as 1999 became 2000?
At home, with a bottle of Bubbly and some chocolate.  It still is the best way to not get a DUI or have to call a cab at 1 am. Yes?

5. What’s something that’s gotten better since 1999?
The internet has, well, sort of grown but of course some of it was sideways.  It's growth, per year, is astounding, to say the least.  Now if we could just get the spooks out of our back pockets again.  It's painful to sit on them, so well armed are they.

Want to play along?  The link is in the side bar, or just click HERE.  Come play with us!

Thanks for participating, and have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Kwizgiver, actually I have a guilty secret. I have all the Harry Potter films, a gift from my sister and brother in law. They upgraded their collection to Blu-Ray. So fine! But, I have never actually read a single word of the books, and neither have they.

  2. I still haven't seen Office Space, even though everyone I know says I would love it, and one of my students gave me a red stapler for Christmas one year. :)

    1. hahahaha A red stapler! :) I think the red stapler is the STAR of that movie!

Give Office Space" a spin. It's a little gross in language (these are 20 somethings) and a bit of whoo hoo action, but spot on in the attitude acquired by being chained to a cubicle desk for 8 hours a day.
