Saturday9: Saturday 9: Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (1984)

Can't pick up the picture.  So....I'm putting this one here:

~*~This is my sign~*~

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it HERE.

1) This song was inspired by a note WHAM! partner Andrew Ridgeley left for his parents. He accidentally wrote "go" twice. What was the last handwritten note you left for someone?
I leave notes for myself all the time.  And the last time was this afternoon.  Did I do those things?  No. I did not.....
"Sometimes it's hard being Real"

2) Born Georgios Panayiotou, George Michael was the son of the Greek restaurateur in East London. When you think of Greek cuisine, what comes to mind?
Greek Salad, though it's rare to find a traditional Greek Salad even here.  We need to start making our own again.

3) He was a terrible driver and admitted his license was suspended a number of times. Have you ever lost your license?
No.  I was a wild and crazy teenage driver in rural parts where my family lived a lot.  Then I grew up and out of that particular form of insanity.  But I was never as bad as this guy...

Go see THIS about Chinese Taxi rides.  Crazy, Totally CRAZY!

4) WHAM! partner Andrew Ridgeley, on the other hand, is a talented driver who got to live his fantasy by racing Formula Three in Monaco. There are companies that sell racetrack driving experiences that allow you to spin around the track at dizzying speeds. Is this something you like to try?  Oh YAH!  Absolutely!  And, I want to drive the newest Lamborghini!

5) In 1990, Frank Sinatra famously gave George Michael advice. Ol' Blue Eyes told the younger man to enjoy his fame, to remember all those lean nights traveling from gig to gig by bus and, now that he's successful, "loosen up and swing, man." Who last gave you advice? Did you take it?

Bad Medicine!

My new doctor told me that I should be off a medicine that showed significant effects re: short term memory loss.  After a weaning period, I'm off it.  Whew!  It's bad enough to be Bat Sh..er... Crazy! Who the heck needs that other thing?

6) Mr.  Michael's neighbors have reported since his passing that he seemed to live rather quietly, and that they usually saw him when he was out walking his three dogs. Tell us about the last time you spoke to one of your neighbors.
Last week,  I went and spent time with my oldest friend/neighbor and we had a good old fashioned chinwag.

Tea and Sympathy, anyone?

7) Fansites tell us that George Michael's favorite cereal was cornflakes. What breakfast cereals are currently in your kitchen?
Quinoa and Oatmeal.  Yummy and hot!  It's freezing here again!  Wah!  I know East Coast and Northern Tier, I know.. I'm a sissy pants SoCalian Lizard. lol

California es Caliente
I actually like the "Quora.com Site's take on the name, California.  And Cali is A-OK with me, too.

8) In 1984, when "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" was popular, Murder, She Wrote premiered on CBS. Today it's still seen in reruns all over the world. Are you a fan?
I liked it when it ran the first time.  I hope to find it, now, on some place where it's free and no commercials, because I'm Cheap! Cheap!  Cheap!

9) RANDOM QUESTION: What's your secret to a good night's sleep?
Night meds + herbals and minerals.  Works like a charm.

    1. Thank you Gal. We moved to be closer to home when some tham ding happens, so were are glad of the change.
I started doing research on this claim, and though not privy to the level of information that a doctor receives, I haven't seen anything that supports that claim, so far. But, I'm still glad about getting off of that medicine, as it's better safe that REAAALY sorry down the road.

  2. Now I wonder what med you were on, because I cannot remember diddly squat these days. :\

"Chinwag" is a term I have rarely heard. I like it.

    1. Smellyann, I'd love to have a chinwag with you and the other Satniners some day. Wouldn't that be fun?
About that other thing: What you may have is something called Fibrofog, and everyone who has fibro has that little devil popping up now and then. Also, the med in question is one of the benzodiazepines.
Also, I recommend talking with the gals in Ravelry who have been posting for literally years about all the different aspects of Fibromyalgia. Best wishes on the move btw

  3. Oh my! Short-term memory loss as a side effect is some scary stuff. I am glad your doctor figured it out.

    1. Thanks, Stacy. But I guess there are two sides to this, or there is a drug company going all out to save itself. Using the web for research is an iffy thing. My doctor could have figured it out instantly.

    1. Yay! Let's go race together, too. A Prius is something I want also. I have another friend who has a Mustang which is her muscle car as well as a more practical city car.

  5. I won't take statins because they affect my memory. The first time I tried them I couldn't even get out a complete sentence, so I will just live with high lipid numbers. Am curious about the herbs you take for sleep as I am also getting off of one of my pain meds and it is affecting my sleep quality.

    1. I was on statins for a nano second, then switched to red yeast rice, refusing to take the pharmaceutical.
Along with red yeast rice, I take CoQ10, and it solved the problem in two months. Statins are not good medicine for everyone. I take a honking big calcium tab and valerian. Good luck with all your issues. Hugs!

  6. I like a good Greek Salad. You know- the kind with real Feta, the right kind of olives (Kalamata ) and even an occasional anchovy. Can't wait to see you in your new car- lol

    1. Lol! Mr.Z and I used to go to car shows and take pictures of one another in autos way way beyond our means.
Oh my, is Greek salad delicious or what? We used to have a source for olives, and cured them one year. Love olives!

  8. As a life long Californian,s "Cali" bothers me as much as "Frisco" to a life long San Franciscan. We're weird like that.

    1. I hear you, Bev. I also don't like "Frisco" instead of San Francisco. I did go to "Cali" and SoCal, because of an Oregon Goernor. His famous phrase was, "Let's not Californicate Oregon!" Though funny in a vulgar way, that made it harder for me to say, "California".

  9. Glad you've gotten your memory back. It's quite a concern as those age numbers creep up, isn't it?

OK, for realz, though, can I borrow your Lambo once in awhile??

    1. Yes, very unsettling to not know what's happening and why, as well. And yes, you can, absolutely borrow that car. Lol!

    1. Thanks BeeBee. It's a whole different world with only half a brain functioning. My view is that Big Pharma is rushing many a drug into use before proper trials.

    1. Oh, Katie, what little lab rats we've become. That's dreadful. It showed up in animal trials, too. I hope you can get off that medicine and soon. Let's form a core group to research all our meds.
