"Suddenly I See", the song....

Suddenly I see....

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Suddenly I See (2005)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

Like to play along or see other participant's answers?
Go HERE.

Hey, the song used in the intro to "The Devil Wears Prada".. I liked it then and now here, too.

1) This song is a tribute to Patti Smith, the rocker who inspired KT Tunstall. What woman has inspired you?
Rachel Carson.  She changed our world and saved so many species because she WOULD. NOT. BACK. DOWN!  Is she ever even mentioned anymore by more than a handful of people?  No.  That's about what anyone can expect with the short attention spans now so prevalent in this world.
What she did had an ENORMOUS impact on this Earth.

2) In this video, you can see a turntable and an LP. When is the last time you played a record?
Two years ago, and I can't see my turn table, I'm sure it's been sold, but can see several LPs.  I used that special table to digitize all my LPs.

3) Growing up, Ms. Tunstall seldom sang at home because her father is severely hearing impaired and music interfered with his sensitive hearing aid. Do you, or does anyone in your family, wear a hearing aid?
Why didn't her cranky Pa just take out his hearing aids.  Easy to do!
Anyway, back to the question: Immediate family?  No, not so far.  It will probably happen at some point but I'm going to learn ASL because I think it's cool.  I'm down with that.

4) In high school, she got experience performing on street corners. Have you ever tipped a street musician?
All the time.  They are usually all over Balboa Park.  They add a small taste of  Central Park in New York City to our Park.  It's a very good thing for both sides.  Some of them are fabulous players!

5) When this song was popular, Microsoft introduced the Xbox 360 to North America. Are you into gaming?
I've played one MMPOLG for more than two decades.  I find it offers stability in an insane world and also fills the need to be a hero.  It's nice to do nice things for the other players.  And fun to meet up with people you've been friends with for so long and just chat.  It's great.  We sit by the log fire and talk about life and no damn fed is going to be listening in.  Or, even the Russians.

6)  In 2005, Prince Charles married his long-time love, Camilla Parker Bowles. At the time of their wedding, 73% of Brits said they disapproved of her. Today, her popularity has increased somewhat and her disapproval has dropped to 55%. Do you know anyone who married someone you didn't like? Did their spouse grow on you with time?
(Emote)Prince Charles?  100% of ME does not approve of Prince Charles.....

(Answer): No, I don't.   So, anyway, the next question is Moot?

7) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was popular in theaters. Who is your favorite "Harry Potter" character?
Sorry, Harry Potter just never was very interesting to me, though I did like parts of the movies.  However I'll tell you what I liked, and also what I couldn't stand about them.  They were terribly dark, hard to see, and ugly.  The acting was great, the Owls were fascinating but those stupid broom races were ridiculous and boring.  I gritted my teeth when yet another one of those things turned up in the movie.

8) In 2005, YouTube was introduced by three young men who met while working at PayPal. What's the last thing you paid for using PayPal?
Why?  Will this get my money reimbursed?  I'd like that you know.  Hmmm.....

9) Random Question: After a long, exhausting day of travel, you check into a motel. The room is not at all to your liking. It's next to the ice machine, so you can hear cubes dropping noisily into metal buckets. Your view is of the parking lot. The bathtowels and thin and tiny. In short, you feel like you're being ripped off. Do you grab your bag, turn on your heel and check out, hoping there are better accommodations nearby? Or do you say, "What the hell, it's only one night," and climb into bed?
If all those things are wrong with the room, then I'm all ready a first class cheapskate who picked the lowest priced room in town, and wouldn't even THINK of looking for better accommodations.  So, I'd guess I'd be happy and go right to sleep if the sheets were clean.

Thanks Sam!

    1. Yes, you have, and thank you. ((((Hugs)))) Stay calm in your crisis. Many people love and care about you.
I know what you mean about staying where others may have done, and probably have done, things that you'd never allow in your home. I think. I'm glad we were rockhounds and got a used RV back in those days. Usually we travel in it.

    1. Yes, it is a long, long time, and we've seen many changes. It's called Ultima Online. There's a monthly fee. It's old school but full of color and beautifully crafted. It's so much fun because of the various things you can do in it, weave, sew, kill monsters, tame and ride pets, etc. Plus, we have long friendships that started there. We started playing because we had daughters who did. All players get anniversary gifts, Christmas gifts, Easter, etc, and Halloween is always a blast.

  3. It isn't just that Rachel Carson was so smart and prescient. It's the way she presented her arguments. She was such a talented writer and speaker! I recall reading that JFK -- not really an environmentalist but a voracious reader -- was moved by her books about the sea and especially Silent Spring. He worried that her work would be quashed by the powerful chemical companies and promoted Silent Spring whenever he could. He referred to it as "our generation's Uncle Tom's Cabin."

    1. And, Oh, was JFK ever right! Rachel Carson was a scientist with impeccable credentials, and she fought hard because she knew this was going to be a close call to save many species from destruction. She's my gal. She was amazing.

    1. Ha! The paranoid in me just knew it! Lol.. You are such a kidder!
I do know that Justice Department FBI or Homeland should be listening because in the past I've heard Mafiosi talking casually at the banks, and also some sort of handgun manufacturer just the other day. I just stood there quietly at my bank box on the other side of the wall and they are gabbing away about caliber and bore and crap. It was unbelievable. One of them was headed for prison and they even discussed that. Obviously the right wing nuts feel safe from detection in there. It was a serious discussion.

  6. Love that you tip musicians. Did you hear about the world famous violinist who decided to perform in the subway to see what reaction he got and NOBODY NOTICED. They were getting an expensive private concert and they didn't even tip him.

    1. No! I just watched it. One lady complimented him at the end, but most took no notice at all, and not a single person tipped him. That's totally strange! I think we are all sort of shell shocked? That's a state we don't want to get into, but here we are.
