Saturday9- A little Unusual...

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: It's Not Unusual (1965)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Check here.

1) In this song, Tom sings that "it's not unusual to go out at any time." Will you be "out and about" this weekend?  Maybe to go to a plant nursery.

 2) Before his music career took off, Tom supported himself and his young family by working as a vacuum cleaner salesman. Could the room you're in right now benefit from a thorough cleaning with a vacuum?  It needs vacuuming and Dust mopping and then scrubbing more like.  But I just finished dust mopping two big rooms and I'm done (in) for the day.   Yesterday, laundry....Whew!

3) You can purchase a verified Tom Jones autograph on eBay for $299 (or the best offer). When you were growing up, did you collect signatures and sayings from your friends? (Autograph book? Yearbook? Cast?)  Yearbooks, yes.  I have no idea what happened to them, either.  Part of life I left behind.  The only thing I regret not taking was my dog, Shadow.  He was too big to fit in the seat of my tiny car with the other stuff.  I was tossed out, you see but damned glad to go!  Patrone did not like me dating DH.  I wish I had shot the jerk when I had the chance.  Shhhh.  Don't tell the FBI!  Lolz

4) At the height of his popularity, female fans would throw their panties onstage at Tom Jones. Sam can't imagine doing this, and not just because she's not that crazy about Tom Jones. She'd be embarrassed because her underwear drawer could use a serious refresh. If you could choose one new article of clothing to add to your wardrobe today, what would it be?  More little Summer dresses and tops.  I'm too tired to sew.

5) "Tom Jones" is also the name of character in a famous 18th century novel. Tell us about a character from a book you wish you were friends with in real life.  Fictional?  I can't think of a single fictional character in a book I've read that I'd like to know in "real" life to be honest - well, other than Precious Ramotswe.  I think we could be great friends.

6) When this song was popular in March 1965, Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and the City fame was born. Do you share your birthday with anyone famous?
Lady Bird Johnson.  I loved and admired this Lady.

7) Also in 1965, when this song was a hit, Americans were riveted by the Gemini space program and children all over the country wanted to be astronauts. Think back to your childhood: When you were in first or second grade, what did you want to be when you grew up?  I wanted to be a world famous singer, and a writer and an artist.

8) Fifty years ago, the most popular headache reliever was aspirin, and you could buy a bottle of 200 tablets for just $1. Do you have any aspirin in your medicine chest right now?  DH has some in his medicine cabinet.

9) Random question: You've just entered a public restroom. Would you rather find a paper towel dispenser or hot air hand dryer?  I vote for BOTH!  You need something to use to get out of the place, and nice clean paper is it.

  1. I like when they have both in a bathroom and you can have a choice.

    1. I guess a singer in that catagory is actually considered an Artist. But I would like to sing with a paint brush or pencil and pad in my hands. Ah, La Vida!

  3. Here I am, leaving comments between loads of laundry, so that photo resonates with me!

Like you, I admire Lady Bird. History gave her an unenviable slot, didn't it? She followed one of the most influential women of the 20th century as First Lady, and lived in the White House during the Vietnam War and social unrest. Yet she did us proud. Impressive, indeed.

    1. Laundry, that dread chore, so necessary but far too tiring! Only scrubbing floors is worse, to me.

History certainly did did give Lady Bird and "unenviable slot". She was truly a Lady, and equal to the stress and rush of the transition and very kindly to Mrs. Kennedy. As you say, she did us all proud. :-)
